Relli watched, eyes trained on Daeni as she picked up the book and flipped through it. They weren't sure, but the did wonder if perhaps the book was the key to the mysteries that surrounded the group. Either way, it was definitely important. "Make sure you keep that book, Daeni," Relli said, voice cracking slightly. Their throat was dry, and the whispers were still screaming in their ear, and it made the young prince unable to concentrate on anything for long. They swung the flashlight around the small room, looking for the source of the whispers, but found nothing except for the corpses of the long dead. Why had they called them there if there was nothing? Was it the book? Or something else?

Then, a voice sounded from outside, and it was like a spell had broken, the tension in their body snapped. The flashlight dropped from Relli's hand, only to be replaced a moment later with their keyblade. They whirled around on the spot and sped out of the crypt, taking the steps two at a time. Cerdic and Marley took out of a few of the small shadows, but Relli payed them no mind, with only the singular thought of getting rid of the heartless. They lept up and over the few remaining shadows, nicking one as they went, and pushed their way back out into the meager light of the graveyard.

Chrys was surrounded on all sides by Gigas Shadows, with one, even larger Mega Shadow hovering off to the side closest to the crypt. Head still pounding, Relli rushed forward and smashed the keyblade through the Mega Shadow, splattering it back into wisps of darkness. It was here, unfortunately, that the headache overwhelmed them, and they sank to their knees, head in their hands. The pain was overwhelming and debilitating, and it felt like they were being split in half. For a long moment, Relli could do nothing but sit and breathe through their nose until it passed.

After it passed, the whispers were still in their head, but lessened now that they were out of the crypt. Their head still hurt, but they could deal with it. They'd had worse. They dug their keyblade into the ground and used its weight to pull themself back to their feet, then fell back into a battle stance. They weren't going to fall here, that was for sure.

Marley, who Cerdic had forgotten was actually there, finally perked up it seemed when there was a battle at hand. What a weirdo, first masking their gender so well, and now choosing to respond only for the battle. What about all the awesomeness that he had shown? Why hadn't Marley perked up for that. It should have been enough to catch anyone's interest. Why did he hang around with that thing in the first place? Reaching into her mind Cerdic came up with nothing, but he supposed that there was a reason out there somewhere as to why he hung out with this group, and the reason Marley was there, was sure to be included with that.

Relli then also stepped into action telling Daeni to hold onto the book. Did anyone ever think about the fact that the book was likely the cause of all this? Of course not because no one here seemed to think. Even with that said between Relli and Marley and him they were able to scare all the heartless outside the crypt, giving Cerdic a shot at freedom. Naturally, he was the first to bolt out of the crypt into the welcoming wide open space that was the graveyard beyond, where it was safe.... Well safe except for the heartless that still crawled around.

The first instinct was to run for the gate and out of this terrible place. The other path might have had birds, but it didn't seem to have creepy voices that called to them and heartless attacking them. That being said, the heartless had made him look weak, showed how scared he really was. For that they had to pay. Turning around Cerdic started his rampage through the shadows that remained. Their numbers started to dwindle and the big guy was gone, from here it would be a piece of cake to deal with the little guys, before getting the hell away from there. Four shadows, that was easy enough. Cerdic turned his focus to those four that remained, slaughtering each and every one of them before turning his attention to the slightly bigger guys. With a mighty cry of a warrior, Cerdic threw himself at a Gigas shadow, and much to his surprise, actually managed to defeat it without getting too hurt himself. Of course nothing was without injury and he had revieved a scratch, but being the man he was, he could withstand that, it was not a huge deal, besides he had just taking down five heartless, it was almost like he was the hero here.

