    Claire went over to the sink and wrung the blood out of the washcloth.

    "But I don't need help," Angel finished.

    Claire came back, wondering why Angel didn't just spit out the reason.

    Angel's expression turned downward in a pout, but then changed to pain as Claire began to stitch up her head.

    "Sorry," Claire apologized. "I don't have anything to numb you up."

    "It's fine," Angel said through grit teeth. "It doesn't hurt."

    "No," Angel growled. "I'm not lying. Nothing hurts. Since that day, every pain is a pinprick. I could never hurt as much as I did that day."

    She'll never let it go... Claire thought sadly, pulling the needle and string. She'll always blame herself...

    "I thought it could've been something different..." Advent grew quiet as he stared at Angel. Nothing to say? I wish... He bit his lip before opening his mouth to add something. "Angel, you obsess over the past way too much. When will you ever move on and have a life like your father probably wanted for you?"

    Claire patted Angel's head. "All done."

    Advent whistled and bounced on his feet. "So...hm..." I remember a nearby store... Time to get her something? Yeah! He ran over to the door, opening it quickly. "I'll be back in a sec!" You never learn, do you? The voice in his head told him as he rushed outside.
