Nope! Everything up through DDD is the same. It's canon divergent starting with KH3.
It could be considered a prediction fic rather than an AU, technically, but I know this sh*t probably won't happen in canon so it's AU.

 

So what even is Roxas's mission? How's he not dead(?) (was that addressed in DDD?)

 

In DDD, Roxas is basically sleeping in Sora's heart. At least, that's what I got out of it. So he's still there, chilling out, I guess. He was never really 'dead' in the first place.

As for the now, he doesn't really have much of a 'mission', per-say, beyond 'don't get kidnapped by the 'Nort Squad again'. He's helping out Sora and Co. to an extent, but in terms of fighting he's kinda on the sidelines.

Nope! That's just where he starts out at. He gets out through the power of SCIENCE and Yen Sid being a magical badass.

Yen Sid, obvs. And Mickey, of course. And Donald and Goofy because we just can't seem to get rid of them can we.
He might meet more but that's all I have off the top of my head.
