Angel leaned on her elbows, refraining from saying anything else. "I guess we'll just have to see." she murmured, trying to be positive. The sky was slowly turning purple. "We have a few hours. It gets cold at night. And it's your turn to think of something." she muttered.

 

"Don't forget you're the one who wanted to be 'up high'," Emmy muttered as she slowly stood up. She walked to the edge of the roof and peered over. "Maybe we should try to find the others and regroup. That scientist dude said we were supposed to do something, right? It might be safer if we were all together."

 

Angel had to smile. "And meet those guys? You can do that. I'm not going back. They might look for us in a group. One or two wouldn't be easy." She opened her eyes, staring up into the sky. "I'm not a people person. I'm not going to try and be nice to them."

 

Alex quickly followed after Serin, placing her hands against the rooftop as soon as she was behind him. When she moved her hands away and stood up straight, she saw a spot of blood where her hand was, and it was slight smeared. Raising an eyebrow, she looked at her hand, seeing blood on it from when she had it against her shoulder. Alex narrowed her eyes, ignoring it and the pain she still felt on her shoulder.

Deciding to ignore the person, Rosette began walking again, picking up her pace since it was already dark out. If she was caught, she'd be in big trouble. She'd end up being taken back to the palace. Closing her eyes for a brief moment, she suddenly felt someone put their hand around her neck and slammed her against a near by wall, making her yelp. She gritted her teeth and winced as she opened her eyes to see a guard in front of her. Her eyes grew wide, quietly gasping as she put her hands on the guard's arm.

"What are you doing out at this time?" he asked.

 

Emmy looked over her shoulder at Angel and took a deep breath. She didn't want to leave her by herself, but she also really wanted to find the others. She turned her attention towards one of the towers of the castle. "We could check out the area around the castle..." she suggested uneasily. "I haven't been up there yet, except when we left the lab of course. We should get to know our way around the city anyways."

 

The guard looked over his shoulder, seeing Rho coming closer towards him. While one hand held Rosette against the wall, his other hand held on to a gun. The guard raised an eyebrow, pointing the gun at Rho. "Who the hell are you?" he asked.

Rosette stared at Rho, tightening her grip on the guard's arm. When she noticed he wasn't paying attention to her, she quickly kneed him on his stomach, making him step back and let go of her. The guard swung his hand, hitting Rosette on her face. She fell to the side, putting one hand against her cheek, closing her eyes tightly.

Alex once again followed Serin, looking around the area at the same time. "Where are we going, anyway?" she finally asked, crossing her arms, turning her attention to the castle in the distance.

 

Angel looked lazily over at the other girl. "If you want to go search for the others, we can rendezous." she suggested, not too harshly. This girl was almost fragile, she probably wouldn't survive on her own. "I might see if I can find an ocean, I've heard they're gorgeous. The castle...." she shivered. "I don't plan on going back unless it's in a body bag."

 

The moment Rosette opened her eyes, she saw what Rho had done to the guard. Her eyes grew wide as she crawled back a bit; her eyes were set on Rho as she tried forcing her body to stand up and run away, but she couldn't. "Wh-Who are you...?" she hesitantly asked.

Alex looked back at Serin, keeping her mouth shut when he raised his hand. While she stayed quiet, she was trying to hear whatever Serin had heard but she couldn't hear anything. Instead, she crouched down as well, staying quiet in hopes she'd hear something.

 

Emmy took a deep sigh and sat down cross-legged, facing the same direction as Angel. "Whether you want to face it or not, we were created for a reason," she said, almost with a sense of pride. "And we need to find out what that reason is. Once we finish what we are meant to do, we will be free to do what we want." At least that's what I hope, she added to herself. "Wouldn't you want to live without any worries?" she asked.

 

Angel blinked, tucking a piece of hair behind her ears. "What're you gonna eat? Where ya gonna sleep? Are you going to be able to provide for yourself, want to start a family, make a home for yourself? You can't live without any worries, Emmy." You can't.

 

"You won't know until you try," Emmy said optimistically with a smile. She closed her eyes, and suddenly disappeared in a wisp of silvery mist with a "bonf" sound, only to reappear a fraction of a second later out of another silver wisp, standing a few inches ahead of where she was sitting. It made her feel dizzy still, but not as much as the first time. "Yes, I'll get used to that," she muttered, one hand on her head.

 

Angel watched, then raised her eyebrows. "Someone's special." She shook her head, then stood up, stretching. "I'm going hunting." She said suddenly, going to the end of the roof. "I'll be back in an hour. If you're gone...."she shrugged. "Nice knowing you." Jumping, she dove off, then caught a raingutter, flipping to the ground. Standing up, she smiled grimly, then took off jogging, pulling out her whip.

 

"Wait!" she shouted before bringing her hands over her mouth, knowing she might attract more guards by simply shouting. She lowered her head, turning her attention to the dead body in front of her. She slowly moved her hands away from her mouth, inhaling deeply and looking back at Rho. "A-Answer my question..." She said, keeping one hand close to her face while she placed the other where she was hit. "Who are you...?"

Alex watched as Serin left her. She stayed in the same spot for a moment, putting her hands on her hips and looking around the area. She could see a few guards off in the distance, walking around. Is that what they do all night? Patrol and what not? Sighing, Alex turned in the direction Serin had left and followed, wincing as she began to feel the pain on her should coming back. Once she reached the rooftop he was on, she stopped a few feet behind him, placing her hand against her shoulder.

 

"You won't find me here," Emmy replied quietly so that only she could hear. Or at least she thought so. She turned her attention back to the castle. Her eyes scanned the towers, looking for different ways in and for escape routes. She didn't want to go in alone. But she knew that they were going to have to. She was dying to know what their "purpose" was, as mentioned by the scientist that had created them.

 

Flinching back from the blood spatter, Angel turned away from the body now lying behind her. She dunked her whip in a puddle, cleaning it as she furled it and put it away. Leaning against the wall, she closed her eyes. Last one.....but not for long. Grimacing, she looked up, then smiled sweetly at the guard in front of her. Letting the chain fly, she struck the side of his neck, letting it wrap around his neck and jerking, breakign it. Next contestant.
