I've encountered hate topics before, but after a while, I began to ask: what's the point? What the hell is the point of postin' polls askin' if certain other people hate a character created by a bunch of polygons slapped down with a fancy texture? It's just really idiotic to post topics such as that. Not only is it a waste of time, but ye may also end up incidentally hurtin' some of the more sensitive fans and then all hell breaks loose.

So I ask, what's the point? There must be a REAL logical explanation for this. D:

Why do people REALLY make "Do you hate ----" threads?

So they can show-off, and argue that their favorite is the best.

But that hasn't actually answered ze question. I shoulda made it more clear though. Sure, you could dislike a character, but you can't express negative emotion against a fictional character that's only viewable on a digital screen

Some people think that those characters are real to an extent. They know that the character isn't real, but in terms of the universe of that game/story/movie, that person is real, and important. So, I guess, they put themselves in the mindset that that universe is real, and exists.

Then again, with the Parallel Universe theory, it could be. :x

Some people must be REALLY bored.
Maybe to see who do or don't like a specific character?

It probably is a combination of boredom and curiosity to see how well liked a character is or disliked and why. It is kind of spammy in a way but at the same time it is interesting now and then to see other people's views on the characters. People, I would hope, that respond to the threads aren't so sensitive as someone mentioned above because though we have our likes and dislikes, they aren't real and it also shows how different we can be. I do agree it is a spam of a sort, but sometimes with some intuitive posts, I've found maybe some of my opinions on some characters may have been a bit harsh too so it all depends.

Because that's the point you get the fans angry.

Besides some of the characters are gay or stuff.

Like if there was a game with a ghetto acting, ******, ignorant gay kid. I wouldn't like him/her. But yeah mostly to piss of the fans.

    And for easy post count.

well if u put it like that..."whats the point of talking about fancy polygons" then might i ask you what the point is getting an account on kh-vids...? I mean, its essentially, minus the spamzone and those other un-kh-related sections, all about "fancy polygons" and their advancement through a story.

I agree, the making of the "so who hates ___" threads are really getting annoying but its easily justifiable...

Same reason you made this thread for. People get bored and curious, and feel like talking about it.

That still hasn't answered the question. Why HATE somethin' that doesn't actually exist in real life? That's the question I was askin' and no one answered. No sane or smart person would be so bored as to post such a topic

No intelligence. Or like some people on the forum they just try to make other things feel bad so they can feel better about themselves. lololololololol

And by the same logic... what kind of example is it to start a thread about "What's The Point?" in debating the roles of characters in a story.

Its like a book club... you discuss different characters, how they are developing, exchange opinions on them...

Same thing with Tabloids discussing starts we will never meet. Same thing with movie reviewers discusing movie plotlines...

No one questions them? So why should one member of a video game fansite question why someone dislikes a particular character?

As for why... maybe they don't like the personality traits the writer gave them. Do I need more of an answer?
