The prices these days are the biggest reason why I don't buy comics now ._.

that's (part of) why i stopped buying current. prices just over reasonable and sleazy marketing gimmicks and hype-manufacturing events have securely placed me in backissues only. i'll go back and get the singles from current series later but $4+ after tax off the shelf for a single issue is too much. the 2.99ers are ok but on the line. trades would be the way to go but buying a trade from the big two is as expensive as singles now. in 2003 trades were about $10 for roughly 7 issues. that's like a joke now.

I've got the Lizard's first appearance, by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. There's a 25 cent price tag on it. It blew me away.
At the very least, I wish tie-ins to events didn't cost the full price of a company's normal series. 3.99 for every Secret Wars tie-in I want is killing me.

    i love that issue
the whole event formula needs to be rethought or just done away with. same with crossovers.

Next Saturday is Percy Jackson's 22nd birthday and since I sadly do not have a Camp Half-Blood T-shirt, I wonder if I can come up with some sort of demigod cosplay to honor one of my favorite book series at the convention...

pokemon hype train picking up steam again.
its weird how pokemon love goes dormant for a while when there's no news and after a game's been out for a couple months. but then it just comes back full force next year. love it.
speaking of, did anyone else have the same experience with oras that i did? the hype for that game was unreal. and then it came out. hype maintained for a couple weeks. but then it suddenly died off and the game ended up being a sort of non-thing. plus the community was not as abuzz as it was with xy. all the rumors and speculation for delta stuff was and is sweet but i think gf is waiting too long to reveal or hint at what's next for pokemon that the excitement wore off. but come september the internet will light on fire i'm sure.
something is happening. those guys are scheming something. with what we've heard the idea behind gen 7 will be and how they've said they wanted to change things up a little with releases and such, i don't think there's any calling what can happen next. i want to say that oras seems a little more integral to the current status quo of pokemon than any previous remakes have been, but who can say. both xy and oras don't feel like complete games. they very much seem to be leading into something else, particularly xy, or at least seem to be missing something that was deliberately removed. and i'm not saying that it will necessarily be a z or a new emerald, but i want to say there may be some overlap in whatever comes next. i don't know. it's exciting.

I'm almost certain something new will get shown off at Worlds this month, even if it's just info about the new green blob.

corocoro apparently said that info on what's coming next will be released in their September issue so one way or another we'll have some sweet info within the next couple weeks

I agree that there will be something new shown in Pokemon, I think it seems as if it could be something else regarding mega evolution as it has played an important role in the last few games and it still seems as if it is quite important.

It seems a bit ironic to complain about crossover fic on a Kingdom Hearts website.
I haven't been into comics for long but most trades I buy are usually $11. I just bought Ms. Marvel and that was $15, I imagine Marvel is more expensive than Image. Can't imagine paying $20+ for one, that blows.

okay, tomorrow i'm leaving for my vacation. I'm not taking my laptop since I could use a few days without it. I'm still taking my ipod with me because I need music. I'll be back probably late Thursday afternoon.

You kids behave while I'm gone. Or at least fight nicely.

it all comes down to you're paying more for less issues now. current paperbacks are about $15, which is not a huge difference from ten years ago, but you're usually getting less and $5 can make all the difference in the same way $1 can be $1 too much for singles. and hardbacks are like $10 extra. but i usually don't buy trades anyway.

i wish i liked circa survive more than i do. but all their stuff kind of sounds the same to me and they really really bum me out. and their music is usually so depressing. i like blue sky noise and appendage but that's mostly nostalgia.

I caught up on some comics today.

First were volumes one & two of Rat Queens which was amazing. Hilarious with great characters, and it strikes a great balance between humor and more serious plotlines (if usually in favor of the former). Going to get the next few issues when I next go to the comic book shop near me (which will be soon because I still haven't picked up the new Sex Criminals).

read a few issues of ***** Planet next. Definitely interesting but it didn't capture me like Rat Queens and I'm not super dazzled by the art. #3 was excellent though and I will probably keep with it for the feminist stuff.

also read the first issue of Lando series. I like what they've done with Princess Leia (though I'm behind on it) and Lando seems great too

mostly just thinking about how I need to pick up Sex Criminals tho. my comic book store is a thirty second walk from my job, they close at 4:45 on Sundays and I was supposed to be off work at 4:30 which would have been just enough time to pick up Sex Crims and chat a bit. but the other manager was half an hour late.
whatever i'll just go tomorrow, gotta get my bf a gift anyway

    edit we censor *****?

is this some kind of ****ing joke, misty?

i went to toys r us for the first time in years and got this sweet rocketeer figure. they had a somewhat tempting han black series figure but the painting on those looks kind of cheap which makes an otherwise good figure look bad so no sale. still they're probably your best bet for good star wars figures.

I'M SORRY i've been spending so much money lately that i've not been able to justify buying more comics, at least not until i get through the stack I have sitting next to my bed. i have been craving science fiction lately tho so black science is on my horizon

welp, caught up on my Disney movies to prepare for KH3, hehe. Watched Big Hero 6 and was quite entertained. Although, I did find myself making a lot of parallelisms to The Avengers, which was surprisingly weird. :x

    i hate this last.fm shit
was there a reason it needed to be changed? there was an elegant simplicity to it before but now it has this new modern aesthetic that literally makes me want to throw up not to mention i lost a handful of my plays and navigating is less intuitive
