Will of Fire

Panzela winced when she heard the rib crack and stopped the air where it was, still crushing her but not moving. "Well, what should we do with you now?" she asked, trying to sound causual even with her voice shaking alittle. Hells! that hit hurt, more than it should have. Shoot, don't think about it. Think about what to do now.

 

"I suppose that's up to you..." Akari said as she tried to ignore the seering pain in her side. Crap... I couldn't even avoid it... she thought.

 

Panzela looked down at her, "Yes, I know it is." she snapped. "And I suppose you not worth killing." yes you are, killing you would be so easy. But since I won't... "So I think I'll just put you out of the picture while we sort this out." she twiched her finger and Akiro was forced up. Then she took the flat of her blade and hit her on the head, knocking her out.

Akari closed her tight as she was forced up and the seering pain in her side got even worse. But then she felt a flat, metal surface hit against her head and she fell unconcious.

Becky tried to move but she found that she couldn't. Her whole body seemed heavy and a cold sweat fell down her forehead. She stared at Akito as she breathed in short rasps.

Akito walked up to Becky, stopping right in front of her and staring down at her. I shouldn't have let the little runt get anywhere near her... he thought and kneeled down next to Becky, looking her in the eyes. Although it doesn't seem like she'll last long... he smirked. "So... how does it feel? How does it feel to be so close to death...?" he asked. "This is exactly what I was put through... the same thing... You broke our promise, Becky... We said we would always be there for eachother... no matter what..." He placed a hand on her head. "But you weren't there for me..."

Becky closed her eyes. She couldn't find the words to speak. He's right... I didn't come... i wasn't there for him... But I know him... The real Akito would never feel this way... she thought as she could feel him gripping her hair, getting angrier with each word. I want the old Akito back...

 

"Stay away from her!" Dai yelled at Akito, still trying to figure out how to get out of the net.

 

Akito looked back at Dai. "Shut up! I'll do what I want!" he said, staring back down at Becky. He lossened his grip on her hair a bit. She seemed so... helpless... it made him feel bad inside... Slowly, he released her hair, anyways and took a step back from her. What am I doing...? I... love her... I shouldn't have hurt her this way... he could feel the guilt rising inside of her.

 

Dammit! This stupid thing won't break! Where's a pair of scissors when I need 'em?! Dai thought. There was a flash of red light and Dai fell to the floor, the net completely denigrated. "Ow... What was that?" She muttered.

 

Akito quickly turned his head when he heard something hit the ground he saw that it was Dai. "What the h*ll did you just do?!" he asked, a bit shocked. He had made energy run through the net, so it should have been almost unbreakable.

Becky looked up at Dai as she fell. What just happened...? she wondered.

 

Dai stood and rubbed her butt. "I didn't do anything." She folded her arms. "Are you gonna let Becky-chan go, or do I fight you?"

 

Akito just looked at her and stayed silent for a moment. Then, he simpily smirked and took a step back, making a small whistilng sound. A net suddenly came up from under him and he had caught himself. "Take Becky and get out of here..." he said.

Becky blinked in surprise. He just... caught himself...? she closed her eyes as she felt a bit dizzy from the loss of blood. I don't think I've ever been this injured...

 

Dai looked confused at Akito. "You're weird." She went to Becky and knelt by her. "I'm gonna take you somewhere safe. An Ayume has never been there, so no one should be able to find you. Don't worry, as soon as you're better you can do whatever you want."

Rei groaned. My head... What did I do?

 

Akito closed his eyes. Wait until Akari finds me... then I'm done for... he thought.

"Alright..." Becky said, looking up wearily at Dai. But then she looked over at Akito. Is he really going to just let himself get caught like that...? she was afraid that Akari might hurt him severely. Akito... I'll come back for you... this time my promise is true... she thought.

 

Dai thought for a moment. How am I gonna get her there? I can't just walk there, people will get suspicious. If only I could transport us there. There was another flash of red light and Dai and Becky disappeared, landing outside a small, quaint looking house. "What is going on?" Dai muttered, annoyed.

Rei sat up. "Partner, you okay?"

"Yeah... Where's Neesan?" Kairuto was only thinking of Becky, he could worry about himself later.

"I don't know." Rei admitted.

 

Becky blinked. "What... just happened...?" she asked, a bit startled.

Akito just lay in the net with his eyes closed.

 

"I have no idea..." Dai mumbled. "Whatever it was it was helpful." She turned to a rustle in the bushes and shrugged when she saw nothing. "Come on, let's gon in." She helped Becky up. "This is my grandma's house. She's never approved of the fight between our families so she won't care that you're an Ayume."

 

Panzela looked around, "Alright, now what?" she muttered, annoyed that the pain was getting hard to ignore.

 

Rei rubbed his head and stood. She must've left. Well, at least I don't have to worry about her.

 

Panzela spotted Rei and, picking up her bag gingerly, walked over to him. "Hi Rei..." she said, flicking back her blades.

 

Rei's wings folded in. "Don't you work for the Hiwatari's?" He sighed. "I don't want to fight again so just... I don't know, run along."

 

Panzela looked at him blankly for a moment before realizing what he was talking about. "Oh, that, I was fired." she looked him in the eye, "And don't talk down to me." she added sharply.
