Here's what's gonna happen. I'm going to give you a bunch of phrases that describe situations (like "Darkest hour" or "Rescuing a friend"), and you're going to pick a song for each phrase, as if you were in that situation and the song is background music. Interpret each phrase however you like - Whatever comes to mind is valid. To make this actually deserving of a postcount section rather than, say, the Playground, it'd be awesome if you explained your choices as well, or just painted a picture of your scenario and how the song fits in. (If a mod decides this is more Playground material anyway, move away - I shan't be miffed). Phrases (in template form) in the first spoiler, my own soundtrack in the second. I feel like the lyrics suit me in one mood and the instrumentation in another, and the combination has fascinated me since the first listen. The more I hear it, the more attached I get. My Hometown • Shoji Meguro ~ Also Sprach Brooks A little soft jazz to soothe the soul. Nice even-tempered song, something you could imagine hearing as the backdrop to several static city shots. The progression also has this slow tumbling feeling about it, like a lazy day unfolding. Battle (Generic) • Jun Senoue ~ Death Ruins FRICK I FORGOT ONE. Well, I spent so much time tryna figure out a song for this that I forgot to do it, but then when I came back I went WAIT. I'VE GOT IT. For something to spring so vividly to mind tells me I just have to go for it. It's rockin', it's rollin', it's ass bruisin' music at its finest. Goofing Off • Tsuneo Imahori ~ Winners This track is so funny to me. Something about the warped, drunken chanting really gets me, and besides that it's got a nice beat. Fitting for rounding up the gang, goin' out for a night on the town, and gettin' in a whole lotta trouble. Trouble in Town • Takeharu Ishimoto ~ Despair This track spells "trouble." Writes it out in dark piano chimes and high-pitched, nerve-rattling strings. Not very long, but it gets the message across. Call to Action • Shoji Meguro ~ Stray Sheep Never been a huge fan of Meguro 'til this soundtrack—Most of it sounds overproduced to me, but his work on Catherine is so vibrant and free. Every melody is so full of personality. This one conveys tension and tenderness at the same time, as if encouraging the listener to press on, though the way may be steep and paved with strife. Then suddenly it crashes down at the end, accompaniment to finally taking that great leap into the dark. Battle (Worthy Opponent) • Ryota Koduka ~ Battle - B2 There simply is no better theme to get you pumped and ready for action. This is the track that lets you know diplomacy has failed, conflict has come to a head, and it's time to get medieval on somebody's ass. When I look for a fight song, I don't want something moody, I want something full of adrenaline; and adrenaline this track has got, in spades. Leaving Home • The Tossers ~ The Rocky Road to Dublin Had to fit this in somewhere, and where better than as a theme for leaving home? The way it moves quickly on from tearful goodbyes into the journey itself seems like something that would be true of me; I'm the type who'd never leave if I spent too long on goodbyes. And while it portrays a rough journey it also ends on a high note, finding friends far from home. Wondrous Sights • Nobuo Uematsu ~ Calm before the Storm My go-to track for anything with a "Wonders of nature" kinda theme, and anyone who's played the game will probably see vivid imagery in this track right away. You can just hear the awe and reverence in every instrument. I prefer the non-HD version for the fact that the synthesizers lend it more of an out-of-this-world feel. Battle (Rival) • Daisuke Ishiwatari ~ Nothing Out of the Ordinary DAISUKEEEE. At first I was trying to keep him out of my soundtrack so as not to look the fanboy, but then I went wait. Who am I trying to impress? It's MY soundtrack, I'll use whatever I goddamned want to. From there it was just a matter of settling on a song. This one has a way of sticking with me—I've never called it my favorite, but everytime