What wrong with that for a desktop?

 

I mean assuming you have the werewithal to install it yourself - and uninstall it if it proves a hassle - not much

but it's also not as portable

The Blackmagic Intensity Pro definitely has the name recognition and it's probably the best internal solution (and it's not difficult to install), but imo there is a negligible quality difference if any between the other products. However, an internal card will always be faster & more faithful than something that has to travel through a USB port.

What I want to know is what installing regards. I've never actually built a PC or anything, but I can't imagine it's too hard to put it in place.

It's not difficult at all. You just have to slide the PCI card into the slot--it's like installing RAM, pretty much. The only thing you have to worry about is static, though that can be mitigated with a wrist strap.

Yeah, for real, this seems like the perfect card to spend my refund on. Misty's da bes.

EDIT: Also, my store sells wrist straps so that's an easy fix.
