The Orphanage

"So you stop being you? I don't want to become twenty. I want to stay me."

 

"Stop being you? I suppose if you don't believe in religion, that'd be true. That's why we have to escape." He chuckled lightly at the odd way Larz spoke. "We have to escape very soon......How old are you? If you know that is."

 

Larz did not understand the question

"What?"

 

Eva closed her eyes, meowing quietly to herself.

 

"How many years have you been you?" He asked instead.

 

Larz began to pet eva. Her soft fur felt so diffrent from his room. They were both soft, but his room was smooth. Eva seemed sharp.

"Forever?"


ooc: I'm sorry, he's been locked in that room all his life. It is a miracle that he even knows how to talk.

 

"Hm.....Have you heard the guards refer to any number between one and twenty?" Then he thought for a seond. "But you probably don't know numbers either......How can we find out how old you are...?" He asked no one in particular.

 

"How old are you?"

Larz loved these sounds. they were so strange, so new. It was all so sudden. He was so happy.

 

"I am sixteen years old, turning seventeen fairly soon...But i'll never make it twenty-one while i'm in here..." Rek sighed and stretched.

 

"I've heard that sound before, twenty one."

It was never a sound he liked. the voices always said is so poorly. too many bad things were in that sound. That was something he didn't like.

 

Eva looked up at Larz, her amber green eyes worried. She wondered if she should change back.

 

"Twenty-one?" Rek became alert,that must be his age! "But if you're twenty-one......What made them let you live beyond twenty?"

 

He didn't understand what he said, but the elemental made bad sounds. He didn't like that. Getting a little nervous, Larz backed up what step

"What?"

His triangle began to spin slowly. a small amount of his madness was leaking out and would affect the others soon.

 

Rek noticed Larz's anxiety and let his voice become calm. "Just calm down, Larz. It's okay, nothing bad is happening. Eva, you may want to move away though." He held his hands palm up in front of him so Larz would feel less threatened.

 

The air became a bit thicker and Larz's gift began to make the others feel things crawling up their legs.

 

"Larz, Larz! It's okay, calm down buddy. Nothing is happening, control your power." He calmly moved forward, picking Eva up from Larz's hand and slowly stepping back before setting her on the floor. "Larz, control it before anyone gets hurt..."

 

Eva closed her eyes, starting to feel sick to her stomach. No no no no no. she shifted back to human form. "Larz, please, calm down."

 

Larz fell to his knees. What was happening? all the bad sounds. He has to stop it. He has to make the bad sounds go away.

the children in the immediate area began to get paranoid and their brain paths were being twisted.

 

He moved beside Larz, resting his hand on the man's shoulders. He forced his voice to be devoid of any pain or fear, making it sound a bit cheery even. "Just calm down Larz. Calm down and everything will be okay, my friend."

 

At that the sensations stop. Larz was pacified. any later and everyone would have becomed like the three guards from before who were still wimpering on the floor next to them.
