I would have thanked him if he did. My slingen's defence mode effect would have protected it, then I could have junk box'd my celfon into another monster lol.

Power tool's attack starts at 2300, is raised to 3300 by C&D, so unless you somehow lost 1000 LP already, you should be at 4700.

 

It was C&D's effect.

While equipped: ● During your turn: It gains 1000 ATK. If it attacks, any effects of the attack target that activate or apply on the field are negated during that Battle Phase.

That's where the extra 1000 came from.
