So I just lost an 8 Gigabyte Memory Stick.

Apparently, it's now RAW instead of FAT like it needs to be. And now my PSP won't read it. And Windows won't format it. Partitioning doesn't work either.

    Why me?

Why do you want a fat memory stick? You should be happy that it's changing its ways to become a healthier memory stick.

Looks like you lost all that porn you saved. Too bad for you, eh?

This is serious. I lost all of my saved game files. Now I have to start over from scratch.

And I didn't lose any porn. That's what the internet is for.

If it reformatted to RAW then there is no getting your files anyway, Any reformatting will wipe or corrupt the files (depending on how it happened). In the case of corrupted files a professional might be able to get back some of your files. But I doubt anything on there is important enough for those measures.

Just tell your PSP to reformat it again and move on from square one.

I tried doing it from my PSP, but that wouldn't work either. Whenever I try reformat it from there, the PSP tells me that there is no memory stick. However, it still works when I connect the PSP to my computer (still can't be read though).

Alright, thanks. I'll try that and see how it works.
EDIT: Nope, didn't work. Said the write protect switch is on. There is no write protect switch. Dang it.

If it were me, I would put into another system, preferably a Linux one, and work from there. It might be a problem that Windows is having.

Tried that too. Used some partitioning software, and it still wouldn't format even with that. I actually have Ubuntu on my PC for the sole purpose of doing things when I suspect Windows is the problem with doing those things.

I found a few sites referencing this

    http://www.z-a-recovery.com/

I can't exactly test that one for you though since mine is in working order. And at the point I'm less than optimistic on it.

If that fails I think it is just safe to call it dead and try to find a new one.

Using a new OS like Makeze said might work, but considering both Windows and the PSP don't like it I'm not sure Linux (if you even have that available) would help. Still worth a shot if you can do it though.

EDIT: multitasking fail. Ignore my comments on Makaze's solution.

To be honest, I tried that yesterday. Unfortunately, no luck. I think it's safe to say it's pretty much dead. Oh well. I'll just have to stay on my two GB memory stick that I use for music until I find my original one (which is also two GB.)

And as I said, I already tried Linux (Ubuntu to be exact) and got nothing.

The hell? I pronounce your name right in my head but somehow taught myself how to type it wrong.

I seriously had to look at my posts directly because I thought you might have been trolling me there (though that method of it hardly seems your style).

EDIT: Damn I need sleep. I'm typing it right in general, that one was just a typo.

    I love messing with you.

I edited my post to be more my style. Thanks for the tip.

I was referring to editing the quote so that I would think I typed it wrong even if I didn't. Not something I would put entirely past you, but not something I would expect from you either.

The worst part was is I didn't realize at first that you were doing a mistake breakdown, I thought I typed it wrong three times.

Mistake breakdowns are out of character for me. Eh.

    Nice...
