Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
    'Who guards the guardians?" We've got it covered.
    Issue #0
    During World War II, when the US desperately needed to turn the tide of the war, he appeared: the initial "wonder," the original "marvel," the first "superhero." He was given the title One Man Army, though his real name is unknown. A mixture of a military experiment gone wrong and a stroke of fated luck had turned the ordinary soldier into an unstoppable force. With his superstrength and perfect invulnerability, he appeared as a soldier turned god and helped defeat the Nazis and the Axis powers. However, near the end of the war, he disappeared in an explosion, seemingly meeting his preconceived-impossible demise. Shortly after, the Second World War ended and peace fell upon the Earth.
    Origin Story
    After One Man Army's disappearance after World War II, more people with unique abilities came into light. Some had powers, some were just very physically fit, others used gadgets, and the most unusual were simply not human. Beyonders, a term given to humans born with genetic mutations that gave them special abilities, soon started to pop up and, despite some initial backlash, were accepted and thought of as "cool." Of course, it wasn't long before some of these ""wonders," as the superhuman were called, turned to villainy...and heroics.
    It's been 15 years since "superheroes" first came into the public eye, though some have been working in secret since before then. Throughout the years, certain threats had caused the world's greatest heroes to team up in order for good to prevail. Eventually, an alien invasion caused five of the greatest heroes to band together to save the entire world. After this, they decided that they should make it official: becoming an actual team to combat threats that threaten the entire world or threats that they can't handle themselves and so, 7 years ago, the Heroic Sanction was formed by Max Speed, the Crimson Blur; The Cutting Edge, Hero of Tomorrow; Seokama Ibli, Spawn of Fire; Eclipse, the Weather Witch; and Dominion, Master of the Mind. In those 7 years, the Heroic Sanction has saved the world countless times from utter destruction. However, because of their alleged secret identities and their disassociation with the law, it has been difficult to hold them accountable for damages done. Another unfortunate aspect of their team is the fact that they have refused new membership since their formation.
    In order to remedy these issues, the US government founded AEGIS, a secret defense organization that served as a liaison between the government, the public people, and the Sanction. AEGIS' goal is to aid the Sanction with armed and government forces as well as to minimize collateral damage. One of the ways that AEGIS accomplished this was by forming the Justice Allies. The Justice Allies are "cadets" for the Sanctions, a team of young heroes, that are funded and led by AEGIS in order to provide back-up for the Sanction and as a public scapegoat in case of collateral damage. While the Sanction disapproves of the Allies, they have no authority to shut the project down. Coincidentally, Marcus Steel, Vice-Commander of AEGIS and billionaire genius was not only placed in charge of the Justice Allies, but is the benefactor behind Cutting Edge, one of the members of the Heroic Sanction and personal bodyguard of Steel.
    In light of all the heroes, both old and new, super villains have decided to band together as well and have formed the Rogues, a secret society of villains. While the goal of the Sanction is to protect the world and the goal of the Allies is to help the Sanction, the goal of the Rogues is simply to aid each other in crimes and protect each other from the united forces of the heroes.

    "You...can do this," sighed the spandex-covered young man. "Breathe..." he told himself as he stared at the ground. "It's easy. You do stuff like this in your sleep, man," but somehow, he wasn't assured. "Alright, maybe not in my sleep," he muttered. There he was, balancing upside down on one hand with his legs in split-form, in a perfectly horizontal line and yet, his testicles weren't in pain. All of his weight was centered on his right hand, supporting the hero on the pillar.

