Asylum has the best atmosphere, level design, and pacing. Still my favorite, just slightly over City.
City has a few really interesting side-missions, and improved on the combat and movement a lot.
Origins is the worst one, a clear display of WB Montreal not knowing how to be Rocksteady despite trying to do everything just like them.
Knight has a terrible PC port currently, so I'm waiting until it gets fixed.

getting hype for dgm this week (hopefully)
being excited for dgm feels strange. it's something i've not felt for years but what i liked about dgm is all very slowly coming back to me

you know when you experience something again as an adult and realize the substance it has versus when you read/watched it as a kid and all that mattered was that it was cool? I'm wondering if I won't have that with dgm. I'm remembering what the series was about and how the main character developed and I think there may have been some actually intelligent storytelling and nuance to it. I'm not sure if there really was, I plan to read it again to find out, or if just I'm projecting what I want to be there onto the series. my memory of dgm's pretty hazy

Arkham talk depresses me because I'm so late and it feels like I'll never play them
still waiting for that dream Superman game, guys. get on it, video game industry. make yourself useful.

Can someone explain this to me?

I just noticed that YouTube has gone back to the previous video player:

    upload_2015-7-15_9-5-21.png

The one thing I liked about the new video player is that you would automatically go to the highest HD quality option available (720p or 1080p) without going into full screen first.

Eventually, the new video player will be back. Facebook does the same thing. They introduce something new, revert it for a while, and then permanently implement it. For example, when sharing something, an overlay pops up saying it was shared successfully. There was a change made so right above the Like · Comment · Share links, a bar with a slightly different background and a green check mark appeared instead. Now they've been back to the overlay for a long time.

started Wolfenstein: The New Order yesterday.

It's a fantastic return-to-form of pre-Call of Duty FPS games. It doesn't always take itself seriously, nor is it completely silly, hitting an entertaining and engaging balance.

Duel-wielding 20-shell shotguns and unloading them into armies of Nazi squads.

    Unexpectedly strong writing and voice-acting.

    I'm loving it.

So Dirty Vegas is apparently going to release a new album sometime this year. I have never been happier.

    MASS EFFECT IS FINISHED

I had the Extended Cut downloaded, so the ending wasn't the legendary mess (watched the original sequences and what a disaster), though it was still pretty messy. I don't really mind that too much though -- I feel the same about it as I do the Kill la Kill finale v:

I went with the Destroy Ending. As much as I love my Shep and everything she is, Catalyst!Shep isn't her and I wouldn't trust anyone with sole control of the Reapers, even if they were a Paragon saint. Synthesis...lol. I like the idea of it, and it certainly spares EDI and the geth, but it raises the question of what happens when they invent intergalactic travel and meet with lifeforms that aren't the "final evolution" Are they gonna force them to synthesize? Are they gonna treat them like they're lesser beings and set them on a path to "correct" evolution? All of the above are kinda what the Reapers were doing???? There's this whole element of superiority that is hella unnerving to think about, so that didn't feel right. And also it felt like wayyyy too big a decision for Shep to make alone, that the entire galaxy is ready for this and down for this.

I also have hope EDI and the geth survived Destroy since Shep took the blast IN HER FACE despite being part synthetic, and she was alive (and probably real tired of this ****, lol). Plus I'm sure EDI and the geth probably have some sort of backup and can be reactivated, but that might just be my justification for it. ;~; It sucks they didn't have Shepard think about them when hearing that though! It would've made making the decision in real time a lot harder than it was (tbh I didn't even think about them until Kites pointed it out while we were talking). My ~headcanon~ is Destroy happens then the events of Citadel, and then my Shep and her space girlfriend Kelly Chambers will move to a nice world on a beach and have a happy and hectic life together with the Normandy crew living not too far away.

There was this X-Files parody I read in a French comics, Mulder and Scully kept using their flashlights in broad daylight and talking to each other through their cell phones while in the same room. I think the later actually happened in the show once.