After Marley had managed to get out of the crypt, they had seen what other heartless there were that had ambushed them. Whistling at the sight of the Mega Shadow, feeling somewhat impressed at the size of the creature in comparison to everything else around it, Marley twirled their keyblade a bit. While they were getting themselves pumped to take on such a large foe, someone else had taken the initiative. As they had emerged from the crypt, Relli had launched an attack against the Mega Shadow, killing it pretty quickly. Pouting a bit at the sight, Marley still decided to give some form of praise to their comrade as they said, "yeah, good job taking that out. Nice." Their tone was flat and almost layered with a bit of disappointment, though they didn't say anything beyond that. Furthermore, they didn't quite pay attention as the smaller shadows had escaped from the crypt, and didn't even really see Cerdic go and deal with them. Instead, her attention had shifted to the Gigas Shadows that had surrounded the Chrys. The male seemed to be a little worse for wear, but otherwise was holding his ground against the large shadows just fine. Seeing this, Marley called out to him saying, "hey, nice party you're having over there."

As they were about to go and crash it themselves, Cerdic had leaped in and struck at one of them. Without much difficulty, he seemed to be able to dispatch of one of them, which only served to pump Marley up to fight these things even more. Spinning their keyblade, they tossed it at one of the Gigas-shadows before charging after it. As the keyblade struck the creature, a large chuck of darkness was torn off the creature before Marley had summoned the keyblade back to their hand. The creature started to bring their claw up to swipe at them, but being already injured, it merely took one swing of the keyblade to deal the death blow to the creature. As the creature was slain, another of the Gigas-shadows leaped at Marley, however the keyblade wielder seemed prepared. Charging a blizzard spell into their keyblade, they launched a spike of ice at the head of the creature, causing it to lose all forward momentum. As it stopped in front of Marley, the keyblade wielder gripped their blade tighter, swinging diagonally upward once, before pivoting on their foot, and bringing it downward in the opposite direction. As they had created the x-shaped slash across the creature's chest, it burst into darkness, defeated. As another of the shadows approached Marley, they could only parry the claw away from them, before stepping backward and away from the creature.

'Nice Party' IX had said. Oh yes. A very nice party. After jarringly being outside of an indefinitely sized crypt of which there had been no specific rules about entering, the shock of being surrounded by heartless and struck had definitely taken something of a toll on him. Thankfully, the group was small, and with his preemptive strike, most of the enemies were already taken out. However, there were still two left. After recovering, the young man sent a quick one-two strike to his nearest opponent, a nearly downed opponent which had been distracted by the others. It vanished the same way all heartless did.

After that, he used a stop spell on the last remaining one, and made another quick- though unfortunately weak- blow.

They were almost there. By the time Relli stood up from their short respite, the majority of the remaining heartless had fallen, leaving only a lone half-dead Gigas Shadow. Listing to the side a bit, Relli took a few steps forward and shoved their keyblade through it, finally ending the battle. As the final enemy burst into wisps and floated away, the young prince watched it go, then turned back to their companions. No one seemed terribly hurt, which was fortunate, but they were no closer to answers than they were before. Tired, Relli sat down again, and dismissed their keyblade.

While Daeni wasn't quite proud of what she just did, she did it for the goodness of the group. Sure, Cerdic suggested putting the book back, but what was the point? It had some good stuff in it and Daeni just knew it belonged to somebody important. Maybe she'd find out who it went to some day, but for now, she had to protect it. So, she stayed in the crypt and listened to her comrades simply fight their hearts out.

When the dust settled and she couldn't hear fighting any more, Daeni emerged from the crypt, journal in her hand. She gripped it tightly and stared at her comrades. "Is it safe?" she asked.

Alder looked at where Xen's glasses had fallen after Ria disappeared, wishing he had managed to take out Ria with that one strike. It wasn't enough and their enemy could just take that kind of blow and heal up like nothing. Ria's words were off putting and seemed to give away a great amount of detail for how little was said but...without more background on what was going on he had no idea what to make of it just yet. Though the fact that Ria thought their journal was left behind in the cave did say something to him. "We need to find those people." Alder said with determination, his keyblade vanishing now that the Heartless (and Ria) were gone.

    "Any idea where to start?"

