Question for anyone else who's watched Kill la Kill

Did Satsuki kill anyone? There's an argument here about whether or not she'd be considered partly evil for killing people, yet I don't recall her ever killing a student or any other character.

As far as I know, the only person she even attempted to kill in the series was Ragyo -- maybe Nui, but I'm not 100% sure on that front -- and that was because of her personal vendetta. She might have blackmailed and beaten up some students, but as far as I can recall, she never killed anyone.

Not that I think of, though she certainly wasn't opposed to it. Mako nearly getting deepfried in one of the early episodes (and then dissected by the Bio club) come to mind, as well as when she tore up all the students right after Ragyo brainwashed them pre-time skip. She was a pretty solid "the ends will justify the means" character, so it just depends on how people feel about that line of thinking in accordance to what she did.

But yeah, she never went out of her way to kill anyone that wasn't Ragyo. Not counting Ryuko though since she always kinda started it with Satsuki...lol.

Seed has some of the prettiest mech design and some pretty slick fight scenes. However, it was the series where I first realized I could enjoy a Gundam that I thought was bad as a Gundam series. I consider G Gundam not a Gundam series. Still didn't finish it, though. Started Destiny regardless and it's incredibly fun to rip on Shinn.

    Which ones did you keep?

I haven't watched Seed in a long time and I'm somewhat curious if it would hold up. If it's like that I kinda want to preserve the memory and not watch it ha. I loved G. Lol Shinn. There are some moments when I genuinely feel for him though.

I kept the five MG's that came out during the Seed Remaster.I wanted to keep a "tribute" of sorts to the first series I watched and like you said, Seed has some really pretty designs and these are some of my favorites.

G was so bad. Part of what I like about Gundam is that they keep a solid foot in hard science fiction while excepting the use of humanoid mechs. I personally love the 8th MS team scene where the dude in the Gouf solos the main team and the recently released battle in three dimension clip. It shows the importance of information and strategy in combat and like all UC stuff shows these things getting damaged and running out of ammunition and so on. G Gundam didn't even pretend to want any of that. They punch each other to fight and got into space by HOLDING ONTO ROCKETS. Then there's the level of, "Oh Japan", stereotyped MS and character designs and borderline racism. Also, the production values and the direction had to be really bad for some of those scenes like when Master Asia turns into a ball. G Gundam was enjoyable but really and truly just an awful super robot series that just used the Gundam name. It can be appreciated only as such.

Now SEED I only thought was bad because of the characters because I was more or less fine with the plot and fight scenes. By this point I'd already seen good bits of MS Gundam and all of Gundam Wing and G Gundam, so I was expecting Kira and company to not annoy the shit outta me and make me want them dead. I was wrong.

Whenever I see Shinn the first thing I do is shout, "HE GOT THE PHONE! WHY'D HE EVEN GET THE PHONE? THAT AIN'T EVEN RIGHT! etc. etc", because of that first episode.

I watched gameplay videos of the stuff shown at PAX East this weekend and Child of Light looked so good. I'm definitely going to pick it up, though if it costs too much I'm probably gonna wait till I save up more money since I am deadset on buying Transistor next month.

For me that stuff is part of the charm of the series. Like, yeah, it's total insanity and deviates so far from what Gundam is at its core, but it's just 50 episodes of lighthearted fun not to be taken seriously by any means. I never bothered to look at the series critically because it clearly wasn't trying to be intellectual on any level. But all of those things you said are good criticisms. I too love Gundam for maintaining its science fiction elements, but I wish it would get away from all of the tropes and traditions it's had locked down for decades now. I wasn't much of a fan of Age, but I did appreciate it for being somewhat different at first.
Getting into space by holding onto rockets still cracks me up.

Yeah that's the most common complaint I hear people have with Seed. Kira himself didn't annoy me too much, it was just.. everyone else that did. Cagalli remains one of my most hated characters in anything. The Char look-alike was p. cool though. And I always loved Dearka for being the one down to earth, sane, not melodramatic character in the whole show.

I just use Kira as an example. Everyone who was not genetically Mu La Flaga can go suck a dick as far as I'm concerned. That said I have no idea who this Dearka fellow is. It's been a while.

It's been a pretty average movie so far. Japan looks like a pretty cool place though.
