Personally, I believe that it was self defense of the employee up until he attacked him while they were down. Of course, one of the girls may have had a weapon, but that's just random speculation. In the beginning he was just attacking himself, but it ended up just beating the two of them.

Wow ya I agree that it would be self defense for himself. But not once they were already down though. Wow a fractured skull...

I think I'll have to side with the employee here.

I mean, sure, maybe he could have done it another way, such as calling the police, but when the threat's right now in front of his face, there's really no other option.

I hope the attackers get out in jail.

Good thing it wasn't Burger King cuz that would've been one hell of a whopper!

    *ba-dum-crash*

But seriously, what did the cashier do to make the women angry?

I mean those must've been some really bad threats for him to go all out on them.

    Actually they would have-

    *shades*

    -had it their way.

    I'm loving it. *cough*

At first you have to side with the employee, cause he looks to be protecting himself and other workers after two people tried to rush them. After he started mercilessly beating them to a pulp when they were clearly down is where he looses. I mean that guy looked sick...like had he not been stopped he would have literally beaten them to death.

Im on the side of the Employee but I think it Should have been handled differently by calling the manager.
They were just asking for it by climbing on the counter.
But on top of that, what did the Employee do to get them mad?

Well, you don't know what ticked off those women... You only get a snippet of the whole situation...

Aaaaanyhow, I'm going to side with our (Dutch) laws of self-defence here. Of course you can act in self-defence, but beating someone while that person is crawling away isn't self-defence anymore. It's just downright abuse.

So your solution is to beat them senseless and then have them go to jail?

Honestly they were both wrong. Self defense can only go so far. And recently it has been just a BS excuse.

This is disgraceful, god knows how this can be classed as self defense. I mean, sure it was wrong for the women to slap him, but assaulting them with a metal rod is going to far. How much damage can 1 slap do compared to a metal rod? He could've killed them! All they could've done is damage his manly pride.

Disgraceful or not, they had it coming. It might have been a bit to the extreme side, but I don't feel bad for either of the two guys who jumped over. They obviously needed a beating. And No one knows if they were reaching for something when they were on the floor either.

This happens more often than you think.
The only difference is this one was recorded.

    true enough.

I side with the employee though. I mean, he shouldn't have beat them like that, but you have no idea if he had anger problems, if they made some sort of racist comment, or something else. Nothing really makes it allowed to beat a person like that, but I think the women are at fault here trying to provoke him like that and attacking him. Truthfully, they're actually the ones that ended up attacking him, jumping the counter, and going after him. He just decided to raise the baror should I say rod and hit them back....just with a metal object.
Still, I could probably raise this as self-defense. Having a fractured skull and...well whatever laceration is; they should not have attacked they cashier. Truthfully, I can't really feel bad for them. I actually ended up laughing when they yelled for the cops, because I was wondering "Now who should get arrested? The ones who attacked and tried to follow up? Or the one who defended himself....and beat them up with interest"

I think it was self defence , but it was taken a bit too far. He should have just asked her to leave , but that was a bit too serious. the woman was even screaming..so it was taken too far. Anger issue's much?

Sounds like he started it as self defence but ended up going way too far.
Basically, the common McDonald's employee and the nut job customers as usual. This happens all the time. I'm surprised they don't just put a sign up "Nut jobs beware, we also employ nuts like you."

The guy really should've stopped after they were down. Someone can't plead self-defense after something like that.

Kinda saddened here that people actually believe this it what self-defense entails. "Anger issues" or whatever else you want to call it just won't hold up in court. It's just speculation to believe that one of those two were pulling out a weapon right in front of several employees who were watching this. Getting hit with a metal pipe(or whatever the hell that was) hurts. It would've been pretty damn hard for them to pull out a weapon seeing as how fast they went down to begin with.

which I find sad and amusing, considering they're the ones that attacked him. They should have remember, "Payback's a b****"
At least I finally have a reason to use that phrase.

Still, I'm betting you those women were the kind that thought they were all that and also thought that they could get what they want no matter what. But that's just speculation on my part

Oh , in that case though. The self defence was right , but still. I think he took it too far. But i guess that's what the lady gets for screwing with a McDonald employee

I sided with the employee...up until he decided it was okay to strike them even more while they were down. That's a big no.

You have to be able to defend yourself. Once they're down, have someone restrain them and call the cops. That's how I was trained when I worked a grocery store in a poor, urban area, where a cashier had been maced for refusing to run beer as food stamps. They attack you, you attack back, restrain, and call 911. Any more than that and it's you who gets sued for assault, not them.

Well, without much information, you can't really make a decision.

If the women really did seem dangerous, I'm with the employee - But he should've stopped after they started asking him to stop.