it comes on I jam out to it, and I'd say that makes for a pretty good rival theme. Through Dark Caverns • Nobuo Uematsu ~ Ice Cavern Next to Pokemon GSC's Dark Cave this is THE cave theme for me, and this one's a little easier on the ears so I went with it. Though it is bent more towards an ice cave, I can see it working for a regular one as well, or perhaps a cavern near to the surface with lots of wind blowing through, weird vegetation, and maybe some magick crystals for flavor. Tragedy Strikes • Takeharu Ishimoto ~ Amnesia Not much to say about this one, it's the quintessential tragedy track for me. No profound sadness is complete without a violin crying to the heavens. Battle (Desperate Struggle) • System of a Down ~ Question! Might seem odd mixed in with the others, but it's had such a profound impact on me. Fragile, desperate, transient—The track seems to radiate these words, even imprint them and images of them in my head. I picture a blood-drenched warrior striking down soldier after soldier as cherry blossoms float by, or a burst of inky blacknness enshrouding the sky, snuffing out the light. Awakened Resolve • Kohei Tanaka and Shiro Hamaguchi ~ The Very Very Very Strongest And this one's the exact opposite of the above: a ballad of triumph, grit teeth, and vows bellowed through a bloody throat. An ode to iron determination. The vicious war cry of a man on his last reserves of strength, still so sure of his victory that he pushes through slashed arms and broken ribs to grasp it. It's the turning point, drums booming, brass swelling higher and higher... until, at long last, it dissolves into tired strings. Muscles relax. Breaths release. We've done it, men. To the Rescue • Omnia ~ Etrezomp-ni Kelted Went through a couple tracks for this one, some of them hyped up, some outright silly—but ultimately I decided on something softer, and that I'd come this far with a pretty serious tone and wanted to keep it consistent. Almost the only lyrics to this song are "Alliance of the Celts," and besides that, it has that sort of comeback melody that I'd expect from a rescue. My Last Journey • Kota Hoshino ~ On Satelloid Just about anything from this soundtrack is bound to be emotional for me, and I'm surprised I haven't picked more tracks from it. This one I just couldn't ignore; no penultimate theme sticks out more in my mind. It's a little hopeful, a little melancholic, and even has a bit of bass behind it, as of the slow, steady climb upwards to the final stage. Battle (Final) • Luca Turilli ~ Prophet of the Last Eclipse I don't even wanna comment on this one, for fear of ruining it. Just... see if you can get through the whole 11 minutes. You'll understand why I picked it. Homecoming • Home Made Kazoku vs. Daft Punk vs. Justice ~ Give Heart Back to Music | Shounen of Nazareth This might overlap a little with my choice for Epilogue, but I wanted to accomplish a lot more with this one. To capture the reward at the end of the journey, the excitement of the hero's return, and my own personal flair in such a situation. PLUS I WAS RUNNING OUT OF ROOM AND REALIZED I HADN'T MANAGED TO FIT IN ANY DANCE MUSIC OR EUREKA SEVEN. SO I DID THE EFFICIENT THING AND COMBINED THEM. Epilogue • In Flames ~ Dialogue with the Stars Seems like a good closer to me. It's heavy, but also uplifting, and it has a sort of finality to it. The storm has passed, but it's not time to rest yet. It's a credits theme for a hero with many journeys left to take; and to me the end of every story is the beginning of another, so I find it fitting.

I figure this is pretty apropos for a KH forum :L Some of you may have thought about what it would be like to live in a fictional or fantasy world, or just a place far removed from your time and space. What if you were actually given the opportunity to cross over into another world? Would you really be able to do it? Would you leave everything you know and love behind? Or would that be a no-brainer for you? What would convince you to go? What would make you stay? What would be hard to give up, and what would you say good riddance to?
