    Okay, it's just what I'm tiring to say is that if that courtroom scene had taken place in real life, even eighty years ago, it would have gone by very differently. I think having someone else fight your battle while quietly standing idly by is the exact opposite of courage. I would have been happy if the Blacks did anything in their own fight for freedom.

    They're supporting Atticus as he tries to fight a futile battle alone. I would think that's courage. Some of them might have been threatened not to attend the court hearing at all. If you're being threatened in every single way to NOT fight back, what the heck are you supposed to do? Besides, eventually some did and they gained a bad rep.
