    • I absolutely love the designs of the EVAs, especially Unit-01.
    • I like how the series goes through a bunch of different tones and gives a really good sense of atmosphere, with the beginning being more action-based, the middle being a bit more light-hearted, and the end being very suspenseful and grim.
    • People hate Shinji and I understand why. He's not the heroic type by a long shot; he's to me what a teenager with abandonment issues and little self-confidence would act like in the situations he's put into. He does things that many people watching would disagree with and call him out on, and other characters do call him out on stuff. Something about his struggle to find self-worth and interact with people resonates strongly with me. I found it kind of similar to Simon from Gurren Lagann, except with a lot less bombast and positivity.
    • Beyond Shinji, many other characters show various personalities that I feel I haven't seen enough (or done well) in anime: inferiority complexes that don't go overboard but instead feel grounded, being cold to other people but not for any dark-edge reason that would come off as silly, being overprotective of someone but for understandable reasons given the world's situation, etc. There are no perfect characters: everyone has some sort of human flaw to them.
    • The animation I found was really good with what budget issues the original anime had, with Neon Genesis having some of the greatest uses of still frames I've ever seen in animation. The Rebuild movies (that is 1.11 and 2.22...I don't have kind words for 3.33) are gorgeous, though 1.11 is basically the exact same events as Neon Genesis in less time, with 2.22 starting to deviate.
    • I like the post-apocalyptic-but-still-functioning world.
    • The core message of the series is a very important one to me, and unfortunately some people lose it due to some of the more mind-fuck imagery, especially in End of Evangelion, which is understandable. I do NOT recommend watching only Neon Genesis: I feel like you have to watch End of Evangelion as well to really get it.
    • If I had to make a comic book allegory: Evangelion is to the mecha anime genre what Watchmen is to the superhero comic book genre.
    • Is it pretentious? I guess it could be construed that way, and I don't care to argue against that because it's a meaningless differentiation to me. I just liked watching it because it made me care about the characters and their stakes more than many other anime because I felt for the characters as people.

I've actually grown to hate how pointless the word quality has become amongst certain groups of people. Quality to me seems like a unit of measurement, yet due to opinions being so "abrasive" nowadays, the whole idea of the word quality seems to have no use within those said groups. If opinion dictates all there is no quality or lack there of IF those two people happen to disagree. If they are in some form of agreement then MAYBE they can discuss quality.

    Just my $0.02

saying "just my 2 cents" after everything disarms the potential for quality discourse. it's effectively the same thing as "just sayin" or "i'm being subjective." well yeah. no ****. what i think your actual problem is, is that the conversations often stop at the word quality and people dont continue to justify it. that is a problem, but thats not what's happening here since haya literally listed why he thinks its quality and i snarked about why i think its not. so yeah i dont know what the point of this is. but anyway

i started playing kh2 again. fm on ps2.
    SHOOTIN UP SOME HARDCORE NOSTALGIA
got me wondering, how often do you people replay kh games? this is the first time ive played a kh game in 3 years i think and the first time ive played this is one since like 2010. and when i do play kh games i almost never go back to kh1. i always go to this or ddd or recom. wonder why, aside from the fact i like them more

Or you could just ignore it, no? The $0.02 part isn't there for everyone. If you are capable of reading into the context of a post, which you probably are, then fantastic. If that is the case, then just ignore the $0.02 part. I don't actually see the issue here. If redundancy triggers you that hard, then I don't know what to tell you.

I explained what my problem with the word "quality" is. I said that quality seems like it should be a unit of measurement, but such measurements cannot become a standard unless two people agree enough to make that work. You two don't agree on why "X" is good, implying the unit of measurement is quality. If it was "I like this vs I don't like this" there wouldn't be an issue. However when quality gets brought up, you run into problems.

Think Justin Beiber vs Dream Theater. I could write a 40 page paper about why I like Dream Theater more, but if I were to say one is higher quality music than the other, I would have to somehow explain how that was measured.

Things like quality can't really be measured that easily or at all in cases like this. If we were to judge both by difficulty of the songs played, or perhaps instrumental "talent" then it would be heavily skewed in Dream Theater's favor. However, what about mass popularity? Regardless of his entire fan base is younger people + Amaury, that doesn't take away from the fact that in terms of Monitary success, he kicks the **** out of Dream Theater despite their popularity, years of experience/exposure, and musical skill level.

With things like that you rarely (if ever) will find an example where both sides agree on how quality is measured, so why use the word at all? <----- (that last sentence was my point btw)

At least to me, his music is good. And I've actually got a friend in Spanish 103 who likes his music as well.

That doesn't mean I agree with Justin Bieber's past actions, of course, but he's turning his life around now.

That's just rude. I can't imagine you'd be very happy if somebody kept spelling your name as Hajaboosa.

    He has millions of dollars.

He's popular and has a ton of fans.

I'm pretty sure it won't matter if a non-fan misspells his last name.

Also....I also don't care if someone misspells my username???

We are digging deep into the weeds now to come up with irrelevant counter arguments.

Misspelling a name is an accident, bringing up something like JB's life issues was just not a part of the conversation. It was kind of shoehorned in there tbh.

In a desperate bid to remain relevant, Sarah Palin has claimed that Bill Nye is just a kiddie show actor and no more a scientist than she is, and to prove it, she's willing to debate climate change with him on live TV.
