As an advocate of good grammar and correct English I use a spell checker, which would be great if it could spell! Colour and such words are always spelt incorrectly! I do my best and actually have a reasonable vocabulary.

Well it's true. Grammar+Spelling are essential in an RP. The book analogy is perfect. Would you spend the time reading a book that was spelt so horrendously, that you thought you were reading another language at times? I highly doubt it. Now that I am mod there though, I will be pushing for everyone to start using correct spelling AND punctuation. It doesnt hurt to make yourself look at least a little more intelligent than a primate.

What the HELL does that have to do with ANYTHING?

 

Arc is now my hero. The last comment however did make me smile. Humans are primates and genetically very similar to chimpanzees. It would be nice however to think of ourselves as literate chimpanzees though!

 

Thats only if you believe in evolutionism Garanth, im not a religious person, but I believe, no matter how close genetically we are, Humans were mad as Humans, and Primates as just that. Otherwise, IMO, we wouldnt have chimps around anymore, they would all be people, or some variation.

 

Well that depends. Creatures evolve based on survival needs. So while some chimps evolved to help fend off predators and live easier, the groups that lived in much safer areas with plenty of resources wouldnt find a need to evlove and stayed in the form that they are.

Some of the posts in this thread seriously damaged my health ><. There should be some sort of warning for people entering the thread "This thread may permanently damage your health" x.x.

I am often disgusted by some peoples spelling on the internet. I think that if they can't spell English words they shouldn't be able to use English as their language. It's an insult to the language when it is abused so badly >_>
