So, yesterday I showed my mom the first episode of Gurren Lagann. Her reaction was a lot more positive than I was expecting.

That awkward moment when you have to repeatedly ask the people you follow on tumblr to tag their five nights at freddy's posts because the game gives you nightmares. And I'm going to keep asking because I can't lose anymore sleep over thinking I'm seeing that damn blue eye from that damn bear in my peripheral vision. Also Toreador March is forever ruined. /loser

That game looked boring to me. And the Foxy looked so low poly and so low res that when I watched it, I just laughed?

I think it was more reading the backstory and anything involved with it. I just don't really understand what the deal is. I know I have an overactive imagination(which I use with writing) and have vivid dreams. I was okay with Slender. I was okay with Amnesia. Jump scares don't really do anything for me anymore. Flashing images on the other hand, do.

But those damned animatronics. Freddy's AI is programmed to learn your strategy. He'll use two of the others as distractions. Golden Freddy is triggered randomly. You have about half a second to block Foxy if you've failed to watch him. And then he'll keep banging at the door to drain your power.

The game itself might be low-res but my brain makes it like...really hi-res graphics.

As far as games designed to screw with you, it succeeds. But I'd rather not see anymore of it.

I am all for creepy things. I love the 80s era of slasher movies and Freddie Krueger is still one of my favorites. But animatronics covered in blood and having human teeth falls under the category of creepy dolls.

It IS a really creepy premise, yeah. I actually played it when I was home alone at night once and didn't actually sleep. I think I just got used to the game though.

Hard Apple Cider is yummy and should be the standard for alcoholic beverages.

Adorable James is playing FFXIII, drinking Hard Apple Cider, and eating new Lays Wasabi and Ginger Chips

This is the post of a man enjoying his day no matter what gets in the way.

I understand the cynicism, but I do find that actually playing the game (there's a free two-night demo if you want to try) is quite different from watching someone else.

I think Five Nights at Freddy's is a pretty good horror game too. Not in the sense of terror or disgust, but like...stress. It could be scarier if you had to navigate the area, but I find that being confined to your office, using only cameras, lights, and doors to survive, a welcome (and, to me, enjoyable) approach to the genre. Worth the $2.50 I spent for it, and a lot spookier than Outlast ever was.

i am a wuss with horror and i got through about twenty seconds of the Game Grumps playthrough of Five Nights At Freddy's before I realized that I'd never sleep again if I went on with it. my overactive imagination really doesn't help either when I'm awake late at night and constantly freaking myself out...

i mean if it was noon and i was with like four other people who could distract me and make me laugh through the fear MAYBE i'd at least try it. but i have no friends to do that with, so here i am...

I actually think Five Nights at Freddy's is a fantastic game. It really sets the tension and it's a really creative idea for a game, imo.
The jump scares are actually really neat too. You get them if you screw up, which is great because it'd be your fault. Jump scares in general are only cheap if there's no build up to it or whatever.

Also nothing will EVER trump the first time you see Foxy running down the hall and scaring the ever living hell out of you.

It's a great game. I'm not disputing that point. The lore behind it is wonderful and just vague enough where you can draw your own conclusions. Are the characters haunted or are they just following their programming? Who was responsible for the Bite of '87? Why does Mike keep returning night after night? Is he desperate for cash? Is he using himself to keep the characters from getting out? Is the cupcake in your office a spy?

I know a sequel is already being planned.

All I'm saying is that I'm a giant pansy who can't handle horror when it comes to animatronics/dolls. And the fact they have eyeshine just adds to the nope for me. Maybe if I were playing it with a group of friends and we were making dumb comments about it, yeah. But until then, I'll admire from a distance.

Considering how much the management sucks I wouldn't put it past them to accidentally program their animatronics to murder people after hours and not bother to fix the problem.

Them being possess makes sense considering some of the weird stuff they do.
I'd say Foxy. He's the only one who's out of order (for who knows how long) and his teeth are sharp where as the other three have flat teeth.
I'd say it is probably desperation for money/being a colossal idiot. I doubt he's keep the job just to keep the characters in, I mean his position was vacant for who knows how long until he was hired and they didn't get out. There is also no one working weekends given that the sixth night is overtime. :\