    Runner was in his personal "gym" at Justice Central. Every Ally had one. Thanks to AEGIS' near unlimited resources and state-of-the-art technology, every Ally was equipped with a special room that they could use to train. The room was outfitted with everything that they could possibly need to hone their abilities and was made just for each Ally. Their own personal "danger room," as Runner called it. His was centered on virtual reality. It was a large circular room with several machines and objects around it. There were wires hanging from the ceiling, pillars and large blocks located randomly, and even more hidden "obstacles." The room had its own artificial intelligence. Runner didn't understand the science behind it, but he didn't need to; he understood enough. The lens in his mask and the band on his head were directly interfaced to the room. Upon entering and starting the program, his lens changed what he saw: the room suddenly becomes a city-scape with Runner on a rooftop. The golden band on his head would then transmit signals to Runner's mind, tricking his body into making it think it was really outside. If he ran into wall in the virtual city, then his body would not just feel pain, but would feel the brick of the building, as opposed to the steel that composed the room. The room was constantly changing so even though Runner was in a confined space, the room could simulate openness. For example, here he was, balanced upside-down on one hand with on a pillar roughly 15 feet off the ground. However, he saw himself balancing on a rooftop ledge, over 50 stories off the streets. He could feel the wind from the altitude, although there was none in the room. The Justice Ally let out a single sigh as he bent his elbow..and then pushed himself off the edge.

    "OH MY FREAKIN' JESUS!!" The rush of wind was incredible as he fell headfirst, gaining velocity which every window that blurred by. 'Holycrapholycrapholycrapholycrap,' he thought as he could see the sidewalk rushing to meet him. Although he has been comfortable jumping across rooftops for a few years now, he had never tried something like this from this high. He was used to three, five stories tops. 'Five...four...three-ohmygod-' He started to count down as the roof of the adjacent building came closer and closer, as well as the sidewalk directly below him. 'Two...ONE!' He kicked the building swiftly and powerfully, shooting himself from a vertical fall towards the sidewalk to a somersault and then a diagonal fall towards the nearby rooftop. 'Don't stop. Use your momentum as a shield. Graduallym ove your body to a stop, don't just stop,' He changed his posture into a diving position as the roof became closer. 'Aim for your shadow. You'll never miss,' he instructed himself. It was nifty little trick he had learned over the years. Aim for your shadow and you'll never miss; if you know you won't miss, you can spend so much more energy into planning the next move and moving the right way if you're not worried about accuracy. 'And....roll!" His hands hit the rooftop first as his body rolled completely. In one fluid motion, he rolled and jumped immediately. "There we go!" He yelled with cheer as he flew through the air. He had enough momentum to jump over most of the roof he was on and onto the othe-"CRAP!" And suddenly everything went black.

    'Way to go, Jackie. Now you're dead.'

    "...Hello?" Runner opened his eyes to the sky, but instead saw the ceiling. He was back in his danger room, lying on his back with his arms and legs spread. It was obvious what had happened. He had mistimed his jump to the next roof and instead of reaching the ledge, he had hit the wall of the building. At his speed, his body should have been crushed upon impact. If that didn't kill him, the fall would have. However, he was traveling both a fraction of the distance he had thought and a fraction of the speed. Though jumping into the wall of the danger room at the speed he was actually traveling at wouldn't have killed him, both his mind and body had imagined that he had really jumped into a building and shut down for death. And when something like that happens in virtual-land, the program shuts off. Unfortunately, Runner was semi-paralyzed for a moment as his body came to the realization that he hadn't really slammed his body against a brick wall. "And the rookie of the year award goes to...me." He said aloud, sighing.

    Abigail Grace, Medical Student, was doing her homework. So exciting. It needed to be done though, being a superhero didn't work as an excuse for not doing your work. She'd been busy enough as it was and she needed to get this done in the little time she had. Spirit, her alias, might be able to go off and save the world and heal everyone with a simple touch but unfortunately it wasn't that easy for Abigail Grace. It might seem a bit silly that someone with healing powers was studying medicine but for her it was the logical choice. It got her into hospitals where she could help people, it meant she understood what she was healing and if she ever lost her powers, she could still help (Not that she planned on losing them). Needless to say, there was more than their share of miracles at the Hospital she did work experience at.

