Jad, pay for me to go on holiday for 3 weeks so I can watch the show non stop.

I need new music to listen to.

I'm on Impel Down and loving it. Seriously. I had very low expectations for this arc but it may end up being one of my favorites.
I also really enjoyed Amazon Lily despite hating Hancock and ofc Sabaody Archipelago was glorious.

Are you talking about Dressrosa or w/e it is? I know it's supposed to be this tournament or something, and since I'm not a fan of tournament arcs I was a little disappointed to hear OP was doing one.

Yeah Impel Down and the one that comes after are huuuuge and great arcs. Saboady of course is amazing.

The Dressrosa arc really isn't a tournament arc lol. Yeah there's a sort of tournament in it, but it's not the center of the plot and it's not for a stupid reason, and also lots of **** happens in it and ~revelations~ and so many amazing things. Like really, everything about it is One Piece at its best.
But you'll see what I mean once you get there.
which should be in a few months I guess lol

Oh okay. I was just worried that OP was falling back on typical shonen fare. Shoulda known better than to doubt op.

It failed because it didn't sexualize the characters enough to sell body pillows, it didn't have a plot for a video game, and so on. For a commercial success in the Japanese industry a show needs to sell all the secondary goods as well. Add that KyoAni, the studio basically responsible for the moe movement was making it they had expectations to fulfill and they didn't deliver. So yeah, I think someone from the studio even publicly apologized for making it at one point. Also, Japan has shit taste.

C as in the money and possibility control? I thought that was pretty bad. Redline was everything I wanted and more.

Ah. Well that's disappointing. I thought it was great, like a breath of fresh air.
    clearly.
Yes, that C. It's been a few years since I've seen it and I remember nothing about it. Obviously it didn't leave much of an impression so I must have not cared for it. Though from what I remember the concept was kinda interesting. Kinda. Yeah Redline's great.

Have you seen Tari Tari? I watched it last month and absolutely adored it. I posted about it a couple times and no one seemed to know what it was. I thought it was really good, which also surprised me considering I'm not too keen on shows centering around a club, especially if that club is a music club. By all accounts I should have hated it. Then again, I watched Seitokai w/e sometime last year and liked it as well. Maybe I don't dislike club shows as much as I thought.

The concept for C was actually pretty good, it was just the characters, plot, pacing, animation and general mediocrity that held it back from being one of those shows everyone loves.

I have not. Truth be told, my animu knowledge is pretty low tier, even on a spectrum for a site as casual as this one. Safe to say I'll be looking into it, I'll get back to you when I have seen it. Seitokai no Ichizon is another one I never watched. I can't say there's a specific type of show premise I usually dismiss because basically anything can be good or bad based on execution. Though, one time I got it into my head that I'd just watch everything with a title that I had seen or heard before. It went horribly.

Okay, sweet. What's funny is that my watching both shows originated with seeing clips on YT and having a fleeting moment of interest just large enough to give them a shot. From my experience Seitokai is not nearly as good as Tari Tari, but it's a fun little show. Since watching anime isn't a regular hobby of mine I'm fairly prejudice when it comes to deciding what I'm willing to watch. Of course now having seen Nichijou, Seitokai, and Tari Tari especially, I'm beginning to move away from that.
Why would you even try that? I once decided that I was going to watch every Gundam show ever. By the end of it I didn't even like Gundam that much anymore.

I just remembered how I first discovered Tari Tari. Do you remember posting this video a long while ago? Well I watched it, and the person who made it also made a video with Tari Tari in it. Fast-forward a year or so and I look the video up again out of curiosity and find out it's name and watch it. go figure.

After a great pain, a formal feeling comes
The nerves sit ceremoniously like tombs
But sooner than you think, he rolls in his grave
And he spits the truth upon your name
For the sake of pity, for the sake of the human race
Perhaps he is the one that does not know disgrace

It was summer and I don't like people. While we're on Gundam. I fucpking love Gundam. Gundam is one of the reasons I'm in engineering. Gundam is one of the few series that I just get hyped over no matter what. When it's good, I get hype over how much I love it. When it's bad, I hype laugh over how bad it is and talk all kinds of ****. It's just one of those things that I enjoy when it's good and when it's bad. But your comment from a while back about protagonists made me feel like it was one of the things you were ungood with. Fun fact though, Gundam originally aired in the middle of the day so small children and housewives would be the target demographic. Which says a lot about the series if you think about it.

    Figures it'd be fucking Nyanners.

Wait, what? I'm not sure what you're talking about.
My relationship with Gundam is very complicated. It's one of those things that I used to really love, but made the mistake of getting wrapped up in the fandom which tainted it for me big time. Not in the sense of something like Frozen where the fandom is annoying so I already have these feelings tied to something I haven't seen, but in that I was such a part of it and at some point I realized how venomous it was and that I needed to leave. So now all of these negative emotions are tied to Gundam. Though I am slowly getting over that, and it did teach me never to fully subscribe to a single fandom so that's good. Suffice it to say that I have major problems with Gundam that I won't get into here, yet I still love it for various reasons.
About bad Gundam. Yeah, I can see that. But watching Victory was one of the worst experiences of my life and I had zero fun while watching it.
I did not know that, but yes, it does.

Have you heard about the new series this fall? I watched the promo for it and it has me excited for Gundam in a way I haven't been excited for Gundam in a long time.

It was something about people saying they hate war and then fighting. I just know the first thing that popped into my head was Gundam when you said it.

I guess that makes sense. I'm not one for fandoms to being with so I've never really gotten to the point where I was in any meaningful way a part of one. There's a long explanation of that but I think it doesn't bear saying. But I do understand that things sometimes get associated with other things when they're that close so that part makes sense to me. I've only watched the original Mobile Suit Gundam, G Gundam, Gundam Wing, Gundam Seed, Gundam Seed Destiny, Gundam00, Gundam Age, and Gundam Unicorn. Oddly enough, I don't actually follow the series I just watch it when I'm hanging out with this guy who builds a lot of Gunpla so I'm super not up to date with news.

Just watched an "Everything Wrong With RWBY" vid.

Man am I glad I dropped that series. I know the EWW videos are usually just joking, but...RWBY's bad. Plain bad. The writing (the cast are beyond boring,) the inconsistent quality, the voice acting, the pacing, etc.

Actually, that's why I watched it all the way through. It was really obvious what was bad about it (everything) and it was really easy to criticise it and complain about it. It's just one of those things that it's fun to shit talk.

Oh, I'm not sure what I was referring to but it was probably directed specifically at Gundam.
Ah, I see. I have a soft spot for Seed, being the first series I saw. I'd love to know your thoughts on them at some point.
And from what little I've heard the new series is supposedly a reskin of a series that Tomino, the guy who made Gundam, had planned to do. It looks p. cool.
Ooh man Gunpla. That was my main hobby for a long period of time but I got tired of it and sold them all. That and it's super expensive and I just wasn't willing to shell out that kind of money anymore. I do still have a few set up around my room though.

Ugh, that thing. I hate that thing, which I know isn't much of a surprise coming from me. I haven't seen it and I don't even know what it is really (lol), but from everything I have seen it looks to be typical otaku fodder trying to grab a specific audience based on the aesthetic and high-concept alone. I look at this design with the typical anime girl in the typical anime garb with the typical ridiculous anime weapon and just roll my eyes. I don't even know what the story or premise is, but the fact that I'm not wrong in it being terrible does not surprise me.

I was trying to think of some yesterday (I'm bad at coming up with things like that) to no success and with school and finals and papers and all that I've been in panic mode for a few days and haven't been able to give extensive thought to much else. Still going to try to come up with some, but if I don't, sorry.
