You wake up in a barely-lit subway station.

The station corridor stretches on forever, and the north and south seem like endless voids. But here you are, stuck in the central platform. The withered marble tiles are broken up and splayed all over the place. The benches -- one of which you've splayed yourself upon in a nap -- are rusted, red-green from apathetic decay. The dim lights above flicker their last breaths. In fact, it looks like there's only one old hooded lamp right above you that's still lit, protecting you from the shadows.

Oh? What's this in your hand?

You look closely, realizing that it's a pair of train tickets.

But you don't have a clue what that means.

You get up, and you note that most of the station is completely dark. You turn your head to your left, and then your right. Off in the distance, you see two dim glows on opposite sides of your weary, creaking bench.
They're from lamps, like the one above your head, off in the distance. One to your north, and one to your south.

    Where do you go?

    Bench ►► Southern Light

You move towards the Southern Light.

But it takes some time, and it takes some confidence. As you leave the safe warmth of your bench's light, you feel your confidence dripping away. But you're not quite sure how much of it drips away, just yet.

You step through the darkness of the station, and as you move farther and farther away from your island of light, its callous embrace tugs at your heart. Your loud footsteps, which echo through the emptiness, grow more frequent as you find yourself involuntarily moving faster. Eventually, you are stuck in a delirium as you see nothing around you.

Nothing but that light to your south.

With whatever confidence you have left, you try and move closer and closer to the light.
It seems like an eternity to you, but eventually you reach the Southern Light.

    ►► Southern Light

You quickly take in your new surroundings in this island of light.

To your northeast, there's another bench where you can catch some rest and, perhaps, maybe, fix up your confidence a bit. But-- eck, it looks even rustier, older, and dirtier than the first bench. What's with all of these ruined benches?

Directly north of you is ... a solid door? It's thick and heavy, and has all kinds of strange bolts and cranks. As you move closer to it, you find that your breath turns into puffs of cold, silvery clouds. But what is the most unmistakable part of this door is the large "S T R E E T E X I T" engraved on its cool, tough surface.

To your east, you have what looks like a garbage can that ... euuugh, it seems to be made of the same rusty stuff as the benches, and is giving off a rather pungent smell, like that of fermented fish.

You turn, and to your northwest is a worn sign. You can't really see its details from here, but you hope it would be more legible as you grow closer.

    ►► Southern Light

You move closer towards the EXIT Door. As you walk towards the metal, you feel a chill throughout your entire body.
The door's handle is some sort of large, circular wheel. At this point, you could virtually taste the surprisingly clean, shiny steel. But you almost forget to realize that your entire body is just ever so slightly shivering.

You move your hand towards the door's handle, your fingertips trembling from the constant decrease in temperature.
You lightly touch the wheel, but-- ouch!-- immediately dart your hand back in pain. The wheel's cold as all hell. Looking at your fingers in the light, you see that there is some very mild frostbite. Your confidence takes another hit.

A small white card falls to the floor from behind the wheel.
    Oh? What's this?

You bend down, pick it up, and read it, holding it up to the light.
It looks old and worn, yet the thick white paper is still crisp. The ink seems to be drying off. How old was this note?

    You turn it around.

    ... Okay.
    Who was this clown?
Did they have a clue for why you were stuck in this decrepit mess of a place?
And the words with the ... "input". The input was defaced? Graffiti was common in subway stations, right? Was there something else here that could get her out of the station? It did look pretty empty. And abandoned. What if you were trapped here forever, without someone to help? This note was pretty old; there's no telling how long it could have been since someone put it behind the door.

Why would someone put a note there anyway?

    You pocket the card.

You decide to take a quick rest on that old, rusty bench.
As you draw closer, you spot an old rag just lounging there on the rusty metal. Picking it up, it seems to be covered in petrol stains.
    Ugh.

You lie down on the bench, and take a small nap.

    ...

    Confidence restored!

You approach the rusty garbage can. A hollowed-out cylinder, patchy and dusty. From the inside, you smell the terrible reek of what seems to be fermented fish ...

    Ugh.
You feel like barfing in your mouth, a bit.
Holding your sleeve to your nose, and squinting your eyes, you try and move past the stench to look inside the garbage can.

Peering inside, you see what looks like ... uuuugh, a greenish-olive sludge. Decomposed food and all kinds of goods, pulsing and undulating like a bubbly mass of writhing vomit. Well, there are a few things there you see, you think. You squint, and spot what looks like another ticket. Off to its direct west is the corner of some kind of large book, and directly northeast of it is a ...
    A--
Some kind of weird, rotting can. The insides are black mush.

    ...

You aren't goddamn touching this stuff with your bare hands!
If only you had some kind of cloth or rag ...
