i know, but day one is always the most awkward
like, some people are good at adjusting to change, and then on the polar opposite end of the scale is me. i am not good with change. i am very comfortable when i'm steeped in familiarity

yeah, as soon as i know of anything interesting i'll be doing that
luckily i still live close to home and since i've been too lazy to learn to drive i still get dropped off/picked up; but yeah, the lounge is nice and once i actually know a few people there'll be hangout spots

It took me a year and a half before I really started talking to people in college -- granted I was working on shedding a lot of the old skin from high school but it's okay if it's a slow process! It doesn't matter how slow you go so long as you do not stop etc etc etc

Protip that women's club is the most fun on the PLANET, at least here, highly recommend

I am tired. I haven't been really getting a decent night's sleep. Only like 3 or 4 hours at the most. I can get a ride to work if I need it. I'd rather not drive when I'm feeling like this. I have so many aches and pains I'm not bothering to count them all.

I have a feeling I know what's going on though so I'm not terribly concerned.

    edited for the above reasons.

You did see that I edited the post right? Because I'm not sure Princess can help me with my problem.

Are you living on campus? If so it could be best to go back to your room and hang around the floor a bit. If you don't you could probably go out to lunch, see if you spit a few familiar faces, go to some of your professor's office hours to get acquainted & such.

The first day being a residential student is pretty rough, ESPECIALLY with gap periods, but there is some stuff you can do to keep busy for a bit if you look really hard. Also naps. Naps are godly.

As a correction to what some people may think. I am not Mr. "likes to debate about car safety". It isn't a debate to me. If someone wants to do something unsafe behind the wheel, understand that doing such a thing comes at a cost. That doesn't mean I am going to nag the entire forum to be 110% safe. That is unless they try to defend their actions. Then I will certainly be like "um no". However a line has to be drawn somewhere, in which case I eventually stop because you can't always convince people to change their opinions/lifestyle.

Safety is important unless you want to risk having brain damage and a seizure disorder like me. Because getting shots into your head every three months (pretty fucking expensive btw) to control the pain you would have everyday if you didn't take them, having to take medication every day to control the seizures, and my favorite part....the accident being a part of your life for a very very long time that just so happens to be one of the only things you can't forget.

All that aside, I am not some tool to be used every time someone does something dangerous behind the wheel and talks about it on khv, or doesn't get enough sleep, etc. It's their lives and they can do whatever they want. Sometimes people like me just want to forget about "car safety" and go back to living a semi normal life.

nope. school is like 20 mins away so i commute. though it helps that there's a whole shopping center a few blocks away from one of the entrances and i know a lot of the local hotspots + hangouts.

and the problem is that i was born without the ability to nap. like, unless i haven't slept in two days, i really can't nap. it sucks...

And I just want to say that I do lie down anywhere from 11:30 to midnight. So it's not that I'm making stupid choices. I am making efforts to get enough sleep. But due to biological reasons beyond my control for the next 2-3 weeks, I am unable to get to sleep until my body wins out over my mind. I end up lying in my bed waiting until I pass out somewhere around 4:30 or 5 in the morning.

I don't really appreciate people thinking that I'm making unsafe decisions when I'm actually not. I know not to get behind the wheel of a car when I'm tired. I know that I need x hours of sleep every night. I don't need someone lecturing me. I am quite capable of knowing what I am capable of on my own.

Probably know this and did this, but just in case; helps to pick a theme (weather, a type or two, references to other things you like, similar appearances, etc.)
