No Thanks Post count in groups

My friend was bugging me about this earlier.

Can we have post count in groups?Or have a side catagory called "Group Post" or something?

 

Would you care to elaborate on what you mean?

We have a post count true (everytime we post we get a post added to the post count)? We count posts in groups with the post count...

kidding aside, it would be cool to have posts in groups count

But I do agree that most mods don't have time to moderate groups,anyone can post whatever.

 

Well, on the first hand, I'm really not sure this is possible, haha.

And if we did that, we'd have to moderate the groups & delete spam and such. Which is... a lot of work. I've always seen them as a kind of Group VM. If you have something you should be getting a post count for--something that could be a forum thread--post it on the forums!

 

This. If this actually went through then I could see some people joining an obscure group and just spamming it to get their post counts up, there's way too many groups for the staff to ever be able to handle them efficiently.

If the posts DID count there then that would encourage people being on their own and only talking to people in their little group, which is not really something we want on a forum like that, is it?

 

On a related note, one thing I think I might of brought up before but I'm not finding now is for an unofficial post count. That is to say a second post count that is based off every post regardless of location. Though I'm not thinking that is possible either.

 

Some of the family threads get pretty spammy. It'd be easy to just spam a family thread your part of in a casual conversation deliberatly to get prem or run up the post count. Idk, its not my decision.

When I wanted to run up my post count, I did it the old fashioned ay, by going into different threads and forming logical cohearen thoughts, and writing them to inform others.

I'll also add to the notion that it isn't really a good idea. :/
I mean... yeah the groups aren't used... ALL THAT MUCH. so it would make people use them more..
but still they are used a little, and this would make things go from one extreme of hardly any use to the other of... SPAM! (and we have the spamzone for that... which is exactly why posts don't count)
Not being funny, but we'd sooner see posts count in the RP zone (which they never will...) than see them count for groups.
