    I can't get into SSB.
My girlfriend's sister has the new one and plays it on my girlfriend's Wii U and...it's fun, yeah, but it doesn't really grab me. Maybe it's just because I have no idea what I'm doing, but I can't get into it.

Which sucks. It looks like fun and I want to like it.

I feel like a lot of people actually never really get what to make of these games, even people who like them actually. While I personally only think Melee was fun because it's the least clunky to control and has the best visual aesthetic, I feel like most people I've personally dealt with either like all of them at a core conceptual level or don't like all of them at that same level. What it really comes down to as far as I can tell is the fact that any one of those titles can be classed as a fighting game, but also a party game, but also a platformer, and potentially even other genres if you wanna start stretching. That's 2 player, 4 player and 1 player game genres. That's kinda silly isn't it? The series has very distinct elements of different genres all kinda smashed together and that sorta defies the expectations anyone can have going in without already having dissected the formula. As such, since lot of what makes a game grab you is how accessible it is to you personally, you're not gonna be grabbed by something you don't have a good basis for expectations. If you already like fighting games, but not party games or platformers, but not fighting games you're going to not really know what to make of something that shamelessly adopts features from all of these things.

So yeah, I think you pretty much got it with the no idea what I'm doing bit. I don't think you need to force yourself into it though just because you like the look of it, if you get into it you do and if you don't you don't.

Maggie's been doing absolutely well. She's been eating on her own, keeping food down, and everything. We're now 99.9% sure it was a combination of the changes she's been going through and a general upset stomach. We think we may have fed her too much of the special food. It's very rich and she's always had a sensitive stomach. Then add in the fact she began steroids to help her pancreas produce insulin and she began being weened off phenobarbital, which she never needed in the first place. Currently, she's still on both medications.

She had a convulsion (grand maul) this morning, but quickly got over it afterward because she ate beforehand. I think my mom may have forgotten to feed her the special food last night when she got back for watching horse barreling, causing her blood sugar levels to drop too much--not dangerously, just low--between her feeding in the late afternoon/early evening yesterday and this morning. We agreed beforehand that when she got back in a few hours, she would feed Maggie, so I didn't feed her because I thought my mom did.

Patman, I did post an update, though--on June 13, to be exact:

The main reasons I love Smash are being able to do either big party games with 4-8 players, or intense duels with 2 players. If you're not into both or at least one of those for hours, wait til it's super cheap (which will be forever because Nintendo game)

I actually am curious now; what other than Kingdom Hearts and Persona do you really like?

if i'm being real, i'm most likely going to impulse buy it some day soon anyway.
    pokemon, of course
    uh..
    this
and i'm loving Fire Emblem: Awakening
those are the only games I feel i can say i'm a "fan" of

someone should make a grid based Planet of the Apes 3ds game. I'd love to control armies of monkeys in conquest of a post-apocalyptic planet fighting humans and mutants. and then in the past when they overthrow the humans

I meant to ask you this a long time ago and just remembered.
I don't know how you feel about actual fighting games, aside from what you just said about Smash
    but have you played Injustice?

generally I don't enjoy fighting games. a few years ago i played a lot of the well known ones to see if they appealed to me and they didn't

I know the question wasn't directed towards me, but I feel like Injustice has semi clunky controls (which was my only gripe with that game).

Agreed, it's too slow for my own tastes, especially inputting combos. I'm more a fan of Skullgirls and Marvel vs Capcom's style.