YOUR FRIENDS ARE ALL d e a d All TF2, all one artist. These have to be the funnest sources I've found yet. The Masquerade in Salem August 1st, 1922. Salem, Massachusetts. 7:00 P.M. The eve of the fifth annual Salem Masquerade Ball, hosted by the affluent Crowninshield family. You'd begun to wonder if it would still be held this year, with all the talk of the Sicilian Mafia muscling into your beloved home recently, but the current family head is famed for her brazen courage. The ball is the premier event of the season, and you'd be abashed if you didn't attend; still, as you walk the twilit city streets a chill creeps up your spine at the thought of hoodlums prowling about... Despite heavy-hanging tensions the ball is a smash hit, as usual. The music is hip, the accommodations are as ritzy as they get, and though smaller than usual the attendance is still enough to impress. Many of the Crowninshields are in attendance as well, though with everyone wearing masks it's hard to keep track of them. The evening is filled with wine, whooping and merriment, and mostly without incident... Now, the hour approaches midnight. The party is winding down, and many of the guests have left. Attendees have dwindled to a minor handful, mostly family and friends. As they begin cleaning up, disaster strikes: The remainders hear a muffled gunshot from several rooms away, and a maid bursts into the foyer in hysterics, screaming that the lady of the manor has been murdered. Indeed, in the next room the guests find Miss Lucille Crowninshield, hole in her back, face-down in a pool of blood. No words are exchanged, but understanding is immediate: La Cosa Nostra has struck. Escape proves futile; all exits have been sealed. You fear that the only way out of the mansion now is in a casket. No doubt the Mafia are among your number already. One person suggests that everyone remove their masks so the scum are in the open, but this is quickly shot down as the remaining Crowninshield family's identities will be laid bare as well. The party is in a frenzy, until someone with a booming voice calls for order. In front of the assembled prisoners of Crowninshield House, he says aloud the grim thought that had already crossed everyone's minds: The only way to escape alive is to root out the Mafia and kill them. With much difficulty, a resolution is reached: A vote will be held every day. Whoever receives the most votes will be lynched. Then the party will split up for the night, lock themselves in a room and hope they live 'til tomorrow. You steel your nerves for the storm to come... Welcome to Mafia, a game of wits, lies, and paranoia. If you're new to the game, please read the spoiler below. Spoiler: How to Play The game of Mafia is one in which the players are divided into factions and must decide as a group who among them to lynch until only one team remains. There are two teams: Town and Mafia. The Town outnumber the Mafia 3/1, but they don't know who's who; only the Mafia know of the players' alignments. Thus the game is in essence uninformed majority versus informed minority. Play is divided into two phases: Day and Night. Day phase is when everyone - town and mafia alike - talk together, debate and squabble amongst themselves, and eventually reach a majority vote on who to lynch. The lynched player is killed, their identity revealed, and the day ended. Thus begins the Night phase, where the Town is inactive and the Mafia meets in private to vote on one of the Townies to kill. When they are decided, the kill is made, and the next morning the victim's identity is revealed. The Town wins when every last Mafiosi is dead; the Mafia win when they make up the majority of living players. Each faction wins as a unit; every one of its members is considered the victor, even those who have died. This means (contrary to what that fanciful tale above might lead you to believe) that you're not just looking out for your best interests - You're working for your team. As Town, it is very likely you will die at some point, so you must ensure your life and death serve the remaining Town; as Mafia, you know you can trust your teammates, so work with them and protect those whom the Town least suspects (which may entail sacrificing yourself at some point). As for specific mechanics: During the Day phase, vote to lynch a player by saying Vote: [Player name] in bold text. If you don't bold your vote, it doesn't count. (Coloring it would also help me keep a tally, but it's not necessary - Just don't make it an obnoxious color.) You may also vote No Lynch, but this is emphatically discouraged in almost all cases, as every No Lynch is a chance for the Mafia to pull ahead. You may cancel your vote at any time before the lynch by saying Unvote. During the Night phase, Mafia will be given a Quicktopic with which to communicate, strategize, and vote on a Townie to kill. Please do not create a Skype chat or PM group for this; I want to be able to monitor and log all communications. Voting to kill a player is the same as voting to lynch: If it ain't bold, it won't