The Orphanage

Seth continued to sttand there as the guards started to attack each other. Unfortunately for him a guard regained control and headed straight for Seth. Seth looked at the guard at the guard headed straight for him but the moment the guard reached Seth the guard's body froze. Seth smiled as the guard headed back to the other guards and attacked them

 

Famous nodded, then took off running toward his sister.
The blood... it's bleeding a lot, he thought, arriving next to her. However, as he looked at her now, blood-stained hair over her face,he could tell what she was trying to do.

"So clever, whatever.
I'm done with these endeavors.
Alone I walk the winding way..."

"No, Legend! You can't use your gift right now... You'll only weaken yourself more..."

Legend looked up at her twin brother.
"They won't let me live much longer... in the condition I'm in, it's my only hope..." she spoke, although she was getting weaker by the minute; Famous was correct.
The loss of blood made Legend sway a bit.

"It's not your only hope, Legend. It can't be.... You're eleven, they only kill us when we're twenty, okay?"


Elevir only regained her focus moments later, hearing the scream of a girl younger than her, and then, what could only have been downed guards. However, only then did she realize the cold metal of a gun against her head. She felt utterly defenseless... utterly useless without something to defend herself with.
Then again, looking around, she wouldn't be able to defend herself, even with the knife. Guards surrounded her and Larz; she could see the gun up to the manic's head, too.

"Listen up, useless twats. Any of you make one more move, and we open fire," the guard next to Elevir spat through a megaphone, echoing off the walls and making her ears ring again. However... she could hear that he didn't want to do this...
"You don't have to do this..." she spoke weakly. "Why... why are you?"

"Sh... shut up. None of you... mutants could ever understand the real world." he replied, kicking her roughly.

Seth dropped to the ground in exhaustion. Controlling the guards took an enormous amount of energy and Seth had reached his peak. Seth just stayed on the ground unable to move as he look up ahead and saw the other. The control over the guards was gone. A guard walked up to Seth and picked him up by his hair

 

Rek growled and tackled the guard with his gun to Elevir's head. "Get down!" He yelled to the other gifts as he heated the clips of the guard's guns. The gun powder in each bullet shell exploded with the heat, the clips exploding.

 

Aly grabbed Eva as she shifted, then pulled her down, wincing. It hurt her ears, and she coudlnt' imagine how Eva felt. Letting her sister get up, she smiled. "A kitten?" she asked, before picking her up and running to find Legend.

Eva meowed, concerned by all the blood. She didn't like this, not one bit. What's wrong with her? Eva slowly shifted back to human as her sister set her down.

 

"Enough!"
Framed in he entrance way, the director stood. His eyes were cold as ice, yet held so much restrained rage it looked like he could burn a person's soul.

"Don't interfer with the job application process Captain. I need to see if this child can fill a staff position."

 

Aly froze, turning to face the man who had made their lives a misery. She tilted her head, then started surrounding his mind with images of his dead wife, of their son murdering her. Whether his mind accepted them or not depended, but they were there. She smiled.

 

"A staff postition?" the Captain laughed bitterly. "She's hardly what, twelve?"
However, orders were orders, and he stepped aside, signaling for his remaining men to as well.


After the Captain kicked her side, like one would a savage dog, she thought she tasted blood in her throat. It was probably caused by the same thing that did... whatever that just was a few minutes ago.

"An... Another test?" Elevir asked. She stood up shakily, using the wall to hold herself up. "Why are there so many tests..." the girl asked discreetly to herself, although she spoke it as a statement and less of a question.

"What... am I required to do... Director?"

 

"Use that brain of yours."

Kneeling down, the director came to eye level with the girl. There was only one test. A test of loyalty, of servitude, of the will to survive. The test was simple. Kill his son. There was nothing more to it.

 

Aly shook her head, her thoughts being pushed back on her. "No! You can't!" she yelled, running for him.

Eva cried out as her sister ran towards the director, unaware of the guns. She leapt for one guard, tearing out his throat, but there was too many. "Aly!"

 

Ren walked towards the scene and observed what Elevir was going to do

 

The girl nodded breifly in understanding of what she had to do.
"I'm going to need a weapon..." she spoke, ignoring the other two girls. The guards could deal with them. The dark haired girl looked around, not surprised to see a shocked look on many of the other gifts' faces, as they watched the events unfold.
As her eyes met the Director's once again, for a fraction of a second she thought she'd felt a fragment of... regret. It seemed to linger there, forcing hesitation from where it hid in the shadows of her mind.

 

"Why you already have weapons my dear. Powerful to do the job, your own two hands."

To convey his point, Victor lifted up his own five fingers of death and wiggled them. These hands had killed countless people. All of them were by pulling a trigger or commanding a pen to write a execution warrant. Never were they called upon to do the job the way Elevir did.

 

Aly cried out as a guard seized her by the neck, choking her. She was shoved against a wall, while Eva was tasered. "You can't!" she managed to yell, then started sending images to the director again, trying to make him stop.

 

The Director twitched at the mental attacks. These were however futile. Hardened by loss and trained through years of experience, He was able to shut out the thoughts. His vindictions were too strong. This would be the moment humanity was saved.

 

Elevir growled inaudibly and sent a backlash to Aly's attack.

'Finally, the moment when Humanity... will be saved...'
Now she understood why it was so important for Larz to die.... It wasn't the Gifts in general that were a problem... it was him. Turning towards the manic, she paused. Could she really kill him; hours after calling him her only friend?

It was then that she realized that she was, again, in a situation where she didn't have a choice. She'd be killed if she didn't follow orders... even if she wasn't a guard yet.

 

Aly cried out, finally becoming still due to lack of air and the hurt she could feel. Barely conscious, she coudl see Eva running, and smiled slightly. Her sister would take care of it.

Eva broke free, still trembling from the shock. She ran to Larz, then shifted to a mouse at the last minute, slipping past the guards who looked up for their opponent. She changed back on the other side, then went to Larz shaking him gently. "Come on come on come on." she whispered.

Larz felt Eva shake him. He didn't know what was going on. Fear began to flood his veins. Something was going to happen, something bad. Why were there so much bads around him? Why?

BIC: Eva fought the guards who grabbed her, biting down on her lower lip to keep from screaming. One smacked, grinning, to shut her up. She shifted slightly, faster then slower, then faster again, into different animal shapes. It made anyone who wasn't ready for it sick to their stomachs, usually.
