"The Paladins. They're looking for me. They want me back, I know it. And you have no clue what they'll do to you if they find out you've been helping me. And hell knows what they'll do to Angel." She looked at him sadly. "It'd just be better for me to go it alone. At least for a while. And plus, you two lovebirds would be better off without me tagging along," she finished and managed a genuine smile.

 

Lance slumped against a wall of an apartment building, not knowing it was Alaric's, he waited to catch his breath the injuries had done more than he thought.

 

She sighed and gave him a look. "Fine. I'll stay for now. But I really don't think this is a good idea."

 

"Spectacular. But I'll stay here for now. My brain's not exactly in the mood for jumping anywhere right now," she said, reading Alaric's thoughts.

 

"Whatever," she said as she lay back down on the couch.

 

"I heard that!" Angel yelled from another room.

 

Lance reached to the door to pull himself up and slipped making him headbutt the apartment bells hitting several. He looked up seeing he had done so, a man came to the entrance and let him in, it was the guard.

 

Angel went silent, "..........Big jerk!" she yelled at Alaric.

 

"I rest my case," Constance laughed, "you two love birds."

 

"......No, we're not......" Angel crossed her arms.

 

"Don't you dare," she warned him. "I'm never gonna be able to get to sleep with us bickering."

 

Rik left the guard and went to see if his hunch about it being Alaric's place was right or not.

 

Angel didn't even look at Alaric, "Maybe".

 

She gave Alaric an evil stare. "You wish."