When Xen had been murdered, Kara had summoned her keyblade in preparation to attack, but had been too scared to move. She'd seen Rhia fighting before, but she hadn't seen him do that. It reminded her of something she'd once seen, and the thought that Rhia was capable of that shook her to the very core of her being. She stood, frozen, as Rhia talked about the group of people and the journal, among other things, before they left. She didn't move for a moment, everything sinking in, before she nodded slowly in response to Alder's question.

"I-I don't know the exact spot, but I can remember leading a group of people. I remember that Aevum had thought of a place to keep the people of this town safe, and I remember believing in that plan. I led them down..." she said, pointing off into the distance in the direction her memories told her, "down in that direction, but my memory's still too hazy to get an exact location. Maybe going in that direction will jog it, I don't know, but I think it's the only thing we have to go off of right now" Kara said, moving slowly in the direction that she remembered. The people would be safe at the location once she remembered, they had to be; because if they weren't, it meant that it was Kara who had likely directed them towards whatever made them vanish.

As the heartless were finally defeated, the whispering became much more silent and as things settled down, memories began to slowly return to many of the players. Some people's were sharper than others. Some of the whispers manifested themselves in the memories. There was a moment of silence that lasted no time at all as the darkness seemed to move in reaction to someone, like a jolt of pain, before violently moving away.

    You're going to ruin everything.

The darkness clears up relatively quickly after that, disappearing from the graveyard. Clearing it up so the sky could be seen, and the light could shine down. The fog was still there. But it was not as horribly dark as it was before.

    ---

The girl was still there, she held her hands together and asked, "Are you three the only ones left? Maybe we should look for your... group... before that person does anything to them... I don't want to see your friends go missing too..."

Memories came back and flooded Daeni's brain, causing her to fall to her knees. She held her head and groaned in pain, watching a memory flash before her eyes. She paid close attention and started to cry. "But it did happen..." she said, as the memory faded back into her brain. She looked up to Relli and looked a little sad. "Relli, it did happen." she said again, standing up and gazing to the sky. "Alder did his best, I think...but it did happen...I...I think...if this heartless are any proof of it." she said.

Feeling the light shine down made her feel warm again. For the longest time, Daeni felt cold, even with the sweater. "The light sure is warm..." she smiled, closing her eyes and enjoying this momentary light.

The heartless were cleared out, and how couldn't they have been? After all he was fighting them and just his presence there should have been enough to drive them away. That wasn't the way it worked in the end, but Cerdic liked to think it was. And with the defeat of the heartless, even the odd whispers started to calm down, and Cerdic could relax a little bit. "No need to thank me. I already know I am awesome." Cerdic addressed the others that were there with him, taking a moment to enjoy the break from the creepy whispers.

Just as he started to relax, memories filled his mind and instinctively Cerdic gabbed at his chest in memory of the pain. His other hand went to his head as he closed his eyes trying to focus on what he was seeing through his memories as they began to return. A slight gasp escaped his mouth as the memory stopped coming, he then turned to Daeni.
"Give me that book now Daeni. I need to look at it." He ordered, recognizing the name that he had said in his memory matched the name Daeni said the book belonged to. Perhaps that book had more information. Information that he needed in order to figure out what had happened to them, their memories. Now he knew that this somehow had to do with darkness. While the small snippet of memory was hardly enough to tell him exactly what happened, it was a start. Apparently they had given Aveum their darkness, but the question was, was it a willing thing? By what he remembered it didn't seem like it was, but there were many pieces of his memory still missing. Many parts of the story undiscovered. The journal might have been a step in finding out more of the story, and once he did, he fully planned on destroying the journal.

After the last of the heartless had been dealt with, the gang had all regrouped themselves. Dismissively, waving their hand towards Cerdic as he praised himself, once again, saying, "right right." As Daeni asked if it was safe around them, Marley triumphantly nodded, only to then realize that things around them had gotten a lot quieter. Before they could take note about what this meant, though, a sharp pain went through their head. Going to clutch their head on instinct, they could feel memories start to resurface in their mind. The atmosphere of the memory was a mystery to them, and they couldn't even piece together what it was they were doing. But there they were, facing...someone. Who? They looked at their face but each time they tried to recall it the same question just kept coming to mind. Who? Who? Who?

