I hope everyone from khv from France is alright, I don't know if anyone is specifically from Paris but my thoughts are out for you if you are.

 

Went to sleep right before the news broke up, found out this morning as soon as I woke up.
I don' t live in Paris but I have family there. I haven' t called anyone yet, the dust hasn' t settled anyway.
Gotta eat at my grandma tonight, she' ll know.
I haven' t seen Fork here in quite a while, but last time we spoke he wasn' t living in Paris either.

I already knew something like that would happen. It was a question of when, not an if.

I'm just... I don't know. I had the same thing after 9/11. Just a feeling of numbness. I shouldn't be surprised that humans are capable of such acts anymore.

But I know that last night Paris was on a high Alpha alert. Urging everyone to stay inside. They turned the lights off in a display of mourning.

And I just want to say that everyone reacts to these situations differently. If you see your friends or celebrities reacting harshly on social media, just step back and give them space. Some of them might be experiencing heightened emotions at this point in time. And that is okay.

 

Saying once again what I said the previous times a Nintendo game was changed for this.

NOBODY would raise a commotion about these features and outfits if they weren't removed. At least, nobody worth listening to.

Nintendo is literally giving themselves press by doing this. Whether that's good or bad is debatable.

I'm personally tired of westerners being seen as not being able to handle BOOBS when we have hundreds of games with tons of blood and gore. Perverted? Maybe, but Nintendo needs to stop trying to be gamers' parents.

 

It's just like Capcom removing Rainbow Mika's butt slap in her Critical Art.

Or censoring Cammy's camel toe (which admittedly was in poor taste anyway).

Though at this point R. Mika, Laura, Chun-Li, and Cammy may as well go through breast reductions too, based on how silly the complaints about Mika were. How is it that the west can't handle stuff like this? I mean I don't DROOL over Mika's butt or anything, but I have no problem with it. It's just a spank on herself as a part of her wrestling gimmick :v

It's a waste of effort on these teams' part to avoid bad press that would never have existed.

I'm not going to stand on a pedestal to say "BRING BACK THE ASS SMACK' or anything, but I'm tired of being treated like a Teen-rated game is now an Everyone-rated game. Does Capcom really think teenagers don't see plenty of sexual content in high school?

 

Fandoms are exhausting. I want no part of them anymore. I'll just be over here doing my own thing.

 

Look at it this way.

By removing the ability to change YOUR personal boob size, Nintendo is saying you can't exist in this world without having boobs the size that you have.

 

How do you know that all the people talking about it are men though?

It's an issue as simple as removing part of our character customization. Now you can only play as a girl with a large bust. It wouldn't be an issue if they just gave us a premade character, or if they just brought no attention to it.

I'm not just calling you out but I wanna say some things.

To be fair, almost all of the character customization regarding female characters is meant to be ~*sexy*~. While the character customization regarding male characters is meant to be powerful*. Like that armor you get might look intimidating on a male character but if a female character wears it, it's pretty much a chain mail bikini. Or armor that would get a woman killed if she wore it in an actual battle.

It's the fanservice and Male Gaze that's kind of getting irritating and called out here. As was the point of removing the aforementioned buttslap. yeah, it's supposed to be a taunt but does the camera have to linger on her backside as she does it? And in the same game, does the camera linger on male characters in the same way?

*Pretty much thinking about World of Warcraft here.

One point I brought up is that the slider in Xenoblade that was removed for western regions doesn't just go bigger; it also goes smaller.

Why this is being seen only as "sexual" is what's so annoying to me. Whether people, either male or female, want the character to look more relatable, or simply want a character who doesn't look like the typical busty heroin as the story's avatar.

Mind you, I had no issue with them changing Lin's outfits from the more revealing swimsuits because she's 13 and looks 13. But the main character's appearance can vary by a pretty big margin.

And I still readily look forward to the game. It looks great, with a huge world and an interesting story and fun gameplay, but if we're getting stuff changed like the character creation, I fear that we may also have changes to the story itself. The Xeno-games have somewhat commonly included references to religion.

I know this could easily be seen as perverts wanting their pervy stuff, but I'd like media to stop losing content for poor reasons through localization. This is, of course, a thing that's happened forever. I just wish Nintendo didn't feel so overprotective.

 

Thing is, sex sells and it always sold, and it most likely always will. With that being said, if someone who is under age is sexualized, that is wrong. I don't really think this is a debatable topic.

However, if a game sets out to be sexualized, and it isn't with children, I see no faults in it. If you don't like it, don't support it and when the demand for it diminishes, you win. I don't see that really happening, which is why I think complaining about "x" or "y" character being sexualized is a waste of time. If that is going to be the route a game dev goes, they are allowed to. I find it funny how we freak the fuck out over boobs, but we don't give a crap about murder in our games.

I get that there are people out there who feel uncomfortable when a certain character is depicted a certain way, but if that is the case, the best course of action is to avoid it. I've always thought that video game creation is an art form. It's like if I complained about mona lisa not being insert race here. That's just silly.


Again, if it is someone of questionable age. Eff that. That is gross and wrong. However I don't see how unrealistically large boobs are any better or worse than the thousands of people we slaughter in video games every day. The usual comeback to that is that the people aren't real. So if they aren't real and we don't care about them being murdered....why do we care about how they look (from a "this is right or wrong" POV)?

 

Thing is, with the whole 'sex sells' thing, comes a slew of other issues. Unrealistic body image for one. Whether it's a Victoria's Secret model who has gone through airbrushing and photoshop to remove pretty much any evidence of folds or wrinkles or the porn industry. And there is so much wrong in the porn industry. I'm not even going to get into that one.

Not saying it's just women who have this issue but it's the demographic that comes up the most frequently.

And I agree with you on the underage thing. Because I can remember getting weird/uncomfortable responses on here when I said I wasn't really comfortable with a 16 year old(Kairi) having a panty shot in a video game(Kingdom Hearts 2). And I'm old enough where that is most certainly squick.

I get that fanservice is always going to be a thing. But it would be nice in moderation.