    She was wearing earphones, of course, she always was of some form or another. Very few people had ever seen her ears or knew the true reason why she was always wearing them. Right now no music was playing as she worked hard to not get distracted from her work. Still her eyes kept drifting over to her phone, waiting for the smallest excuse to get distracted. She wondered when the next time she'd be needed with the Allies, it still seemed a little unreal being on a super hero team, like a child's dream. Bet in that dream they never thought that superheroes would have to do homework. But still here she was, she just hoped she could be of use to the team since her powers weren't exactly offensive.

    Introducing...

    Genius Billionaire Extraordinaire

    Marcus Steel!

    [IMG]

    These days, Marcus rarely slept. AEGIS and the Allies kept his hands busy and whenever he left them to their own devices(or rather his devices), he had to make repairs to Cutting Edge's suit. Despite being paraded as both a member of Sanction and his own bodyguard, the suit did get damaged on occasion...and even after several years the suit had yet to see any kind of upgrade.

    That was soon to be changed. In whatever time he could spare, Marcus had designed a path to produce more advanced armors and finally his plan was nearly complete. "In another few days, Mark II should be ready..." He nodded to himself as he rubbed his chin, leaning back in his chair as his eyes focused on the redesign displayed on a holographic projection.

    "I'm not sure about sticking to the same color scheme though." He pressed a button on his desk to get into contact with Amelia, both his adopted daughter and assistant. "Dear? Could you come into the lab for a minute and give me an opinion on something?" He paused before adding in, "And bring me a pen. ...I seem to have placed the one that was here." Yes, even geniuses like him could lose track of something. Being the smartest person on the planet(though a few would love to argue that fact) sure had its downsides.

    Marcus took a quick look around his lab, taking the opportunity to admire his own progress. His lab was, for the most part, empty. That was because more time was spent on making technology to make more advanced pieces of technology, equipment that could produce highly accurate versions of the holographic models he made. In the back of the room housed several displays that were empty at the moment but displayed possible designs of future suits Cutting Edge would use. Outside of the display and the large array of computers at his desk, the lab was free of clutter that filled the rest of AEGIS. The only people permitted inside the lab were Amelia, himself, and Edge.

    "Mm...I should've asked Amelia to bring in some pizza. All this genius-ing is making me hungry."

    Alice's training room was simple, and over time it had became more of a living space than anything else. There was a maintenance bed in the center, crates of ammo, a work bench on the far wall, and a few other things of varying purposes throughout the room. Simple, neat, and to her liking. Liking. Yes, she liked this...

    Liking... Yes. Another thing she liked was helping the drones on the work bench come to life. They were meant to be surveillance drones, circular and able to fly, however at this point there were still several flaws in the operating system. For starters their language function simply would not tune into humans, making Alice their only line of communication. And most could not even hover properly.

    Speaking of... One just spun out of control and went flying into one of the other walls. And...was another laughing?

    "No. We do not laugh at another's misfortune. Please, assist your fallen comrade and make sure he is alright." At least the laughing drone managed to follow orders, sprouting mechanical limbs so it was able to crawl over to the damage one.

    Androids like her could not produce an actual sigh, however the sound was easily made. And once it had been let out she connected to the phone lines.

    { Communication line on. There is now an out-going call.
    Calling Marcus Steel. Please hold... }

