My mom likes people to call her Elly, instead of Eleanor.

Sophie, alternatively Sophia. I'm partial to Elizabeth, Samantha, Claire, and Serenity.

I am excessively fond of the name Elizabeth. It's been a popular one in this thread but I fully intend to name my child that if I ever have one. Male figure gets no say. As it should be.

In general I just find it a lovely name, I like that it has so many nickname possibilities because I am super into nicknames (though Elsie is my favorite ♥); it gets Pride & Prejudice points as well, but my attachment towards it is mostly because it's my mom's name. Just trying to be good to the people who raised me & all.
Sophie was my dad's suggestion for my name, actually (though at that point it was pretty clear that my mom was 100% in control of everything so won through sometimes I'm really not surprised they got divorced); he recycled it for my half-sister. It's a nice enough name but my problem is that there's no great nickname option--I mean obviously Sophia -> Sophie, but we end up calling her ridiculous things like 'the soph'.

But if that's not a big deal to you then yeah. I don't know why I'm so into there being the possibility of nicknames? I guess because, if your kid really hates the name you give them, they can always go by a nickname. Or because I've always gone by a nickname. I don't know.

In the Belgian parliament, one particular politician goes by the full name of Hermes Sanctorum. No suit deserves a name that awesome.