hold. There are two lynch conditions: Hard and soft lynch. A hard lynch means that the player is lynched immediately; a soft lynch means that they will be lynched at the end of the day if they have the most votes. The number of people required for a hard lynch is 1/2 the number of living players rounded up, and for soft lynch it's a fourth rounded up. The players will be notified in-thread when a mislynch (lynching Town by mistake) will cause the Town to lose, and/or when they MUST lynch Mafiosi or they WILL lose immediately. The difference is that No Lynch is still a safe move in the former case, while in the latter it will cause the Town to lose that night. If either of these occurs it means that the Mafia is on the verge of victory, so pay careful attention and play smart. And for everyone signing up, the following spoilers are mandatory reads. Spoiler: Rules Failing to observe any of these rules (besides an exception below) is worth a warning. Break a rule after that, and you're out of the game, just like that. Keep it civil. This is the kind of game that makes tempers flare and brings out your inner trickster; remember that and try not to lose your head. Above all else, it's all in good fun, so don't sign up if you think it'll stress you out. By the same token, don't make it too stressful for others if you can help it. Play to your win condition. This is a TEAM GAME, and I CANNOT stress that enough. If you're Town, help the Town; if you're Mafia, help the Mafia. Making a mistake is one thing, but don't just give up and shoot your own team in the foot halfway through. Please do not talk when you aren't meant to. For Town, this includes after a player has reached hard lynch and once the Night phase begins; for Mafia, this is when Day begins. And for EVERYONE, this is whenever I call for silence. If you absolutely cannot contain yourselves and MUST speak at one of these times, then at least don't talk directly about the game as if it's still going; it gives one side an unfair advantage. (Also, dead players may make one final post in which they may not reveal any game-relevant information. So stuff like "Good luck Town" or "GODDAMNIT WHO THREW THAT" would be ok, but "I'm the Cop and here's who I investigated" would not be. This is not a roleplay. Please do not roleplay. Speak as yourself and act as yourself. Otherwise it just gets confusing. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT edit your posts. No, not even to correct a mistake or typo. This is an issue with playing online that can make the game impossible and more than a little confusing, so just don't do it. If you need to correct yourself or add on to a statement, just post again. No talking about the game outside the game. Don't PM players to make deals, don't message your mafia buddies in the middle of the day, don't even say GODDAMNIT I HATE MY ROLE in Skype. Some games allow this, but they tend to fall apart, so mine doesn't. If you have questions about this game or Mafia in general, the best way to get them answered is to ask me in private; don't approach your fellow players, because they may not have your best interests in mind. Keep communications open. If I need to get in touch with you about the game, it will either be through PM or (in the case of Mafia) Quicktopic, so keep track of these. You should also Watch this thread so that you don't miss updates on the state of the game. What I tell you via PM or Quicktopic is confidential; do not copy-paste from those sources. You may paraphrase if needed, but be wise about it. (This mostly pertains to the Doctor and Cop, who may be tempted to announce their roles.) This game is built to be newbie-friendly. If you're a Mafia veteran, please do not ask me to add roles or change the layout of the game. If you really want to play more complicated games, sign up and support this one! The more interest it generates, the more likely it is that I or someone else will host more games in the future. You must post AT LEAST once per Day phase, but please don't take this too literally; a good day sees at least five or six posts from everyone. If the day ends in under 48 hrs, the penalty will be halved. As the mod of this game, my word is final. I reserve the right to make whatever call I deem appropriate; and if I add or make changes to the rules, you are expected to read and observe them. (I will make a note in the thread if I do so.) Spoiler: Roles This game will feature up to two roles: Cop - This is a Town-aligned player who, once per night, may choose another player to investigate. The Cop will then learn of that player's alignment. This role will be featured in the game from the start. Doctor - This is a Town aligned player who, once per night, may choose another player to protect. If the chosen player would've been killed that night, they will survive. This role will be added to the game if 20 players sign up. Finally, the following spoiler is an optional read which beginners may find helpful. Spoiler: How to Start a Mafia Game Ahh, Day One. The inscrutable nexus of all confusion and