    Amelia's ears twitched and she sniffed the air as she heard her name come through the headpiece she was wearing which connected directly to her Father's office. She had already been on her way to the office anyway, and within seconds, she was already through his door and greeting him. "Yes. Mr Steel." She responded as she came in, acting formal and using his name as her position dictated she should. She knew he'd tell her to just call him 'Dad' or something, but she was a proud Dragon who made sure she took her role seriously. While she might be his adopted daughter, when he had asked her to be his personal assistant (not just as part of forming her identity, but also because he needed one urgently) she had researched the role extensively, and found that keeping formality as a PA would be best. It had been seven years since she had been saved from that horrible place... Marcus Steel had changed her life... and she adored him very much. She loved him like he was her real father. She wanted to be a daughter he could be proud of. She'd worked very hard over the past 7 years learning everything she could. Marcus had taught her well, and it seemed that Dragons were very adaptive and intelligent creatures, capable of learning very quickly (she was already fluent in several different languages because of this). She'd trained herself to gain control of her powers and to be able to embrace her human side rather than giving into her feral, dragonic impulses. Now... it had seemingly paid off. She was able to blend into society just like a normal human. Of course though... she was anything but normal.
    She approached his desk and placed down a box which contained a large pepperoni pizza inside. "You normally get hungry around this time, so I took the liberty of bringing you a Pizza." she informed him. "Also, I've bought you a pen, but I feel I should inform you that the one you misplaced is behind your right ear." ...just as it usually was. Amelia had come to know her father's habits well. Yes... she was a good daughter. A good Dragon. She stood there in her work suit, her tie a little loose around the neck. She preferred to wear a male suit as she found a skirt to be... frankly weird. How could human females wear skirts? It was beyond her. It was just too exposing and restricting where as a pair of well fitted trousers were perfect and comfortable. She looked perfectly formal for her role, and with her long purple hair tied back into a single ponytail, she still looked beautiful too.
    She stared at her father with her bright yellow eyes, full of inquiry. "What would you have my opinion on, Mr Steel?"

    After his embarrassing failure in his danger room, Runner decided that maybe he need a break from training. A snack will make him feel better. "I wonder if anybody else is in here...?" he wondered aloud as he exited walked down the hall to Justice Central's kitchen. Unlike the other Allies, Runner came to Justice Central to relax. He had no other life. Sure, he had his friends that he would go and hang out with, maybe drink a few beers, but besides that? No family, no school, no job. He didn't consider himself a slacker -far from it-, but all he needed in his life were buildings to jump off and food. His parents had left him a considerable amount of money to live off, though he had planned on getting another job in the next year before it ran out. That was why he was so excited about being a hero after he decided to join the Allies: income and a way to spend his days, a way with purpose.

    As he entered the kitchen, which several refrigerators, he remembered when Marcus Steel first approached him. Apparently, AEGIS had been keeping track of several Wonders -another name for heroes- and other people with "unique attributes," searching for possible recruits. According to Steel himself, Runner's background and powers made him an everyman, a sort of down-to-earth moral conscience for the team. Runner remembered the exact words that Steel used:

    "Sanction's powers are great. Too great for regular people to understand. They're essentially gods amongst us. Nothing tethers them to what most believe reality to be. This is why the Allies exist. To show everyone what reality-what humanity really is. You will be the anchor that grounds the Allies. " While he originally decided against it -the life of a superhero was way too unreal for Runner to fathom- the young Ally changed his mind upon saving the lives of a couple. He called Marcus Steel up and before he knew it, he was spandexed-up and codenamed 'Runner.' Thinking back now, he couldn't help but if Steel's words were simply a more epic way of saying it, 'your power sucks.' He opened one fridge, sighing. Thinking about his teammates made him feel...out of place. The others had either been active as Wonders before joining the Allies or had extraordinary powers. Runner...made running look cool. And even still, during the recruitment stage, he was so excited that decided to keep his identity secret from his teammates for the sole reason that the main superheroes seemed to do it. What did he have to hide? No family, no close friends, no job. He doubted he could put his drinking buddies in too much danger. Runner, with no experience whatsoever, was starting to think that he was romanticizing the idea of being a hero. "What did I get myself into, man?" He asked aloud as he pulled a cold soda from the fridge.

    "This is Justice Central's kitchen, a place stored with food for those who live here."

    The call was taking a while to connect so Alice began to wander, scanning the area for someone else to communicate with. The nearest target was Runner, someone she knew little of even after almost a year. Though it was not like she tried bonding with her fellow heroes, finding simply working with them easier. And it seemed common for co-workers to co-exist without ever even talking. Some couldn't even name everyone in the office.

