I think I've expressed my view points on Korra enough. But in short, I think she's a brat. And the show makes me cry as a writer.

 

The show makes me wish she was a mini-Ang. I think i could have written a better script, as a writer, also, I think the best stuff is the next threat, those 4 prisoners. That's awesome, but all the stuff w/ Korra in it is boring, i prefer what's going on in all the other characters' lives.

 

I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT THAT HAT. i still need to get that **** i can't believe i forgot about it

 

it's so funny. and awesome.
it was literally the first thing i did in the post-game.

 

I wanted more Equalists and less forced love triangles.

Kinda this. I get that they want to show Korra as being a different kind of Avatar, but damn the way they do it, she's just plain stupid so often. Aang did some dumb stuff, sure, but within one Book we also saw him adapt to a world 100 years after he was frozen, solve Bumi's riddles and challenges, learn Waterbending, rescue a group of Earthbenders on a prison ship out at sea, speak to Avatar Roku, deal with the death of his people, and bond with the Water Spirit (and that's not even all that he did in Book One.)

Korra gets into sports, fights some chi blockers, sticks herself into an annoying love triangle, fights two Waterbenders, and learns Airbending and Avatar state AND regains all of her other bending elements in one episode. The smartest thing I can remember her doing in Book One was to stand up against Tarrlok when he starts using the police to impose a curfew on innocent civilians.

I digress; the writers need to make Korra different from Aang, sure, but they also need to remember to let actually solve problems, personal and public, in interesting and thoughtful ways. Less "PUNCH IT WITH FIRE" strategy.

Trying to buy a Japanese only picture pack on Xbox Live turned into an hour long debacle with no results.

Digital importing, why are you so hard...

 

Picture pack?

 

On Xbox, you can equip a picture to suit as your avatar of sorts when people browse your profile. These can even appear in games. However, because you could upload porn or something, you can't just pick a picture and upload it from the website. You have to download ones that publishers and creators have okayed with Xbox and upload to the market place. Unfortunately, because publishers want money for making these, they cost money. You usually get them in set of five-fifteen. They usually cost a dollar and some are really cool, hand drawn stuff. I have one from NGII that's sick and must actually be a waterpainting made for Xbox.

That said, this picture pack is of No More Heroes with some good, good art and it's only 103 yen.... but I just can't given them money for it no matter how much I want to try!

 

Ah, I knew about the avatar thing, but not about buying sets from other regions. Seems pretty damn arbitrary to not put a set of avatars, that people have to buy anyway, in every region...

 

It's just that the came never came out here so no one would be publishing the picture pack. There'd be no one to give that money.

 

I haven't actually sat down and watched Avatar from start to finish to analyze it or anything, but the more I think about it, it seems to be a really well-done series and Aang seems like a wonderful character. If nothing else he's one of the most likable protags for me.

 

Definitely. It's surprisingly rare lately for me to find such a genuinely joyful and optimistic protagonist who doesn't annoy the piss out of me.
