tfw your music library is 50gb and youre tryin to find things to delete that arent essential but everything is except siouxsie and the banshees but you cant bring yourself to pick on poor little siouxsie[DOUBLEPOST=1463102660][/DOUBLEPOST]also new pierce the veil is hecka sweet. they are the kings of delicious feel bad progressive post hardcore.

 

You should check out the band Slaves if you haven't heard of them yet. It's Jonny Craig's current band (he gets kicked out of most of the bands he ends up in in lol). Their album "Through Art We Are All Equals" is fantastic, their newer one isn't as good but its not bad. Don't know if his vocal style is your kind of thing, but the dude has the voice of an angel.

 

i appreciate the thoughtful rec but i refuse to listen to anything by him. he's a terrible person and i dont like his vocals either

mainly i just dont like his voice, but his singing always seems too indulgent and like its trying to manipulate the listener into thinking his music is more emotional than it is. all that ooOOoooOOOooOOO stuff doesnt work for me and seems disingenuous. plus the lyrics are stupid. not that all lyrics i like arent, but coupled with singing i dont like its a little more glaring. ALTHOUGH i may be projecting what i know about him as a person onto his music. like i know he has a habbit of lying so im not willing to believe that his "emotional" music is actually emotional lol. and mainly what i know him from is emarosa and back in the day i always liked the guy who came before him more, and the the recent guy who replaced him i think is better too, though tbh i dont like any version of that band now. aaand i already liked more than my fair share of bands of that style. point is j craig just isnt for this guy.

 

I understand why you probably don't enjoy his style of singing. Probably one of the reasons I do is because I have 10+ years experience as a musician and one of the main styles I played growing up was Jazz. I remember hearing many people criticize it as just "random improv" and they would say stuff like "a better muscician can play on time and not have to rely on all those smoke and mirror tricks". Fact is 9 times out of 10 the criticism I've seen about the style or technique of a musician/singer is rooted in ignorance (mildly innocent ignorance, but ignorance none the less).

As for the lyrics I can't say much about his older stuff as yes it was ridiculously silly and not to be taken all that seriously. However some of his lyrics on the "Through Art We Are All Equals" album are rooted into his feelings/experiences with his heroin addiction. I cannot judge him for these lyrics when I support someone like Nikki Sixx who also sung about getting out of his heroin addiction.

Now about you not liking the guy or not liking his style. I'm not saying you have to like him or his music. I just don't want any judgements of his "personal" life to nessecarily carry over as criticisms of his music. I'm not saying you are doing that, but as a guy who was obsessed with music for the early portion of my life...if I can help someone enjoy a certain type or style of music to broaden their horizons, I'll certainly go for it. Granted it almost never works but what the heck.

 

Yeah that's why I said may be. I'm not sure if I am because I've never given it much thought. Despite me saying ptv are the kings of feel bad music in a positive way, vocalists like craig and tillian and whatever the name is of that guy who currently sings for emarosa, make me feel really bad. like they bum me out in a way i dont enjoy like i enjoy the way some other things do. Maybe its that soul sound. I don't know. He's a good vocalist, i just dont like him for many reasons of varying validity. ill check it out though.

funny story (not really but its relevant) me and a friend drove to a show here in richmond after classes at night to some ****** club to see a band and then left before j craig played. there were maybe like 20 other people there who only wanted to see him. thats the only show story i have.

 

so excited i'll finally be getting my hands on Uncharted 4 today

i also happen to have $15 off which makes it even better, hehe

 

trying to get up to walking 10 miles a day hovering around 6-7 now. then i want to bring it back down and jog. feels good to sweat

Damn Internet outages, especially when they're city-wide. They need to hire competent technicians who know what they're doing. No excuse.

I mean, seriously. What if you wanted to take a trip and needed gas or desperately needed gas in general and couldn't use your debit card and you don't like carrying a lot of cash around (which is understandable)? You shouldn't have to wait five hours for services to be restored, and what if you had an emergency?

 

do you know specifically that the outage was caused by someone ****ing up?
I'm sure the people that work at the data centers and **** know what they're doing. they are trained professionals. technology just isn't flawless, and yes there are safeguards you can take (redundancy, colocation, etc) but **** happens and it's unrealistic to expect that it doesn't

always carry cash with you tho. there's no reason not to. I'm not saying walk around with a grand in your pocket but enough to get you home if your car breaks down, runs out of gas, whatever. if you're just driving locally and know someone could come get you in the case of an emergency, sure not a big deal, maybe have a $20 on you. if you're going more than like hour from home just have cash. whenever I go on road trips or w/e I make sure to have at least $100 or 200 on me

 

I don't know. I just don't have much patience for anything these days, whether it's bad drivers or technical difficulties or whatever.

Maybe there's something wrong with me.

You're getting old

 

I just don't really see the benefit of moaning about something like that if you don't even understand the fundamentals of that particular system works. It's like "I'm going to do nothing but complain about 'x', but not do anything productive to make the system better". That kind of attitude is going to cause you to hit some brick walls in life fairly hard.
