Will of Fire

"I'm fine!" Kairuto called back, trying to be convincing. "Rei," He stopped pacing and went over to his window. "I'm more nervous than upset."

"I can understand that." Rei sympathized. "You should go out for a while. Try to relax. Clear you head."

 

Becky didn't buy it. She could tell when he was upset. Quietly, she got up off of the bed and went to his door, knocking gently.

Anthony smiled. "Thanks..." He signed.

 

Kairuto took a deep breath and then let it out quietly. He went to his door and opened it. "You feeling better?"

 

"A little..." Becky lied and rubbed the back of her head. "Are you sure you're okay...?" She asked again.

 

"your welcome." Panzela replied, smiling at him. "How is your eye feeling now?"

 

Kairuto smiled. "Yeah. I'm going to go out in a little bit. You should rest some more."

 

"Better..." Anthony signed and smiled. It wasn't hurting as much, but it was still swollen, and would be bruised for a couple weeks or so, but it'd get better.

"Yeah, you're probably right..." She agreed and hesitated. "Kairuto...? You'd tell me if something was wrong... right?" She asked him, still worried. She could tell something was up.

 

Kairuto sighed. "I'd tell you if it was something worth your worrying about. It's not. So don't worry."

 

"that's good. Try and ice it every day, okay? Just to help speed up the healing." Panzela said.

 

"Alright, then..." Becky said, warily, still not sure, but she decided to leave it at that.

Anthony nodded in response.

Akito suddenly appeared by the open window. "Hey," He said to them and grinned. "What's up?"

 

Panzela kept her arms around Anthony and looked up at Akito. "Problems with bullies." she explained.

 

Akito frowned. "Uh-oh..." He said and jumped through the window, walking over to them. He put his hand under Anthony's chin and turned his head up towards him so he could see. He winced. "That's not good..." he said softly and let go of Anthony. He smiled softly. "Is there somebody that I need to teach a lesson?" he asked and grinned, hitting the palm of his hand with his fist.

Anthony giggled and shook his head.

 

Panzela smiled, "Yeah, he doesn't like the idea of me beating up the little punks either... but he's going to let me teach him self defence, at least. Can you help us on that?"

 

Akito nodded. "Of course..." he said and smiled.

Anthony grinned. "Thanks," He signed to both of them, happy.

 

Kairuto smiled and ruffled Becky's hair. "Now, really, go get some rest before you pass out." He moved his hand to her forehead. "You're burning up."

 

"cool." Panzela grinned, "so you're learning how to speak and how to defend yourself. Busy busy."

 

Anthony giggled. "Hey, they're both important..." He signed and grinned.

"All right..." Becky said, already well aware of her high fever. She smiled at Kairuto before heading back to her room.

 

"Exactly, and both will surprise those kids, huh?" Panzela grinned.

 

Anthony nodded and grinned.

 

Kairuto leaned against his door frame, sighing. "She's such a worrier."

"I know. You should make sure that she stays out of the way, partner." Rei said. "I know what it's like to lose someone precious."

Kairuto nodded, heading down the stairs. "I will. I swear I will make sure she's safe."