    However, after studying this further, or watching TV as normal people would call it, she learned that some humans dated fellow workers. This event caused several issues, as bosses did not approve, jealously emerge, break-ups, never being able to look at each other the same way again, being caught in strange situations... The list of complications seemed endless. Thus she avoided this along with friendship.

    Still...it seemed to be a necessity to at least know the others. And so she struck up conversation when it came her way. In this case, she heard his question and took it literal. She wasn't quite sure what it meant and went on to assume he was confused as to where he was. How was that possible? That remained unclear. But as she entered the room something had to be said, to make her presence known. One cannot be rude.

    Cannot be rude. Must talk to others. Cannot risk getting too close. But need to get close enough to work well with others.

    This human world and their ways... It was amazing that she ever made it this far.

    Currently making his way through the streets, Kite was doing what he did best now, wander. Eversince he'd gotten a shadow demon inserted inside of him, he'd tended not to use any of the powers he'd gotten unless it was needed. While that did mean whenever he acted he had to keep his face hidden so he either made himself a mask made out of shadow or worked in stealth. Either way, he found some good use to put his powers to. The only downside he could see right now was the fact that his powers didn't always worked the way he wanted them to. Whether it be making something different than he intended or ended up in a different location than he'd planed on. Fortunately he hadn't had to use his power for sometime so maybe he would have to worry about that right now.

    As he popped open the soda, the young hero-to-be raised a hand to pull his mask over his mouth, letting it rest on his nose. He exposed narrow lips, a thin mustache, and a slight rubble on the rest of his white-complexion, giving a better image of his secret identity along with his white hair. He pressed the can to his lips and tilted it upwards while tilting his head backwards. The cool liquid fizzled on his tongue as it refreshed him. However, his small moment of tranquility was interrupted by one of his teammates.

    "-Hyuk!" He spit up a little bit of his drink as he quickly pulled his mask back down and turned to face...One. Or, Alice, as she was also called. 'The Android,' He remembered. Though he had yet to go on a mission with the Allies as they were both a fresh team lacking a legitimate debut and he was the newest member, he had gotten to know his allies (pun not intended) semi-well. Programmed for evil, reprogrammed for independence, Alice was, in his mind, the firepower of the team. "Al-One-erm, hey," he nodded, not sure how he should address her. "What was that?" He asked, in response to her comment. 'Oh, I get it. She doesn't understand what a kitchen is! She's still learning human culture,' he (incorrectly) realized. "Yep. That's sure what this is," he confirmed as he awkwardly stared at his drink. "So, um...do you want a soda?" He asked before realizing that robots may not even drink, "...or something?"

    Marcus eyed the food that his daughter had brought him. Yes...he had truly taught her well. The ways of the pizza were strong with this one. 'Alright, enough thinking with your stomach.' Marcus opened the box and took the pen he had misplaced from behind his ear. If he didn't know better, he would have said that Amelia was the one who put it there. Losing track of his pen however was a terrible habit of his. "I couldn't ask for a better daughter." He leaned back in his chair and looked up towards the ceiling.

    "Show us the current color scheme I'm working on." There was no one else in the room, but Marcus wasn't speaking to a person. It was the computer that ran the whole building. A holographic display appeared in the center of the room just as Marcus had commanded. It was of Cutting Edge's armor though it looked quite a bit different than what it normally did. "The armor Edge uses has been around for nearly a decade now. Same goes for the colors on it. This is what the...Mark Two armor will look like. With all this work going on it's taken me several years to get this far. What do you think of it? It won't be permanent. There'll be another upgrade or two in-"

    "Incoming call from Justice Ally, Alice."

    "Hm...Patch her through." He held up a hand towards Amelia, signaling a "hold that thought" for her.

    Meanwhile, Apostle did nothing of importance.