Each time they asked the question it only got less and less clear and each time they tried to remember who the face belonged to their head only hurt more. Eventually, the pain seemed to erupt across their body, taking hold in their chest. Clutching their chest, eyes forced shut from the pain, sweat forming across their brow, Marley tried to remember more about what was going on. However, the more they tried, the more pain they felt. Eventually, just trying to brute force it became unbearable, letting out one large grunt of pain, before finally giving up. When they had, the pain started to subside and they finally were able to stand back upright. Breathing heavily, feeling far more exhausted from this ordeal then any of the actual fighting, they simply muttered, "ruin what?"

Trying not to bring it up, the somewhat fatigued keyblade wielder looked at the others, Cerdic who seemed to be insistent on getting the book and Daeni who was stargazing. Looking up, they felt some odd sense of relief to see that the overbearing darkness had somewhat subsided in the area, before looking back to the two of the other LIGHT members. The words that Daeni had said finally processing in their head, they more specifically to her and said, "wait, what did he do?"

“Not really sure…” Chrys answered Marley as his own period of recollection was ending. Two children… a sanctuary of some sort? There was a bit too much information that was without context in that memory. There was certainly a little he could glean from it, but… the key word was ‘little’.

Kara had been in it though. Maybe… it might be a bit of a long shot but maybe, she had remembered something about it too. Besides, if the others’ actions were any indication, they had all likely recalled something of a sort. Kara remembering something wasn’t a stretch. In fact, maybe the other members with him had remembered something relevant themselves.

“On what appears to be similar lines, I don't suppose any of you remember something about… taking inventory?”

Ria was gone and once more the name 'Aevum' was brought up. According to Kara they had found a way to keep the people safe, though whether or not the plan had actually succeeded was still an unknown variable to all this. After what had just happened, Kara going off on her own was not something that would sit well with him if they just let her do that.
"Yeah. Hopefully there's a point that where the path we took re joins with the path that they took." Hopefully that would be the case, it would save them some back tracking if it were.

One more thing was on Chrono's mind and it was soon said once he'd turned his attention towards Alder.
"What else about the extractor do you remember?" It was something that he wanted to ask ever since he'd said that it was supposed to be used to extract darkness from hearts. Why would there need to be a machine for that purpose in the first place?

Alder crossed his arms and thought for a moment over what was the best course of action. Honor dictated that those missing people needed to be found but with only three of them left and having to watch over a defenseless girl...well, their odds of finding those who went missing weren't good with just them looking. Thankfully, Kara remembered the general direction in which she led the townspeople even if the fine details of that memory were lost. "If we can't find them soon, we need to head back and regroup with the others. Bringing them back here to help search would speed this up." And who knows what kind of dangers the others might have come across? Hopefully Ria hadn't surprised them too...

When Chrono spoke asking what Alder remembered about the extractor he had no choice but to be open about everything he remembered because being silent and holding secrets was getting them nowhere. Everyone needed to open up about what they remembered. Now.
"The extractor was made to draw darkness from people's hearts. It created a portal to...some place dark. The Realm of Darkness I believe. It summoned hordes of Heartless." Alder began to follow after Kara alongside Chrono. "I'm...not so sure we can trust Aevum. Whoever he is. I remember catching someone stalking around the Extractor...and telling Aevum not to use the Extractor in...some way." Alder found it difficult to explain considering how foggy the details were. Was it Aevum he found stalking around? The words he remembered seemed to imply that. Did he want to prevent Aevum from using it for some evil purpose? He did not know. Perhaps Aevum and himself stood on opposition on how the Extractor was meant to be used. But why was he around the Extractor in the first place? Did LIGHT create the Extractor?

"In any case...that's all I remember. Kara. Chrono. It's time to drop the secrets you're keeping."

