Broken Glass

Karmia got up off the swing and headed toward the crowded sidewalk. She pushed her way through the crowd and headed towards the building Abbie was on. She looked up and noticed Abbie. She walked inside the building and took an elevator to the roof. She stood next to Abbie and leaned against the building's roof but said nothing.

 

Abbie looked up, hearing footsteps the moment she jumped down. She let out a sigh and rubbed the back of her head, noticing it was Karmia. "Hey!" she called leaning against the wall, waiting for a response.

Jessie quietly groaned, putting her forehead against her arm, looking down at her lap. I'm thinking too much on this. Then again... She trailed off in thought and raised her head. Jessie placed her hands against the floor, pushing herself off of the pavement. She looked around then started walking. She lowered her head and wrapped her arms around her stomach, thinking.

"Hey!" Karmia replied. She got off the wall and layed on the ground. She put her hands behind her head and crossed her feet. She looked through her bag and put her sunglasses on. She sighed happily. "Wanna join?" She asked. "Room for one more!" She started to chuckle here and there.

 

Abbie looked at Karmia then looked towards the end of the alleyway. She took a deep breath, leaving the alleyway and putting her hands behind her head. Why can't something exciting happen for once?

 

Mortalitas walked down the empty streets with a quiet sigh. He was searching, had searched, but still... "Oh well," he thought to himself quietly. It's not like their was much else to do...

He stayed silent for a while, his face masking the emotion of his thoughts.

 

Karmia saw that Abbie left. She got up and walked onto the streets. She walked towards her house but slowly. She turned around. I could of swore I heard something... She turned back around and headed towards her house again until she noticed the bench she sat on twice today and sat on it for the third time, hoping something exciting would happen.

 

Mortalitas walked up to Karmia. "Hello dear, how are you on this fine day?" he said as he laid his cane leaning on the bench and took a seat on the beanch near Karmia.

 

"My name is Karmia!" She said. "Who are you?" She moved father away from Mortalitas but still on the bench. "And I am fine on this wonderful day." Karmia said. She took her book out and read.

 

"My name is Mortalitas. Ah. Say, what is a person like you doing here at a time like this on such a fine day when there is other things to do... Ah. But alas, we all have our reasons for doing things even if we do not know them. Even a feble man such as myself still sometimes finds things to do." Mortalitas said these words as he offerd Karmia a reassuring smile.

 

"Well you sure are the clever kind!" Karmia said, chuckling here and there. She put her book down and put it in her bag. She felt her pocket. She pulled out her mini Sprite. "I knew having big pockets would come in handy!" Karmia said.

 

"Ah. You are both interresting and clever. But alas, do not forget it is not the big pockets that help, it is what is inside of them. Would you mind, dear, if I stayed with you? I believe we may be of some use to one another," Mortalitas said.

 

"I don't see why not." Karmia said. "Follow me." She headeed towards her house and stepped inside. "Your room is in there just so you know." Karmia said. She showed him around the house. "And this is the balcony." She said finally.

 

"Thank you very much for your sincere kindness. I will try to someday repay it," Mortalitas replied.

 

"It's no problem!" Karmia said. "Let's sit down." Karmia sat on the lawn chair. "You can sit here if you want." She pointed to the chair next to her.

 

"Thanks for the chair," Mortalitas said as he sat at the chair where Karmia had pointed and leaned his cane lightely on the chair.

 

"You have a problem walking?" Karmia said, picking up the cane. "Want some Spriter?" She picked up a glass and the big bottle of Sprite.

 

"Sometimes we all need something to lean on when there is nothing else to lean on. May I have some Spriter?" Mortalitas asked.

 

"OK!" Karmia said. She poured the Sprite that she had already had in her hand. "Here you go!" She stuck her hand out with the glass in it.

 

"Thank you," he said as he took the glass from her. For a while he gently sipped the Sprite.
