Today I learned that my college offers Japanese language classes.

mine does as well, just the only classes that transfer are Japanese III and IV. Problem being is you have to go in order, so you're doing a bunch just to get a transferable class

Yeah, but I just need the knowledge, not the transferable credits. TUA requires, at the very least, a working knowledge of spoken Japanese.

I need it too, but I need all of my classes to be transferable because I can't get a 3D animation degree at my community college, so I need classes that can be transfered to a university

    I wish you good luck.

The writing of Kanji will be your biggest obstacle.

True that. Though if I get into TUA, I might be able to get by using Romaji. Not sure though.

Is Romanji some type of hybrid of two seperate languages? Like writing the phonetic sounds of Japanese words?
    Like 'Konichiwa'?

So does mine. Isn't it wonderful when they don't put stuff up until after you've already signed up for your classes?
I'm taking it next semester too.

No, dude, don't use romaji. It makes everything twice as hard.
Even if you only learn kana, it makes your life so much easier.

It may be harder in some ways, but it'll be easier until I my kana handwriting gets to be not horrible. I do plan on learning all the writing systems, but I may as well start with what's familiar to me, ya?

Maybe, but just don't plan on using romaji as a crutch.

Mine does too. I'd find it quite odd if there was a college/university that didn't offer Japanese language classes. For my course, I pretty much had to choose a language to study, just for this year though. I was tempted to choose Japanese but I decided that it'd be too hard and I didn't want people to think I was a weeaboo so I chose French instead. :B