awkwardness in the game of Mafia. You know your mission, but it seems impossible. What do you do? What do you say? If you're Town, how do you get the Mafia to say something incriminating? If you're Mafia, how do you even talk without looking suspicious? These questions have plagued every Mafia player at some point. Believe it or not, there is actually a magickal solution that is guaranteed to work every time. Don't overthink it. ...No really. No, really! Don't overthink it. Just talk. Cast votes, even if you don't mean it. Ask people probing questions. Ask people dumb questions! Just. Talk. That's all it takes. The longer people talk, the more likely they are to say something that arouses suspicion. And if you don't talk you're going to look suspicious anyway, so you may as well. The first page of a game is usually very silly, with people making posts like "I suggest we start by lynching me" or "vote curiousCat HAIL SATAN," but eventually somebody is gonna say something that grabs people's attention, and then the game is on. The beginning will be confusing no matter what; even experts can't avoid it. They just know to get it over with as quickly as possible and get to the good stuff. So don't be shy, and don't overthink it. This game has come to an end with the Mafia's victory! Well done, players; you all played a marvelous first game. This post will shortly be updated with game-relevant information, such as players' full roles and the Mafia's nightly activities. 1st Page ● Guest Comics ● Fanart This comic is SICK. Everything you love about the old Saturday morning cartoons, now in voodoo flavor. The comic has a Facebook page and the artist has aTumblr, Twitter, and DA, if any of that is of interest to people. So I think we all know there's only one survey question that matters here: HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT FURIO'S HOODIE? I FOR ONE HOPE IT IS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE VERY VERY VERY SOON
So yeah I'm thinking of running a game and wanted to see if any of y'all would be interested. BUT NOVA - WHAT IS MAFIA? Mafia is a game of guile and deception, a game of wits and trickery, a game of gibbering nonsense and crushed friendships. There are two teams, the Town and the Mafia: The Town outnumber the Mafia 3/1 (or 4/1), but they also don't know who's on their side and who's dirty scum - only the Mafia knows that. In other words, it's uninformed majority versus informed minority. During the Day phase, all of the players deliberate amongst themselves - The Town try to figure out who's Mafia, and the Mafia try to protect their identities - and at the end of the day, they all vote on someone to lynch. The unfortunate victim (or deserving scoundrel) gets the axe, their alignment is revealed, and the Day ends... giving way to the Night phase, where the Mafia convene in secret to kill someone while the Town sleeps. When they decide on an unlucky victim, Night ends and the Town awakes to a fresh corpse. The Town's goal is to wipe the Mafia out - No matter how many of their own they lose, the entire Town wins if the entire Mafia is killed. The Mafia's goal is to reduce the Town's number until it is equal to or less than their own, at which point they overrun the stragglers and their team claims victory. It gets more complicated than that, but that's the gist. Sound like something you're interested in? If so, post here and let me know or contact me via Skype. A good game size imo is between twelve and twenty players, but there's almost no upper or lower limit. Just be advised that A GAME OF MAFIA IS A COMMITMENT - You should be able and willing to post regularly EVERY DAY for as little as a week and as much as a month (though that's really only for HUGE games with like 50 people). Also, if it you'd like to play but you won't be available 'til Summer, let me know anyway! I may just postpone it 'til then. I just figured Spring Break was the best time besides that to see if anyone was down to play.

I think it's just about died down SO TELL US WHAT KIND OF SICK DEFORMED CREATURE YOU'VE BECOME AND WHAT KIND OF AWESOME POWERS/TRINKETS YOU GOT. I am a radioactive fire monkey-slash-superdog (not to mention devoted husband) with psychic powers and the ability to call down meteors, who plays an electric guitar and screams at the top of his lungs about honor and brotherhood. After unleashing the yeti, gaining control of Belgium and ascending to my rightful place as the Embodiment of Greed, I plotted to fill KH-Vids with copies of myself, but ultimately met my end strapped to a wheel and rolled into a river, and as I was not advised on how to cheat death, it apparently stuck. Before that I managed to learn how to cook, reunite with a long-lost friend, actually make sec mod, and give out free ice cream and at least one round of cunnilingus. I am survived by my adorable daughter and her adorable pet rabbit, and I am prophesied to return as a harbinger of the apocalypse atop a magenta horse. So what'd you get :L
YES INDEED LADIES AND GENTLEMEN WE HAVE REACHED CRITICAL MASS.

...NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU TRY YOU CAN'T f ● c k w i t h t h i s This is a sample of stuff I've done sporadically over many months. I realized I probably had enough to make a post out of them, so here I is :L Quality varies wildly, I am still far from a consistent style rofl. CnC appreciated of course. Especially on the sig, since it was an experiment. Will try to find sources if asked. (I keep poor track of them, but I get them all the same way so hopefully I can find them again :'D) May also be able to provide .psds for some. Unfortunately, since I've used a lot of these as my avatar in the past I'm reluctant to offer them up to others, but just lemme know if you have your eye on one and we'll see what comes of it.
Website • Steam • Wiki Nidhogg is the epic award-winning fencing tug-of-war, full of graceful acrobatics and clumsy stabs. IRL yelling and excitement may occur, in this ultimate two-player showdown of fast-paced fencing and melee attacks. Beware, advantages in Nidhogg are often fleeting, as new opponents continually spawn in your way. ~From the Steam page So yeah, this is Nidhogg. Made by Messhof, who appear to specialize in old-school, Atari-style games for the new age. Just picked this up not too long ago and it's phenomenal, more people need to hear about it. Basically you're a fencer fighting for the honor to be devoured by a hulking pink serpent known as the Nidhogg. Combat takes place in short skirmishes, with a mechanically simple yet mentally complex push-and-pull sort of system - and only moments after your opponent is defeated, s/he respawns only a few feet away. You must defeat a gauntlet of your foe to reach the end of your path, where you are cheered on and chomped on in celebration of your victory. However simple it appears to be, this game has it where it counts: The gameplay is as fun as it gets, and they're not kidding when they say you'll be shouting at your monitor. Features online and offline play, a single-player arcade mode, a tournament mode for groups of four or more, and achievements. Keyboard and gamepad controls are available, and they both function well. Soundtrack by Daedelus, who if you didn't know was the inspiration for my first username on this site, Nouveau Nova. So obviously I'm gonna have a special attachment to this game ; u; 15 bucks on Steam right now, and well worth the asking price. GO GET IT SO I CAN THROW SWORDS THROUGH YOUR EYEBALLS.
Guys, can anybody in Oneida County of NY hole up DigitalAtlas for a month or so? He just got kicked out of his house and he REALLY needs somewhere to crash until he can get a transfer and move in with his gf. Anyone in Rome, Taberg, Vernon, Verona, Oneida, Sylvan Beach, Blossvale, Camden, Lee and Lee Center who can help out would have our eternal gratitude. Just shoot me a PM if you can help, I’ll send you Skype info and such - or message him if you already have it. And if you know anyone in the area, please spread the word and ask if they can help?
While She's Still Using It Even ASK ME ABOUT MY WIENERRRR ORIGINAL FANTASY UNIVERSE Or in other words it's Worldbuilding Wednesday a day early :L The universe in question is for a tetralogy of mine called Colors of the Heart. Some of you have heard me talk about it before. Seein' as it mostly exists in idea form right now, and knowing that I do my best work in conversation, I decided to try Feary's idea - with her blessing, of course. So, y'all can ask me anything about it (Culture, history, notable people etc.). Whatever you'd want to know. You can ask about the story as well, if that's more interesting to you.
MOTHERFUCKER YOU KNOW WHAT TIME IT IS GET THEE TO TOONAMI
We hear it all the time these days. "It's a _____ game with RPG elements" - which usually means stats, ranks, levels, the whole number crunching dealie. My question is, who started it? Was it in an article or review, or on the back of a game case? Trying to figure this out for scholarly reasons, but I'm also interested to hear where's the first you ever heard/read it, so no answer is wrong. The earlier the better. Even the first game you heard described with it will do. E: To clarify, I'm not looking for the first RPG - just the first time someone thought to describe a non-RPG as having RPG elements.
