Will of Fire

Kairuto went downstairs and paused at the door. "I'm going now. I'll be back as soon as I can." He called out.

Megumi picked up Dai and slung her over her shoulder, and placed the scroll safely in her pocket. She spread her wings and started flying towards the museum.

 

Becky kept her hand on the book for as long as she could, trying to ignore the seering pain as best as she could. But soon, it became too much for her and she let out a yell as she took her hand off of the book and fell to the floor. She panted and sat back up, looking at the book. what did I do wrong this time...?! she thought but then heard Kairuto yell out. "O-Okay!!" she shouted back to him.

 

"You alriight?" Kairuto had a bad feeling.

Megumi flew by the Ayume's house, dropping a feather with a note attached.

 

Becky lay down against the floor. Her arm ached... ALOT. "I-I'm fine..." Becky said.

 

Kairuto didn't really believe her, but he needed to get out while it was dark. ".... Okay. I'm going then." He closed and locked the door behind himself and then noticed the feather with the note. "Huh?" He picked it up, untied the note. "No way..." He crumpled the note and ran towards the museum.

"You can't fight her, Kairuto!" Rei said.

"I'm not going to. I'll get us to the museum and you can take it from there." Kairuto responded.

 

Becky sighed and closed her eyes when she heard Kairuto leave.

 

Megumi landed without a sound on the roof of the museum. "So you came to join the party after all."

Kairuto stopped and glared up at her. "Why do you want us here?!"

"Careful! She's got Dai!" Rei warned.

Megumi held Dai by her wrist over the edge of the museum. "I just wanted to show you what I can do with this new power. Dai-sama's so worn out. I guess I took more of her energy than I should have." She said with mock care in her voice.

Kairuto grit her teeth. "What do we do?!"

"We can't do anything as long as she has Dai." Rei tried to think of some way to get Dai away from Megumi.

Megumi lifted one finger from her grip on Dai. "You might want to think faster."

 

Becky slowly stood up, looking down at her arm. She could see burn marks. Maybe I should open my eyes when I do this... then I'll be able to tell what I'm doing wrong... she thought and walked back over to the book.

 

"If we go near her, she'll probably drop Dai-chan... but what else can we do?!" Kairuto kept his eyes on Megumi.

"I'm thinking!" Rei knew the situation required speed and accuracy. And since he was still weak, he might not be able to manage either.

 

Becky placed her hand on the book once more. Just one more shot... she thought and tried again, keeping her eyes open. She made sure to pronounce the spell loud and clear and read it correctly. But then she started to glow a bright blue, just like she did when she transformed. In fact, she could feel herself growing more powerful. I'm changing...? she thought and soon, she had transformed into her second form, but she did not have her staff. The book then stopped glowing and she removed her hand. Instantly, it disappeared. What's going on?! she thought.

 

Megumi lifted another finger. "You're boring me."

"We've got one shot." Rei said.

"Better than none." Kairuto jumped up and let Rei take over.

Megumi dropped Dai.

Rei used the air from Kairuto's jump to get an extra boost to his wings. He flew straight towards Dai.

Megumi snapped her fingers and Dai disappeared in a swirl of white feathers. "Too late."

"What did you do with her?!" Rei expanded his wings and gained even level with Megumi.

"I don't feel like telling you." Megumi smirked. "But if you beat me in a sparring match, I might tell you."

 

Becky walked outside to the open field. Something doesn't seem right... she thought and then realized that she had butterfly wings. That's new... she thought and looked at them as best she could. But... without my staff I can't fight or change back to my original form... she thought and rubbed her head, thinking. But then she noticed something else. I have... antennas?! she thought and her eyes widened. Am I turning into a butterfly?!

 

"No deal." Rei locked eyes with Megumi. "You tell me where Dai is or I kill you."

"Hm, that's no better than mine." Megumi smirked. "But it won't make me tell you."

Rei flew forward, aiming a fist at Megumi's face.

Megumi caught Rei's fist. She moved her hand to his wrist and bent it backwards effortlessly. "You don't think things through, do you?"

 

Becky felt something was wrong. Maybe I should go see what's up... she thought and started to run because she did not know how to fly yet. Maybe it's Kairuto... I should check on him... she thought. But I don't know where he is...

 

Rei kneed Megumi in the stomach and pulled away. "I don't have to if I'm fighting someone as stupid as you!"

Megumi threw two feathers at Rei. "You should know better than to insult a lady."

Rei folded his wings around himself to block the feathers. "Lady? I don't see a lady."

Kairuto laughed. "You're gonna get her angrier."

"That's the point, partner." Rei said. He looked around. "Still don't see one. Oh! Were you talking about yourself?"

Megumi grit her teeth. "You have no manners." She shot a blast of light at Rei.

Becky's antennas glowed a bit and she run ran with her instincts. For some reason, it's like she could tell where Kairuto was... even though she didn't know. So I'm guessing that the book worked... she thought and smiled.

 

OOC: go rei! go rei!

BIC: Rei flew to the side as quick as he could. But he wasn't quick enough; the light blast struck his right wing and he tumbled to the ground.

"That's why my wings will always be better." Megumi scoffed. She shot another blast of light at Rei's stomach.

Rei yelled in pain. He was pinned to the ground. "You okay, partner...?"

"You're worrying about me?!" Kairuto felt a measure of pain from the blast, but it was nothing compared to what Rei was feeling. "I'm fine." He lied.

Megumi cut off the blast of light. "My, my. That more than I intended. Oh well, it worked all the same."

Rei was smoking slightly. He slowly got to his feet, his right wing hung useless at his side.

 

Becky suddenly came up behind Megumi and punched her as hard as she could.

 

Megumi was barely affected by the punch. She spun around and held Becky by her neck. "You came to the wrong place."

"Put her down!!" Rei yelled.

Megumi looked down at him. "You're very demanding." She threw Becky to the side.

 

Becky grunted when Megumi grabbed her by the neck and threw her to the side. "Leave him alone!" she said and stood back up.
