A couple of one of my suitemate's friends came over and we had a party. There was alcohol, but fortunately no one got ****-faced and we ended up watching like 5 episodes of Parks & Rec. One of said friends was pretty cute tho and she seemed pretty chill, and this is the first time in a while I've found someone new I've met kinda attractive.

I don't really know much about music composition at all, but it could be helpful to look at some solos other people have made and try to see if toy around with the way they structured it before moving onto wholly start from scratch original stuff.

 

Hmm... I do own some MIDI tabs I can look at, and if I feel like alter some notes.

On top of that I found some video of a guy drawing solos/riffs out of thin air using a MOUSE of all things. Apparently the trick is in doing a melody and then repeating it one note higher/one note lower/Yougetit. Then playing with it, then doing more melodies, and so on.

Another problem is, I can't get a very "Metal solo" sound with the distortion plugin I'm using, either because the version I'm using it's outdated (I know there is a newer one) and/or I don't know how the sound it's named (I heard it being called OverDrive or HiGain by some)

Or maybe it's my horrible on-board sound card not letting the plugin reproduce those sounds (Just a theory)...

Oh well, I will figure it out eventually, I always do.

So I found out that my mock AP Lit test is going to be on a teacher work day -- which would normally be a day off for us. But that's not the best part: that teacher work day is my birthday.

Four hours of writing and multiple choice for my 18th. Yaaaaay...

Guess I have to start then, to liven up the mood.

Being honest, I have never listened to real bands or artists until I was around 15, I was absolutely onto only videogame music, until I discovered Guilty Gear and it's song "Keep Yourself Alive" which has the same name as a Queen song.

Queen then turned into the first band I ever listened, sure, I had listened to some small bits of the songs from my family before, but I was never into it as much as I am now.

I used to be a huge band groupie and always tried to go to concerts and stuff but then I couldn't get free passes anymore cause my uncle moved out of the country and changed his job and tickets are really expensive (and I always seem to be in the hospital when my favourite bands come along LOL). I still am interested in music, of course but I think I'm the opposite. I don't really follow bands anymore and such.

Being honest, I don't follow bands either, save for Queen, I just listen to songs, I DO have some sort of personal bias with what songs I listen depending on if I listened to that band/artist either because I got previous examples if they are competent or not. But I am not afraid to listen to new stuff as long as I get recommendations from people I know (Read: I started listening to Led Zeppelin from somebody in my family's recommendation)

Speaking of that somebody, I saw one of it's friends and it's band play a few days ago, they played Rock and stuff, pretty good if it wasn't for the fact the constant vibrations of the sound didn't made me almost deaf. Haha.

It was a nice experience though.

Oh yeah, lately I've been the same. I've never been one to follow what's on the radio - just whatever someone recommends and stuff or music I hear from my favourite shows/cartoons/films.

And oh dear, yes, live performances - especially in closed spaces like bars - are so interesting because you enjoy the music but at the same time it's almost uncomfortable loooool
