I can't comment since I found both of those near unwatchable.

This and all the bad reviews it's been getting is disappointing to hear :/ I was actually kinda looking forward to the film, but at least now I guess I know not to expect anything that'll knock my socks off (which wasn't expecting that tbh but I DARED TO HOPE).

Suicide Squad I don't have any real opinion on, but I'm just hoping that all the mentions of Jared Leto doing weird stuff (like, that dead animal head to the rest of the cast, wtf dude) dies out as soon as its out.

It makes me laugh because after almost every superhero movie comes out, people (of varying numbers/group sizes) come out and complain about this or that. "Its not deep enough, its not accurate to the comics 11000000%, its too much mindless action, etc" and I am just sitting here laughing because those people are almost never going to be satisfied. I'm seeing the movie tomorrow and am looking forward to it, all the while not going in with any positive or negative expectations. Its foolish to go into a movie and be like "THIS IS GOING TO BE THE ONE", at least in my opinion. The "one" for me, was a movie that I didn't expect to be that great. I knew it would be cool but it blew what little expectations I had out of the water.

This is why I worry for games that are hyped to hell and back. Think Fallout 4, people were BEGGING for that game, and it came out and when it wasn't perfect, people destroyed it. Well I enjoyed it, so I am not against the idea of that happening with Batman vs Superman. Expectations can ruin a lot of things, and I see no point in doing that to myself.

The thing is, I still can recommend it without much trouble. The good parts are worth the bad. Maybe wait for the rental availability if you feel the ticket price is a bit too steep.

Suicide Squad has been so weird to hear news about because I love Jared Leto as a musician but to hear he's doing so many weird things is off-putting.

I think it's just the more in-depth comic book fans' cynicism getting to you with the first part. I've basically loved every Marvel Studios film that isn't a Thor movie (they keep giving him stories that don't interest me) or "Iron Man 2" (the film-length commercial for the Avengers.) "Winter Soldier," what I think is their best movie so far, is such a stellar action film because it shows an understanding of the character and balances solemnity with fun. Not to mention I've adored the "Daredevil" Netflix series.

And on the DC side, I loved "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight," but it feels like the studios have been trying to continue emulating those films' success without putting in decent narratives (that or we get "Green Lantern"....) Part of why I'm anticipating "Suicide Squad" is because it's not another grimdark film about comic book characters: it looks kinda silly, yet it looks like they might be giving it some good substance too.

Hell, my friend who reads comics all the time has been enjoying both camps' productions for the most part.

All in all, I think you'll find very enjoyable bits of BvS.

The only thing that bothers me is you CAN be a huge fan of "x" to the point where that is a defining characteristic of who you are, all the while not being overly cynical. I feel like a lot of this grief is self-inflicted for the most part.

Oh, I definitely agree with that. An issue with looking at opinions on the internet is how so often so many people, either unintentionally or knowingly, amplify what they say about things like comic book adaptations to garner more response. Hyperbole is more easily visible after all.

As for me, regardless of the quality of those things, I'm glad that they can generate discussions beyond "It's bad" or "It's good."

I just watched it, and by watched I mean laid across two theater seats and took a nap in my boyf's lap while he watched it

I made it through a fair bit (maybe an hour?) and he woke me up a few times (like when wonder woman appeared)

    too many dream sequences
Batman and Superman's beef was dumb
I like jesse eisenberg but idk who cast him in this, I didn't watch justice league as a kid but idt that's how lex luthor was written/portrayed in the past. which is fine to change if they want to but he did not feel very villain-y to me (did he become the movie villain? idk I fell asleep)
the continuous shot of Batman fighting in the desert was so stifly choreographed and acted and so slow
Batman's voice continues to be ridiculous
the tub scene was irritating, the camera angles were so bizarre because they were trying to show as much of Amy Adam's bod as possible w/o showing any nips or anything
wonder woman seems to dress exclusively in backless dresses
wonder woman is too short and not buff enough

I'm sure it has its audience but this is not a good movie by any means. it will entertain a lot of ppl and make a lot of money but my goodness movies don't have to be so dumb

No. From what I watched of the Justice League cartoon, Lex Luthor was basically the pinnacle of a human without mutation or implants of any sort: charismatic, muscular, extremely smart, which made his beef with Superman interesting because Supes is only objectively superior because he's a Kryptonian.

This movie's Lex was a poor man's Joker from The Dark Knight and was almost the opposite of what people expect from Lex. Someone brought up a good point on another forum: he would have been the perfect Riddler.

I thought the voice modulation was actually smart. Made sense to use actual technology instead of fucking up your throat to mask your voice.

    I thought this toooooooo

BTW was Mercy (Lex's black-haired female buddy) freaking hot or was that just me??

Just watched Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox. DC at least does animated films really well. Enjoyable story and some great animations, though I was weirded out by how overly muscular some character designs were.

I love how me criticizing Heavy Rain and BEYOND: Two Souls resulted in someone calling me a Call of Duty fan...

Those don't bother me (well the TV show does but for different reasons)

I'm talking about this: Aquaman and Batman looking buffer than Superman

My main issues were with Aquaman:

    And Captain Atom:

Their heads are tiny compared to their mountain-esque chests. I'm not against being creative but these designs rubbed me the wrong way

it certainly can be, it doesn't have to be

It's just really hard to live with other people and whether or not it works out boils down to luck & the amount of effort you're willing to put into adjusting to a shared lifestyle with someone who might be completely different from you. I'm still kinda hurt/bitter about my first sophomore year roommate who essentially bullied me out of the room because she couldn't bear to share a living space with someone. I understand not wanting a roommate, like neither did I, but that's the worst way you could possibly react.

Anyway @61 an apartment might be a good alternative, if you can swing it I'd probably recommend it over (what I assume is) a dorm even if you have to have roommates to afford it. You'd at least be more likely to get a room to yourself separate from the other tenants, and even if you didn't I imagine the larger amount of space would be a big help (e.g. if you and your roommate aren't getting along you can go hang out in the living room or something). Of course apartments come with caveats all their own lol and it's a lot more work to arrange, but just my $.02.

You could also end up with an awesome roommate like I did freshman year though, and I had a blast that year! It's how I ended up living on campus again the next. It's just... Luck of the draw.

i dont have friends to live with and i have no money of my own

just saw bvs. biggest problem with it is characterization isnt as solid as i would like. if im to believe that supermans character is a guy who wants to be purely altruistic but doesnt quite know what that is and the world wont let him be the good guy he wants to be, and that batmans character is a guy jaded from decades of crimefighting and doesnt believe altruism exists anymore, than i love it. but the problem is snyder, who doesnt bring that into focus enough. and people criticize martha and john for not being the moral backbone of the character but i think this is almost more human. they want their son to do what is right but more than anything they want their son to be happy, and that clark choses to do good only reinforces his character. all in all i quite liked it but its almost more of an episode than a movie. theres not much of a singular story there. its just people reacting to what has happened and seeding things for whats going to happen. and in that i see where people have problems but it doesnt bother me? i like what it is and im willing to judge the movie for what its doing, knowing that the movie knows that its a smaller part of a larger whole. i think its good.

Did you like their Lex? My opinion is that he's a serviceable villain but might as well be called something else entirely. It didn't feel like a variation of Lex, if that makes sense.