    Alice's pupils spun slightly as she adjusted her vision to zoom in on the one known as Runner. And as always stats were displayed on her screen, one only she could see unless projected.
    { Target displays confusion. Reason; unknown.
    a. From not knowing what to call me.
    b. Is sick.
    c. Is slow minded.
    d. This 'soda' caused delayed reactions.
    Most likely answer; a. Save note d for future reference. }

    "It is Alice," she replied in her usual monotonous voice, realizing her call had finally connected. To respond to it her thoughts would serve well enough, keeping the conversation between her and Steel unheard from Runner so she may continue that conversation as well.

    { "I have ran into some technical difficulties with the construction of my drones. The reasons are unclear but there seems to be flaws in their personality components as well as their capability to levitate. While unsure about the first issue I believe the second can be fixed with simple adjustments though I lack the necessary parts. This is why I have contacted you today, Mr. Steel. Can you assist?" }

    Returning to the topic of soda her pupils changed once more, zooming out this time. "I do not drink this soda you speak of. In fact, I do not drink anything."

    Abi grinned as she looked down at the pages of handwritten work, she'd just spent the last however long doing. Done. Her eyes skimmed the work, making sure it was all in order, it wasn't perfect but she was satisfied. It had taken her long enough. She happily shut her textbook, now she was free to do the fun stuff but first she carefully filed away her work, she didn't want to lose risking all that work she'd just done.

    However the moment that was away, it was like she'd been injected with super strong caffeine with the way she bounced around her house at such speed. She'd changed into her pink, Spirit outfit and changed her earphones for her specially designed head piece before picking up what she'd found to be the best 18th birthday present ever in the history of the universe. (She quite liked it)

    An actual proper fully functioning hover board. How cool was that? Marcus Steel had built it just for her and it was one of a kind as far as she knew, though he may have created more for his own purposes. Either way, it was rather epic, nobody could deny that. She couldn't drive so it was perfect to use to get around, beats taking the bus any day. It had taken a fair amount of practice and falling off to master it but now she was pretty good at it. She pulled down her pink tinted visor that Max had added to her head piece. Then she was out of her house and down the road like a bullet.

    She weaved through the streets with such easy, going at speeds fast enough to overtake cars. She went up onto the sides of buildings, over lakes, and over anything she could find to make obstacles and extra challenges for herself. The city was her playground. "WOOOO!!! Hell yeah!!" She yelled as she blasted round the corner, full of pure adrenaline.
    [IMG]
    She took the long route to just enjoy the thrill more, but still she arrived at the Allies base all too soon. Still bursting with energy but in need of a drink, she jumped off her hover board, and sprinted inside with it in hand. She decided the kitchen would be a good place to head before she went to find anyone to get a drink, so that's where she ran off too.

    She literally burst into the kitchen, expecting it empty, only to find two of her teammates already there. "Um hey! Ughh sorry about the entrance, hope I'm not interrupting anything. But yay, people, that means I don't have to go looking for you." She spoke quickly, still full of adrenaline, "Do you mind passing a can, Runner? It would be greatly appreciated. I do need one right now." She calmed as she spoke, realising she might have just made a little bit of a fool out of herself. She had been making an effort to get to know them though she wasn't that close to either of them yet, hopefully that would change. "So how are you two? I hope your training is going well, Runner and had any luck with those Drones, Alice?" She asked, remembering previous conversations.

    "Making those repairs shouldn't be difficult. Just head to the down to the R&D room and we'll get you fixed up in no time." At least it wasn't something more serious. Marcus folded his arms and shook his head. Doing any kind of work on Alice was usually time consuming and even proved to be a (small) challenge at the worst. Even her own AI was much more advanced than that used in Edge's armor. Sloan truly was his academic rival...and Marcus hated him for that. Well, not really since he could still outsmart the man at every corner.

    Now that it was settled, he turned back to his daughter. "So what do you think?"

