I'm about halfway through Final Fantasy XIII

And Sazh and Fang are STILL the only good characters in the game
Lightning went from being an angry ***** to boring background character. Squall did the stoic introvert character a lot better
Snow's still a "DUUR HUUR! WUR HEROOOS!" idiot
Hope went from whiny to trying too hard
Vanille makes me want to shoot myself every time she opens her mouth.

Fang's midriff give me a raging hardon and Sazh is the only mature adult who knows what he's doing.

I can't wait for Versus, Noctis and his entourage of bros look boos as ****.
Seriously, just look at this mother****er

and i thought my friend looked too much into the characters. Can't you just enjoy the story, instead of thinking about how the characters are? It ruins the game when you look at it the way you are

I got sick of playing that game after a while. Honestly didn't like it.


Hell yeah Versus is where it's at. Sure, Noctis looks emo, but I like his hair.


@Aqua - Lol, ignore the characters and just enjoy the story? Aren't the characters as important AS the story? Saying to just...not think about them is a bit nono.

 

I really want that game, but even after seeing others play it or the cut scenes i knew that that was expected to come soon! And, i agree a hundred percent on the whole Vanille thing. I hate her voice! -.-.....

The characters are what carry you through the story. They're the FOCUS of the story. The story would not be there if
if a piece of fiction has bad characters then it becomes almostunbearable to go through the story.

Imagine if you visited space, but the person who was touring you through space was an annoying ******* who constantly bugged you and farted all the time and got drunk every night.
The concept of a tour through space may SOUND cool and may LOOK cool
But the way it was presented when you actually did it was terrible.

I would like to know how YOU manage to ignore the main characters in a story.



They're ARE worse games then Final Fantasy XIII
But I can safely say that Final Fantasy XIII is the WORSE Final Fantasy game.

 

I ended up playing FF13 twice and I found the gameplay to be more entertaining the first time and the story to be more entertaining the second. I really liked the characters. Vanille should of been voiced better, especially since she's narrating, but she isn't all that bad.

@Aqua: I'm not sure if you've played FF13, but like 75% of the story is getting to know the characters.

not played, watched a walkthrough. And I don't care about that, it's the overall story. Besides, when I watched it, I really didn't see it as getting to know the characters. You can get to know characters through a lot of different ways. You got to know the characters in FFVIII and FFX, and I think that was a good chunk of story

 

Don't diss Hope. He was a shy, reserved child with no world experience who watched his mother die. He got mixed up in problems he had nothing to do with, problems way bigger than him. How he handled it was amazing. He went from a scared little kid to a courageous young boy. Hope is amazing, **** you.

 

By your logic, you could replace every character from Final Fantasy XIII with dogs and you think the story would be the same.
The story of Final Fantasy XIII revolves around the characters, their motivations and how they evolve as characters. I think you missed the entire point of the Eidolan fight's, each character had a roadblock that was preventing them from advancing, they wanted to lie down and give up and the Eidolan's came and snapped them out of it.

His irrational hatred of Snow was ****ing stupid. "MY MOM WILLINGLY JOINED HIS GANG AND SHE DIED! THUS IT IS HIS FAULT"
And his Eidolan seemed completely out of the blue, he's all but settled on his previous problems and then all of a sudden "LOL EMOTIONAL CONFLICT! HERE COMES DAREDEVIL!"

 

Oh my, another Hope lover! I love Hope, and i agree with you. He was so fragile after loosing his mom, he watched her plummet to her death. And that is horrible.

 

Characters make the story, and the story does not make the characters. If a story does not focus on making you empathize with the characters or does not do this well, then it is not good for anything but challenging your abilities. This game does not do that...

 

That sounds like a pretty fun game, actually.

 

His hatred of Snow was childish, because if you haven't noticed, he's a child. He hated his Dad (for some reason I haven't pieced together) and then his Mom died. So he was upset at the loss of the last person he called family. He blamed himself for not being able to protect her, but couldn't do anything with that so he blamed Snow so that he could at least get revenge. Logical or not it is a very reasonable way for a person to react.


Though I agree that the Eidolin placement for him wasn't great. Hope was in far more distress at the end of operation NORA than his struggle to realize his own power. It was an important conflict to his character, but it didn't feel Eidolan worthy

 

You have a picture of a cartoon in your signature. Therefore, your opinion on FFXIII is automatically bullshit

I really think Vanille is a pain in the ass. I think in Final Fantasy they have those certain archetypes like the "cheery girl" (Yuffie, Selphie, Rikku) And I don't know she kind of sucks compared to everyone else. Her voice acting is so inconsistent and I just can't take her seriously so far. I mean I haven't finished the game but whatever.

I like all the rest of the characters so far.

I think Versus seems awesome but I don't understand why everyone is obsessing over Noctis like the game isn't even out yet. What if he just looks pretty but his character sux? Idk.

 

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and conclude that you're only pretending to be a ******.

Because from the descriptions of his character so far he sounds like a nice guy who pretends to be a cold hearted badass in order to make up for insecurities but is actually a shy guy who's terrible with women. He reminds me of me when I was a teenager.
Plus I like how they redesigned him to make him look less like a bishounen
