Always re-host Zero Chan images. Trying to share directly from that site never works out.

    About ZeroChan...

A lot of the pictures there come from artists who upload their works to a site called Pixiv. The art posted to ZeroChan is not credited to the original artist most of the time. A lot of the artists on Pixiv do not give permission for their art to be posted anywhere and some even threaten to close their albums on Pixiv entirely if they find it posted elsewhere. And I know a number of them are petitioning to have Pixiv be closed to western IP addresses entirely.

I know I would be upset if someone posted one of my works somewhere without my permission and claimed it as theirs. Something I put a lot of time and energy into. A lot of these works are amazing and these artists are talented. It is a privilege to even be able to see it. A privilege that could just as easily be lost if not respected.

Sounds a lot like We Heart It. I'm not saying I agree with art theft and I have never claimed something someone else had made as my own, but that's a big risk that comes with posting things online. Just stating fact, not trying to start an argument or anything. Whether or not Western IPs have access or not I think Easterners would still distribute things without credit. There is no difference in human fault whether you are from the East or the West.

I just have a Firefox add-on that allows me to right-click an image and reupload it to Imgur in seconds. Otherwise, just get the image's URL and put it on Imgur the traditional way.

When I posted my pictures from ShutoCon on Tumblr last April, some person took two of them (arguably my two best) and put them on WeHeartIt. Because of how they were saved/uploaded, you could see my blog's URL in the title or description or something, but I was still a little miffed. Like, if you're gonna do that, at least ASK the person you're taking them from. Is that really so hard?

It seems like it is for some people. I know a good many cosplay photographers, my boyfriend is a photographer himself, and they will generally use some sort of watermark on their work. That still doesn't stop people from just cutting their logo right off. I actually had a friend make a post about this other day. He put his watermark right in the center of the photo and made it huge.

"Absurd Watermark Logo? Yup. This was meant as a joke. I've noticed many other photographers who do this for real. I think it ruins photos. If you are afraid people will steal your photos to the point of having to block most of the photo, just don't upload your photos to the internet."

The internet is a great thing, but makes art theft way too easy. And if you put your stuff online you have to realize that. It's a risk. The person just has to decide if the risk is worth it.

It's a thing everywhere. I've uploaded sprites to tumblr and have actually watermarked them so they don't get stolen.

Not that I've seen them uploaded anywhere else, but as soon as I do, I know I'm gonna stop posting them.

Wait, art theft ? As far as I know, unless you copyrighted your pictures, legally speaking posting them on the net is a tacit agreement on your part to let anyone and everyone copy and share them. Don' t like it ? Doesn' t change the law.

I' ve seen a tumblr home page disclaiming not to bother contacting its author to have pictures removed unless they' re copyrighted, he doesn' t care and knows he doesn' t have to.

I always keep that in mind whenever I post pics, once posted they aren' t private anymore.

Also, especially concerning fanart, like those on pixiv, those are drawings of copyrighted characters. Yes, the person may have drawn them in their style or whatever, but they didn't create the character. Which just opens up copyright claims from those who do own the characters.

Ah, another day of classes, another day I return with homework. <_<

Guess I'll just relax for now and do it tommorow or later depending on my mood.

Nothing says a great day than having a flat tire in the middle of a snowstorm and then figuring out that one of your toes has no circulation at all. D:

    Where's the sunshine? ;c