    "Hey!" Apostle hunched over a few feet behind Spirit as he wiped the sweat off his forehead. He held up his other hand towards the others, wanting them to wait for him to catch his breath and speak. "Just...give...me...a second...Whoo..." He spoke between breaths before finally standing upright. Apostle cleared his throat as he regained his composure, looking at the others in the group.
    "That hoverboard thing sure can move. I saw you go by and tried catching up to you." Apostle directed towards Spirit. If he had just been a human, he would have been left in the dust. With his magic however, he did manage to keep up though just barely. At that moment he wished he had better endurance, but at his age magic did put a strain on his body. "Mind tossing me something to drink, Runner?"
    OOC: Just "borrowing" that thingy you used, Bueno. <<

    "Guess the party's here, then," Runner said as he tossed both Apostle and Spirit a drink. "And the training is...well, it's going," He answered awkwardly while rubbing the back of his head. 'Unless you count the epic failure earlier today...but you don't have to know that.' He added to himself as he looked at everyone. "Just need Shadow and Dragone-Wait," when he said that, Runner counted in his head: One, Shadow, Spirit, Apostle, and Dragonness...'Five Allies? Five Sanctioneers. It's like we're made to match with th-oh wait, I didn't count myself.' He shook his head. "Never mind. Speaking of which, any ideaswhere those two are? Don't teams have....meetings or something?"

    Meanwhile, in Marcus Steel's personal laboratory!
    There was silence as the figure moved through the lab. His footsteps were heavy, but yet...they made no sound. He didn't bother to hide from the camera, infrared lasers, or any other security feature. He was there -in plain sight- letting the cameras catch him and tripping every security feature there...but none of them caught him. The cameras saw nothing, the motion and sound detectors detected neither motion nor sound, the infrared lasers acted as if no one stepped through them...and it was true. No one was in the laboratory. Steel was gone and Amelia was elsewhere and there were very few people that were aware of the lab's existence, let alone allowed in it. But this figure was in there...and yet he wasn't. He was a ghost, but he wasn't. Completely undetectable, interacting with nothing. It was as if...he wasn't there, but -as he walked and smiled through the secret laboratory- he took satisfaction in the knowledge that he was there. It didn't matter. Even if Steel himself was there, with all of his state-of-the-art technology, he would be invisible even to the genius himself. As he moved through the laboratory that was secret to so many people, he reveled in the familiarity of it. Has he been there before? Irrelevant. The figure stopped in front of a glass case, across from a massive computer screen, and stared. Inside of the glass case was a plastic torso, headless and legless, held only by a single rod on a stand. Around the torso was what appeared to be a kevlar piece of armor. Small lights were embedded throughout the armor, no longer flickering. As he stood, watching it with a shaking fist, the man who was not there was unaware of the small light blinking on the console behind him.

    "Inconceivable!" Amnael Sloan yelled at computer screen in front of him. He felt his body shake as his skin tightened. "How...dare they?!" He demanded of the heavens as his voice deepened. Beneath his thin glasses, his black eyes narrowed as they read the press release. "Of all the... the... the unmitigated gall!" He could not believe it. He had read the press release many times. From Hardware, the technological company where he had worked many years ago, before he had changed the subject of his research to more...genetic fields, had finished a device which they called 'The Nerve Orb." It was made to send signals to the nerve system of a human body that overrode the natural signals that the brain sent it. It was designed to command the body to heal itself even when the brain could not do it and things of that sort. A medical marvel, this technology would improve and send the medical field decades into the future. And the man who had came up with the premise, the basic formula, and the original design for the Nerve Orb...was Amnael Sloan. "They dare take my research and use it without my consent? They dare take my unfinished studies, throw a few of their own insignificant ideas into it, and produce it under their name? The inhumane audacity!" He growled as his skin started to change color. When he had started designing the Nerve Orb, production was stopped due to the lack of technology that would support such functions. Of course it was! Sloan was a genius beyond his time! He had brought the future to the present, but they were disappointed that he could not actually produce technology that did not exist and now...now that Steel Enterprises had invented the missing pieces, From Hardware was able to finish the Nerve Orb...UNDER THEIR NAME?! "Calm down, Amnael," he told himself as he closed his eyes and breathed. "Do not anger yourself...you cannot risk unleashing the Savage right now..." it was difficult, but he managed to repress his anger and turn his body to normal before his...uglier side revealed itself. "No, no, come on now. This...this is good. We can use the Nerve Orb," he muttered as he began to run scenarios through his mind. "We can use it for our own ends, refer to it by a less ridiculous name...and we can make them suffer for their crimes. But first," he smiled, reclining back into his seat, "I need to check my account balance."

