Please listen to my voice which I still kind of hate.

On another news, been trying to compose Jazz but today when I tried I just something completely terrifying (Not in the bad sense, it would be very fitting for a villian), not what I had in mind BUT OH WELL.

WE'LL KEEP ON TRYING. 'TILL THE END OF TIME. 'TILL THE EEEEEEEEND OF TIME.

Again, thank you, I really appreciate your thoughs. c:

But it's like when you record and hear your own voice, that's what I meant to say, unless you have an audio-obsessed-person-tier mic it's never going to sound 100% the same.

    Still, thank you. c:

Even if it sounds exactly like you, it still won't sound like what you hear, because it reverberates in your head D:

Hmm, I never though it that way, maybe I AM hearing it from my angle and it sounds exactly the same as when people hear me.

    Thank you!

Anyways, listening to Guilty Gear Xrd's OST and goodness gracious's Slayer's theme, THAT SAX.

So I'm trying to get into reading comics, right? I made a thread about that awhile ago? Anyway, I'm running into the issue I run into whenever I try to read: There's no stimulus. I leave a TV on for background noise and that ends up pulling my attention away because I hear a word or something that spikes my curiosity, so of course I'm like "WELL TURN THAT SHIZ OFF" but then it's too quiet and I was wondering if any avid readers here could give me tips.

i have a similar problem in that i always have a song stuck in my head which makes it hard to focus. rainymood does wonders in giving you something to hear that is not distracting at all. but really it all comes down to clearing your head and focusing on what youre doing. suffice it to say i havent mastered this yet. workin on it tho
if you have music that you could play in the bg that wouldnt distract you give that a shot, this doesnt work for me if im concentrating though.
as far as motivation goes, dont force it. do it when you feel like it. i havent been reading much OP lately because im a little drained and dont want to burn out.
there have been times when i'm not much invested in whatever i'm reading, but i find focusing hard on it for a couple panels or pages can peak my interest. kinda kick-start the engine or whatever i dont know car lingo

I don't think I'd be able to help you out much. I'm not into reading comics like Marvel or DC. I only read short fan comics. I'd say the longest comic I've ever read would be Jay Naylor's 'Better Days' comic and I power housed my way through it. The only thing I could probably say is to try and delve into the story. It's like reading a good book, once you get hooked you can't step away. Also as @you so spice mentioned, try playing some music in the background that way you're not caught off guard by something that makes you want to turn it off. I personally concentrate better in silence but if sound helps you focus music would be a better option.

Listen to something you can't understand instead. Basically, I read comics and manga in total silence usually because that's how I read all books, it's always been that way and it has never bothered me. In fact I do a lot of things in silence and it never really gets to me, but if you need some kind of noise make it something your brain doesn't associate with a message. Instrumental music usually works for people who don't play instruments seriously. If you need words, go foreign, you probably only speak English and maybe one other language as an American so you have tons to choose from.

My other suggestion would be to be like me and learn to ignore silence.

Jiku is right that ignoring silence (and even noises) is a learned ability. I used to be incapable of reading when there was any noise around me, but a combination of school lounges and reading at work helped with that a lot. Otherwise, if you find you're getting distracted, environment is a big thing you can change. Try to read in a room where you can't find a distraction. A room without an easily accessible TV, stereo, computer, etc. is ideal for reading because you won't get distracted, but sometimes you need a little atmosphere too. http://simplynoise.com/ can be helpful. Candles, nice lamps, comfy couch, that sort of thing. I also can't read unless the room is clean.

It's also possible that whatever you're reading just isn't engaging you, or if it is, is just challenging to read ( THERE IS A DIFFERENCE ). I'm really digging and interested in Night & Day by Virginia Woolf, but I can't read more than a few pages a night because her writing is quite challenging for me. But if you're not drawn into the work, it might not be your fault.

I' d rather read in silence. I have a vivid enough imagination to play the whole thing in my head. The voices, the action, the whole movie. If I can make sure nothing will pull me out I will.

If what I' m doing actually requires me to think then potential distractions are a big no no. Having music around would just make me lose my train of thoughts all the time.

I'm still miffed reality doesn't come with a soundtrack. Things would be more interesting.

Just have to figure out what my villain song would be.
