I'm so undecided on the show, I love Breaking Bad but I can't see an entire series being given to what is mostly a comic relief character. Still planning to watch it eventually, though.

 

These were my thoughts as well but I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt and go with it knowing the people who are behind the show. By giving that character more dimension in a separate show I think the idea works, and it's to this adavantage that it's before BrBa so it doesn't feel unnatural. If BrBa depended on Saul I would be more apprehensive, but because the shows can function independently of each other I'm okay with it.

I'm reading Last son of Krypton. I wasn't liking it at first but it quickly got very interesting.

Well if it makes you feel any better, while Saul is the main character, Mike is going to be in a main supporting role and who doesn't love Mike?

Mike is awesome but again, I'm so nervy about turning minor characters into like... more major ones. Mike is great in BrBa as a supporting character and his granddaughter backstory was nice but how much "Mike being a hitman" can we take?

Like I said, still gonna watch. I just have reservations.

 

BrBa was good as it's own thing, I think this show is a little unneeded and kinda cash cow-y, if it's good it's good, but we didn't need it.

Of course. But it speaks to the writing caliber of these people that they're able to make a show born solely out of marketing feel natural, and I wonder if by the end it won't feel necessary. It's too early to have any real discussion about character arcs and stuff, but I was impressed with how well they distinguished BrBa Saul from this Saul in a single episode. We keep referring to BrBa Saul like simple comic relief but he did have a degree of dimension. Perhaps my reservations were more with making a show about such a slimey guy who's easy to hate as the protagonist.

I hope it doesn't fall back on fanservicey stuff too much.

 

Just finished watching Birdman.

That movie was so weird...

 

I should play some more Hatofuls this weekend. Since I'm a bit curious if there's this one route included in this version.
