Just finished watching the movie Whiplash, and dammmmmnnnn it was really good. I had a music director just like Fletcher which was both weird and cool all at the same time.

    REAL TALK:

I'm getting married next month [ some of you know that, some don't ] and I'm trying to decide whether or not I want to invite my father to come. For those that don't know, I haven't spoken to him in several years. He did a lot of terrible stuff after my parents divorced and there came a time where I wanted nothing to do with him. I by no means want to make amends and reconnect, but it's my wedding and I never imagined him not being there. However, I know that if I invite him there will more than likely be drama because it's going to be a very small ceremony -- only about a dozen people. I really just don't know what to do at the moment because it's just under a month away so I have to decide quickly, but I don't want to regret my decision...

Not my choice, and feel free to ignore what I say here. But in my opinion this falls under the category of "everyone can have children, but it takes time and effort to be a parent", meaning if he wasn't/isn't a father to you (not saying he is or isn't, trying to be super neutral here) then maybe it is better off for you to not invite him. I don't know, a ceremony like this only really happens (ideally) once in your life, and the last thing you want is to have to worry about someone else, let alone any potential drama.

It is your day, do what is best for you. Also congrats!

Sometimes our vision of what we want to happen is not what we should expect to happen. You imagined for years that he would be there. But it sounds like it wouldn't be a healthy situation or something you would want to remember happening on your wedding day. There's enough that goes into planning a wedding without worrying that you're going to upset someone. Since it's supposed to be your day.

Short answer: If it were me, I wouldn't invite him.

I'm sorry about the tough situation with your dad. :/ If he's gonna cause drama if he comes, I'd probably not invite him, but it's your day and your choice.

Congrats, by the way! Many happy returns to you and your lucky fiancé~

I'm not getting married or anything but I have a poor relationship with my dad too and I've struggled over inviting him to things or even just letting him into my life in the smallest possible way. Almost every time I have I've regretted it -- he doesn't show or him being there casts a pall what would otherwise be a nice occasion. If it's a small ceremony like you say, I really wouldn't do it either. If he brings it up or something you can just make that argument.

If he did ****** things to you then I don't believe you are under any kind of obligation to reach out out of filial responsibility or whatever. My sisters always guilt me about not wanting my dad to be part of my life, saying "but he's your dad." I don't give a ****. He hasn't acted like a good parent my entire life and at a certain point, I have to stop hoping he will. And so I'm certainly not going to let him have the privileges of being a parent (like doing something like coming to a wedding or walking you down the aisle) if he doesn't deserve them.

Congrats though! Don't let him or this spoil your day.

I just used Amazon's One Click Purchase feature on my phone.

Holy **** I'm lucky I didn't hit that by accident when I woke up with a graphics card in my cart.

I'm sorta of two minds about it. Part of me thinks, oh of course they'd make him look ultra super badass with dark colors to appeal to more people, and the other part of me thinks wow he looks so damn cool I don't care if it's different, but since the character's been written like an angry badass before I mostly don't mind it. I'm just generally excited for one of my favorite characters to get a shot in movies.

Like with anything, it can change, but they're forecasting cold and wet weather next week! Yay!

Although this doesn't reflect the forecast above (yet), you can see high temperatures seem to be going away, starting February 26: http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/l/USWA0130:1:US

My ability to be coherent with words is going downhill fast tonight. Think I'm going to just relax and watch Jurassic Park.