    As Kite continued to walk around town, he thought about what the others were doing. They were either training or doing something else. Either way, he turned into the next alley he walked past and simply walked into a shadow on the wall. Although he would rarely admit it, there were benefits of having a demon living inside of you. One being that he could travel to place to place just by using shadows. It was certainly a quick an easy way to travel. He ended up coming out of another shadow on the wall where everyone was at. "Hey." He simply said to everyone.

    Another call came before Amelia could answer Marcus. This call was patched through immediately without him having to give the command. Knowing it must be important, he answered. After a few short exchanges in a low mumble, he hung up. "I'm sorry but something came up. You'll have to tell me your thoughts later. Thanks again for the food though." He said as he patted Amelia on the head. Usually these kinds of emergencies required a special suit. Important people hated when he was underdressed. He left the room, trusting his daughter to "lock up" while he was away.

    "Speak of the Dev-erm, I mean, hey!" Runner called out to Shadow, not sure if using a phrase mentioning the Devil was appropriate with someone who held a Demon inside of his body. The hero-to-be felt a tingle run down his spine. The idea of his teammate housing a Demon was a bit...uncomfortable. "That makes everyone, 'cept for Dragonness...unless Steel and AEGIS somehow recruit someone else in the next five minutes," he joked. There was an awkward silence. '...I wonder if the Sanction are more comfortable with each other or if they're just as awkward as I am,' he pondered. "So, uh...how is everyone? Stop any bank robberies lately?"

    With her pupils spinning once more Alice examined all the people coming into the kitchen. First there was Spirit, seeming out of breath and fatigue though moments later the female seemed to have her body heat and breathing rate return to normal. How impressive, these healing capabilities.

    First Runner had been requested for a drink and then she was addressed. At the same time Steel answered her.

    { Hanging up now.

    Call ended. }

    "They are doing well, but some flaws still need to be worked out."

    Apostle also seemed to be there, coming in with Spirit. However as he did not address her Alice only examined him briefly before moving her gaze to the next, who turned out to be Shadow. He gave a short greeting and so she returned the same, saying 'Good day.'

    Then Runner spoke again.

    { Is this 'small talk'?
    How does on engage in 'small talk'? }

    After a moment for her processors to access the situation Alice replied. "I have not reported on scene of any bank robberies this past month. However there's been plenty muggings and smaller, similar type crimes in the city that were successfully halted with minimal causalities. As a matter of fact, this month has been a record low of causalities caused from cross-fire or other causes on my end," these, at first, caused by her lack of understanding that if you go to stop a bad guy it means arresting them not killing them. After that it was her not getting that saving people meant everyone on scene and not just the one to cause the alarm in the first place. After that it was simply a matter of poor luck.

    "You can say devil, it doesn't bother me." Kite replied. When referencing to him, phrases like that were a little uncomfortable, but he didn't mind them in the slightest. He knew he was hosting a demon inside of him and he wouldn't let it affect him anymore than he did. Runner's question cause him to think for a moment. While there were no back robberies he stopped, there were a bunch of minor stuff. Mugging, pickpocketing, things like that. All of which ended with the criminal being terrified of darkness for a while after the arrest. "Some minor things, that's it."
