    Actually, Blue (the girl) was originally supposed to appear as the girl character (hence why her outfit is so simple).
    However, at the time the cartridges didn't have the capacity for more than one player character, so they said 'screw it' and just used Red, figuring no one would care since it was aimed at a boy demographic anyway.
    They didn't end up having the tech for a girl character until Crystal.