Chrono listened to what Alder had told them about the extractor and by the end of it he wasn't sure just to think about the machine that they had woken up next to. Realm of Darkness, hordes of heartless, neither of which sounded like something that he would what to see. Why would those be connected to the extractor in the first place. Perhaps that was why it was used in the way that Aevum used it, whatever it was anyway.

"The only things I've been able to remember have been my name, how to use the keyblade and a journal. Not even what was in it, just a journal itself." Having said that out loud, it was pretty sad sounding. While his name and keyblade were both helpful during the time that he remembered them, the journal on the other hand hasn't been as helpful so far. There was still the others though and hopefully they had some answers.

"What're you going to do to it?" Daeni asked Cerdic. "We have to keep it, we may need it later. I won't give it back to Aevum, but what if it has what we need in it?" She said this to Cerdic while clutching the journal tightly. "I'll give it to you, but don't destroy it, okay?"

It wasn't like she knew he was going to destroy it. She just had this bad feeling based on Cerdic's reaction to things lately. The journal felt like it was full of knowledge that they may need. She definitely wouldn't let it leave her sight or her persons as long as she had it. Well, it wouldn't go that far. She'd let Cerdic see it, sure, but she'd certainly hate him if he destroyed it.

Daeni handed the journal to Cerdic and muttered something to herself. "You're going to destroy it....aren't you?"

Daeni didn't seem willing to give up the book so easily, but he didn't have time for her stupid antics. What did she think he was going to do with it? What did one normally do with a book? He would read it. What he did after that depended on what was inside the journal. If there was nothing off too much importance to anything in it, then Daeni could hold onto it and whine about it all she wanted. If it was something of dire importance or something dangerous then he might destroy it, though Daeni didn't need to know that.

Cerdic, not wanting to try and talk Daeni into things, simply put all his effort into ripping the book straight from Daeni's hand before running away from her towards a corner where Daeni could grab the book back. He then frantically flipped through the pages, scanning them, reading them for anything important that might come up to do with the memory that he had. He wanted to know what exactly happened to them and how it worked when Aevum said they gave him the darkness. If this had the answers then he would be satisfied to some extent. It still wouldn't clear everything up most likely but it was a step in the right direction. He tried to hide the journal as he looked at it, he didn't want others to see what he was looking at until he finished.

While Daeni did not actually answer what it was that Alder had done to it, there seemed to be some sort of odd confrontation and tension between her and Cerdic. She wasn't quite so sure why he was suddenly so interested in the journal, especially as he had wanted to leave it behind not moments ago. However, while Daeni seemed reluctant to do so, she eventually gave the book over to Cerdic. Marley was only made more curious by really secretive vibe that Cerdic was giving off to the rest of them. Walking up, expression both curious and irked, Marley said, "so what's so interesting about the journal there Mr. Big and Brave." Walking over to him, the keyblade wielder extended out their hand, as if gesturing him to give the journal over saying, "care to share with the class?"

Sitting in the corner Cerdic read through the journal. While he didn't really understand what was going on in the journal, the more he saw his name, the more annoyed he got. Cerdic began to mumble to himself about the things he was reading, about the birds with the yellow eyes. "Come on, come on, come on. There has to be something more useful in here. What the hell is going on?" Letting the anger get the better of him, Cerdic stopped really even trying to understand what was in the journal. To him it felt like a mad mans rambling. By the time he hit the last readable page, Cerdic had enough with it. He ripped out the page and crumpled it in his had. Shoving the journal in the pocket on the inside of his coat, he turned to the gate. The crumpled piece of paper held firm in his hand. Marley soon came up to him speaking in a tone that Cerdic found rather offensive.

"If you want to know look yourself." Anger was more than evident in Cerdic's voice as he shoved the crumpled paper at Marley's chest, not caring if they grabbed it before he dropped the paper and pushed past Marley. "Lets just catch up to the others, and maybe murder someone in the process." Cerdic said dryly referring to Aevum as the person that he wanted to murder. He didn't even look back to see if the others were following him before heading to the gate with full intent on leaving the area.
