    Not riled, but provoked, irritable.

    A statement made in order to discount predictions. In the same way, we will never know that the other exists beyond this text. That is also a statement. But why would I make it?

    Predictions can be made just as explanations for perceived phenomena can be, and since neither can be known to be true, trying to discount a prediction because it cannot be known is a self-defense mechanism. There are two ways for you to discredit a prediction of mine, something that you will most likely always try to do if I am predicting you. The first is to deny that you would do the thing I predict. The second is to say that we will not know unless it happens.

    The second claim is invalid when the one who states it is the one being predicted because the statement treats the subject of prediction as incapable of choice based on preferences and impulses. The subject knows themselves better than anyone, so at the very least they could predict themselves if they bothered.

    In conclusion, you wanted to discredit my statement, and it was a stock reply with that purpose.
