    So when my t.v. randomly turns off when my door is closed, no one besides me is in the room, and the remote is facing upwards on my desk...

    That would scare the crap out of me, and I would never turn on my TV again. The Ring actually did scare me, but I saw it, like, 4 years ago. May that's why. But it still kinda scares me.
