358/2 Days Why do people hate Xion so much?

Hey, I like Xion. And she is an important character in Roxas' story.
But I understand why others hate Xion though.

 

It mostly have to do something with the yaoi "AkuRoku" (Axel/Roxas pairing) fans. They say Xion interrupts their relationship. Yeah.

 

Isn't this pretty much necrobumped by now?
She pretty much ruined Axel and Roxas' relationship by inspiring him to do the ending of 358/2 Days.

 

I agree with saying most of the 'hate' for Xion comes fron the yaoi fangirls.

And now to add my personal thoughts.

I dislike Xion. I wouldn't say I hate her, but I just dislike her. As a character, to me, she falls a bit short. But, with the past that she has, there was no other way for her to go. Though it's true I tend to be a bit more critical of female characters, she was just...nothing new. Not really unique enough, for me.

Her large role in the story kind of disappointed me. I'd have rather seen a different story with just the 13 organization members that we were already familiar with. Because, fitting a new main character in between two major plots of an established story just feels wrong, no matter how you do it.

Honestly, I share Saix's thoughts/"feelings" about her. She was something that shouldn't have happened...

 

I personally believe that Xion is just a filler character. She has almost no contribution to the storyline. Heck, the whole entire game makes little contribution to the story. She's also quite bland, with pretty much no character development.

 

Bit of another necro in here....anyway, my 2 cents.

Xion isn't a character that I would have seen being hated really, but having played Days myself, she just come off as...boring really. There wasn't really anything special about her compared to everyone else in that game (Xigbar liked to be a ******, Axel was the joker kinda guy, Sa'ix was always serious, Demyx was a kid, etc.) and you don't even get much story with her until near the end of the game. She's obviously important, being the reason why Roxas leaves the Organization, but they really could have made her a lot more interesting instead of pretty much a palette swap of Kairi in an Organization coat (yes I know she's made from the memory of Kairi or whatever, but Namine, her Nobody, still looks more distinguishable).

 

^This. If you're gonna add a new character to a major plot, you need to do it right.

 

I don't hate Xion, but I don't like her also (not my favorites). I guess the problem starts with 358/2 days, we played the game after playing KH II because we "wanted to know more about Roxas" but again, all 358 wasn't really necessary as the essential story of Roxas was in KH II. So we played 358 to learn more about Roxas, and in the end the "new thing" about Roxas was Xion, a character that was made only to be forgotten...


If Xion didn't exist Roxas wouldn't run from the Organization, thats right, but I think it would be even easier for Riku to capture him this way... think about it! Without Xion Roxas wouldn't have dual wielding abilities so he would be in overral weaker, he would not have a "motive to win" so Riku would probably overpower him whithout the aid of Darkness, and Roxas did want to meet Sora previously, he didn't gone after Sora because Xion misslead him to overthrow the organization.

The worst part is that Xion was made to be Roxas "Girlfriend" , but we played KH II and were happy with Roxas in Love if Naminé (that b*tc* seems to put her charm in every Keyblade wielder out there, its a surprise she didn't hit off in mickey), sure Xion seems a better match now but he didn't need one before we knew about her.


But the worst really is that she is just another character made to be saved by Sora, but I can't see she being saved in the end! Terra can be saved from the darkness, Aqua can be taken back to them realm of light, Ventus can be awaken ... even Roxas and Vanitas I can see them "being saved" Ventus awaking with memories of Roxas/Vanitas maybe that could be showed physicaly with Ventus having vanitas and Roxas keyblades.. remmbering Sora and Axel too.. but where would be Xion? She doesnt have a Heart/body to recover and It would be akward if Sora fell in love with Roxas/Ventus just to recover Xion's memories >_>... So she can't be saved.

 

The only reason why people don't like Xion is because she's pretty much weak. They also don't like her because she's an imperfect copy of Roxas. I like Xion and think she's cool.

 

I'm seeing a mini necro here... Uuh! Right! Here's my opinion about Xion!

First of all, can I just say I like her as a character? I found it quite tragic when she found out she's only a pawn to the Organization. Someone to absorb her best friend, so that Sora may not ever wake. She didn't want to choose that life.
Xion is a resilient, caring friend who kept the comatose Roxas company when Axel couldn't. Like Roxas and Axel, they all wanted to be normall... To be somebody.

But, as fate so permits it, she is also a part of Sora, and of Roxas. Xion cannot escape that circle. Deep down after some point, she knows this, and though she did not want to hurt her own friends... The organisation (or what was left of it) took her own will away, forcing Xion to battle with Roxas. Sh

Bleh I could say so much more, but I have run out of time!

 

I think the reason why so many KH players did not care for Xion are as followed:

1: Though she is an important Character to both Roxas' and Sora's story between Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts 2, the story could have continued without her-- by that I mean, Xion the character herself could have never been created and some players might have thought that she wasn't needed in the story at all.

2: Her voice actor is Allison Stoner. I'm not sure if most people care for the voice actors in KH (Which has had MANY Disney stars, and semi-popular celebrities voicing all the characters in KH) but some may have found her voice annoying, or her annoying in general. Xion does act helpless a lot, but it's only because she has been hurt/confused through out the whole entire game.

3: She may just not be a likable character in some people's eyes. I remember back in the day when KH first surfaced, many of my friends(this doesn't include EVERYONE. We all have different opinions) didn't care for Riku at all-- and it wasn't until the other games that we saw the good, caring, honest and noble side of Riku. In some sense, Xion may have not been a important/interesting characters to other players.

Regardless of anyone's reasons/opinions for disliking or liking Xion, I think she is a very strong character. Not only did she accept her fate, but she was willing to accept it because she cared for her friends and what was right more than her well being.

 

Xion was not a bad idea......it's just that they didn't do much with her. I wouldn't mind if they add a new character but they need to do it right. Her gameplay was awful, her character herself was ok, and the reason how she was created is just....ridiculous. She didn't have that much detail, all I'm saying is that if they are going to use her in the future titles then they're gonna have to fix her big time
