When it comes to being a successful individual different people have done it with different amounts of each, but which do you think creates the optimum host of genius? I, along with einstein, believe it to be creativity!
I would have to disagree. Intelligence is knowledge and how you display your knowledge through academics. It is also logic, and how you deal with problems, and analyze situations. Being intelligent, doesn't usually mean you are creative, but you have knowledge. For example, there can be someone who is a straight A student in science, yet they cannot develop 3 characters using originality. Creativity is imagination, the ideas you can come up with in order to show how effectively you can think outside of the box when it comes to bringing forth new ideas. It requires intelligence(Knowledge) to an extent, but in cases, creativity can simply be ideas of randomness/insanity. The two can be related, but they aren't exactly the same thing...generally speaking anyways.
Well, you can't really have one without the other. I personally (so I'm told) have both, so I don't really know. I thinki of intelligence as being able to see things rationally and creativity as being able to imagine things in a creative way. However, to be successful, you need to be able to imagine things but with a rational slant, which is why both are needed. You need to be able to imagine how something like a product or an idea will work in the real world, so I can't really answer this question.
That's what one would think. My professor says otherwise. Intelligence doesn't include just logic and things like mathematical ability and such. Creativity is an intelligence. It takes brains to be artistic. Basically, anything you do using your mind is showing intelligence. Saying otherwise would be an insult to artistic talent and writing ability. Creativity is part of intelligence and it obviously isn't the whole thing. If someone composes music but doesn't know what music theory is, they are displaying knowledge of music theory(unless they completely suck XD). Creative talent is sometimes just something you're born with(although you can develop in that area as well). Intelligence is a broad range of things. It really is.
What's a logical life wihout creativity? I would say creativity is superior, from the pure reason that intelligence is limited. Most all scientific discoveries, technologies, inventions, etc, all came from a spark in the human mind that said look at things differently or move in a different direction. Otherwise it would just be a load of the same information given to the next generation over and over, without furthering as a species. And I would pick art over technology any day.
I'd go with creativity. It's great if you can do super complex problems or advanced science, but without creativity some experiments would not be thought of, and science may not advance as quickly. Not necessarily, a four year old might not be that intelligent in the ways of spacial dimension, or even any art theory, but it would still get the point across that a house is a square with a triangle on top, and the idea of a house would still be evident.
You don't need to know spacial dimensions or art theory to be deemed "intelligent" either. Humans are naturally intelligent beings from birth. The fact that we're so intelligent also allows us to be creative. Like other users have said, creativity is apart of intelligence. Intelligence is also what separates us from animals. Many living things know how to be creative. Certain animals know how to sing songs, spiders make fancy webs depending on the prey they plan to catch, etc. But can a spider paint? Can a spider write a book? Or a song? Can a spider do anything of artistic merit? Can a spider produce anything original in terms of ideas? And I don't mean something that humans look at and say "oh thats art," or "what a good idea" I mean something that the spider intentionally does. No. Why? Because its not smart enough. I'd go as far as to say that 80-90% of an animal's actions are pure instinct. Animals don't need to know how paint, write a book, etc., they only need to eat, sleep and ****. And to be honest, humans dont either, but the fact that we do have that quality makes us infinitely smarter. We have found ways to live on being creative. So yeah, when people are being creative, they're also being intelligent. We need intelligence to be creative. Not the other way around.
No. That is what you call achievement. Or semantic memory, which is your general knowledge of facts learned through school and such. Achievement is knowledge and skills gained from experience. Intelligence is the ability to learn from experiences, to think rationally, and deal effectively with others. Intelligence in certain areas (such as creativity) is possible. So I would definitely say intelligence, especially since it can break down into so many different areas. Yes. This. ^
They're the same thing, really. I remember my kindergarten class, all the creative kids ended up being really smart in the later grades, and the majority of the ones who weren't ended up getting held back in the first grade.
I think that creativity and intelligence work hand in hand. If there was no creativity there would be nothing like videogames, computers, tvs, board games, books, movies, nothing. For example, if the doctors knew that there was something in the water that was making people sick then the doctors would have to get creative and think of different ideas to see what was wrong with the water. Vice versa; the people who had ideas for videogames need the smarts to put as a virtual world and make it all work out.
