oh my god it happened again. here i am rolling my eyes thinking they're going to drag this thing out and not do the interesting thing, but they completely catch me off guard and do something even better than I would have liked.
Durbe revealing he's Barian while he's holding shark. 1. some other show would have dragged that out for episodes or not revealed it at all. 2. not only did they do that, but they did it at the best possible moment. there's some delicious irony in a Barian coming out as he's trying to save Shark. I know details to some spoilery things that could maybe come back and make this less good but at the moment it's nice
the show is trying to make me think. as if its actually trying to be good. like real good, not just ygo anime good.

    Same.

    Edit:
Here's some information about Neutrois since I figure not a lot of people have heard of it before.

Out of curiosity, wouldn' t the word "agender" be less opaque to an English audience ?
I assume neutrois is a portmanteau of neutre and trois, but then I am French.

I apologize. I've been busy being on vacation and then busy being sick.

Err ... those all look perfectly synonymous to me.
And if it is a French portmanteau then neutrois means neutral third. Yet another synonym.
But my point was that agender and genderless are rather self-explanatory to an English audience (at least I assume so), as opposed to neutrois.

I'm not the one that decided to call it Neutrois. But look at it as a sort of 'neutral third gender' if that appeases you. All I know is that's the one I feel comfortable using. I don't feel comfortable assigning myself to either a male or female gender. I feel weird checking the 'female' box. I feel weird checking any box to be honest. Like, I don't feel female even though I have one of those bodies and yet I don't feel male either. It's like I'm at some point in between.

    To demonstrate:

    F: female
    M: Male
and x is where I'm at.

    F-------------------------------------------x------------------------------------------M

I don't experience dysphoria a lot. I do at times since my body doesn't reflect the mental image I have of myself. But I am a wimp when it comes to almost anything medical. And once I make a change that drastic, there's no going back.

Also, it seems a bit...not sure how I want to describe this. Like, 'the word you're using to describe yourself doesn't make sense so you should stop using it'. I'm sure that's not how you meant it but that's how it's coming across.

Annnd this is where the rice lord chimes in.

Thing is (at least from what I understand), I thought the whole point of this "fill in whatever you think/feel you are" (or nothing at all, doesn't matter) for the gender option was to show that hey, some people are this way, others aren't. Its not like a debatable topic, considering that I could literally say "I am a female, despite having a man's body" and if somebody says something against that, they are considered to be a ******bag. Thus the blank space (random example tho, I am as manly as it gets).

I think of myself as male because I was born with XY genes. I can' t "feel" my gender any more than I can feel my hair color.
Puts me in the position of a blind man trying to get a grasp on the concept of color.

I almost threw some disclaimer saying that you should of course stick to whichever word suits you the most, but kinda hoped it wasn' t needed at this point. It' s just that, if the goal was to gather more understanding and ease up conversations, I' d personally go with the most self-explanatory word. I imagine most people won' t bother googling neutrois. When I saw Ars Nova use the word genderfluid I assumed he just made that up. There' s a very real possibility people will confuse neologisms for trolling.

Thing is, if someone is going to troll, someone is going to troll. It's best to just not care about what they say, instead of trying to adapt around not giving them "ammo", if you know what I mean.

I meant people might assume Laurence is trolling them. If you' ve never heard of it before neutrois sounds as legit a gender as helicopter.

No not at all. But that sounds amusing in the least offensive way I can say that.

The thing is, one's gender identity is a very personal and delicate issue. There are people who are afraid to identify themselves for what they are because they fear being ridiculed, ostracized, killed, and worse. There are people who identify themselves as 'neutrois' and to suggest that they change it because it does not meet someone's criteria as 'legit a gender' is so very not cool.

In fact, that's a little something called erasure.

'I've never heard of it before.'

Then do the responsible thing and do the reading before you accuse someone of trolling.