All in all, what did you think of the finale and the ending?

I personally still hate it. Felt completely out of left field and unfitting for a sci-fi adventure.
Especially didn't like how Shepard is treated like some God damn messiah figure. It felt like my (mostly) well-written narrative got handed to a 2deep4u high school writing student at the last moment.

I'm still trying to sort out my thoughts, but on the whole it's okay to me. I watched the original without the Extended Cut on YouTube and hated it, so anything better than that's passable to me, lmao. I do still have a lot of critiques about the finale though:

I'll just talk about from the Cerberus HQ strike to the end since I can't pick a specific point, lol. Kai Leng was...I don't even know what to say. Ridiculous is probably the best word choice. The idea of a space ninja is hilarious, but he felt so out of place. ESPECIALLY WITH HIS SWORD. Why is he still carrying around a sword when this is a future with guns, biotics (which he has), a tool that can shift into a blade. Him being the arch nemesis of Anderson and then Shepard was so out of left field, not to mention Shepard losing to him for no reason other than that purpose. Miranda said it best, "That slippery *******'s still alive?"

I will admit though, it was really satisfying taking the Renegade Interrupt to break his sword and impale him with the Omni-tool blade, lmao. sucks to suck space ninja.

From the Earth part, I would've liked to see what the rest of the galactic fleet was doing and seeing those key characters/races in action more. Give me a Salarian saving a Krogan, give me the Geth and a Quarian going over battle plans, something to hit home that they're united and working together. I liked that we got to talk to the crew before the sprint to the Catalyst, though I wish there would've been stuff for the other crew too (talk with Joker and EDI over comm, Miranda or Jacob, etc.)

    I liked the stuff with the Illusive Man. I'm glad it wasn't a boss fight, he always reliedon his intelligence and planning to get him where he is, and it's good they continued that to the end. I missed the Renegade Interrupt the first time I played (I accidentally started the Synthesis end since I thought there was gonna be a terminal or s/t to choose the ending by the light), and even though I had a feeling Anderson would die, I remembered the London trip he promised and was way too sad ;~;

STARCHILD. I hate Starchild. That whole explanation of the Reapers' creation and greater purpose, even though one of them -- Sovereign I think? -- said stuff to that effect, was bullshit. They're not preserving anything about the old species, a Banshee isn't gonna sit down and talk with you about Asari culture ffs. AND THEN WHEN YOU ASK WHO CREATED STARCHILD IT'S JUST LIKE "well I could tell you but I'm not going to" The fact that the actual truth that is pretty damn relevant to the lore is locked behind a DLC is way more frusturating.

On Shepard's role, yeah the shep is a messiah thing wasn't handled well. I played mostly Paragon, so she'd always be asserting that she's just a soldier and it's her and her crew that are doing all these great things, but everyone else kept praising her at every turn. This is probably my major complaint about ME3, there weren't really as many meaningful character moments as I would've liked. Liara, Garrus, Ashley/Kaiden, Tali, and Legion all had really good ones, but they should've kept up the momentum of that. I wanna see Tali give commands out to the fleet & the Geth in the last battle and lead a charge, or Garrus and Wrex broing up and going at enemies trying to flank you. They could've involved the rest of the crew (past and present) in the final battle in a way that creates tension like the lead up to the Suicide Mission in ME2. I wanted to see them all be capable -- even though Shepard still gets the most important role in making the choice at the end, it would've been their crew that enabled them to reach that because they can handle themselves and are gonna finally help Shep now after Shep helped them through basically everything.

That show was a UFO, it pretty much defined good TV for me. I mean sure, it was rather hit or miss, not every episode was great and the mythology probably went on longer than it should have, but when it was good it was really good. It jumped from sci fi to horror to thriller with a hint of comedy and social commentary. Not sure you' d find it that great though, you don' t strike me as a horror buff.

Is the manga still going? I watched the anime way back when it aired and I'd definitely love to go ahead and read it.
