The Demon's Crystals

Jordyn took a deep breath and saw as one of them handed her a glass of water. She smiled and took a sip. She exhaled softly and tried to stand up, only to fall back down, she was still weaker than what she expected. She decided just to stay put.
"I'm Jordyn," she said softly.

 

"I'm Kurokiba. This," she said, pointing to Shiro, "is my younger brother Shirokiba. We've come a long way from our home, if it can be called that to try and get some freedom for half-demons."
Shirokiba interjected. "Home being Japan. Which is why we use different sorts of weapons. Anyway. Our mother was a wolf demon, and our father was an American human. All the more reason to get rid of them, according to the demons."
"And you can just call us Kuro and Shiro."
"Right. So...what's your story?"

 

"Well, both my parents were killed when i was 5 years old, which left just me and my sister, Kiara. Right as the war broke out, they took my sister captive. I haven't seen her since, and I've been looking for her ever since. This is the last picture I have of her," she said pulling a folded up picture from her pocket. She took a sigh and reached it over to one of them to whoever wanted to see.

"Oh...I'm sorry...", Shiro said. It was a rare moment when he actually could see how being orphaned by demons affected other people.
"Well, they killed your parents, Franks's parents, and our parents, and captured your sister, so at least we're all in the same boat. Sort of," Kuro said, "So maybe we should all work together and do something about this crap. And I think we all could use some familiar company. Whaddaya say?"

 

Edmondus walked the streets of the city, lonely and abandoned as the desolate city around him. What he saw threatened to make him retch. Bodies lay in the street, men still clutching their women, still trying to protect them. Children lay slumped over, looks of horror still painted on their faces. He tilted his face up, and closed his eyes. A single tear, escaped his eye, cleaning a path of dirt on his face. He fell to his knees in the mud, dirt mixed with these peoples' blood. It began to rain. Slowly at first but then it began to pour. Edmondus released his wings, ripping his shirt up. He just took off the remains. On his back, below his white and black wings, were whip lashes. They crisscrossed his back, ugly red welts. He lifted off the ground with two powerful strokes and carried himself away from the lonely place.

"And I'm Frank." he said. "It's nice to meet you Jordyn." He sat down near her, but not next to her.

 

Jordyn took a deep sigh and smiled.
"Hmm, well... I have to find my sister first, before I do anything," she said. She noticed Frank. It was nice to get to know his name, but she was very unsure. She just smile.

 

Kuro gave Jordyn a somewhat sad grin. "Aright. I understand. You both are welcome to come and go from here, just make sure you're not being tailed by unwanted company, like those two lovely demons we met today."
"Speaking of them, what're we gonna do about them? We can't constantly have fights in the street; some bystander might get killed," Shiro said.
"Yeah. Or if they see us, they'll go tell everyone in the town, start a mob, and run us out with torches and pitchforks."
Shiro pointedly ignored his sister's comment. "Any suggestions?"

Jordyn took a deep inhale. She let it out slowly and stood up, still warily.
"I'm gonna go out and get some fresh air," she said. She walked out of the apartment door and down to the ground. She was feeling a little tempted, hearing about the demons, made her start to feel like one. She felt like it was going to overcome her again. But she didn't want it to.

And I'm gonna be getting home later now, since softball season has really started and our practices are insane. xD

Shiro watched Jordyn leave the building, only to get hit by yet another person.
He chuckled, "I think she has an ability to meet new people via collisions."
Kurokiba, on the other hand, had her eyes closed and was focusing on the surrounding auras. "Looks like a second hanyou, Shiro."
"Yeah. Shall w-" The rest of his sentence had fell upon deaf ears, as Kurokiba lept back out of the already broken window.
"I'm going to bolt that thing closed," he said as he walked out of their building and to the street below.

 

Jordyn felt herself fall back in the collision, but she didn't expect the words that came out of his mouth.
"Watch it" that was rude and uncalled for in her book, her eyes almost turned red in anger and she felt more power come into her. She felt herself getting ready to turn, but she took a deep breath, and instantly she felt the aura pass over her. She already felt weak, and the attempt to turn again made her even weaker than before. She just sat on the ground and laid back, almost ready to just stay there forever. It kept going through her mind.

Jordyn tilted her head to the side in exhaustion, and didn't bother to move as if she fell asleep, but her eyes still opened slightly. She was incapable to move at all now, she felt frozen.
"I'm sorry," she told the boy who had been so rude to her at the collision. Her thoughts only focused on that, and she didn't feel like arguing back.

 

Kuro landed with an uncerimoniously and intentionally loud THUNK on the ground, and stood up from the kneeling position she had landed in. Her wolf-ears were twitching with agitation, and she sent a growl towards the new arrival.
Shirokiba was carefully watching the second hanyou they had met that day, but Kuro knew her brother was analyzing him for any sign of weakness.

Extending a clawed hand to Jordyn as an offer of help up, she asked, "You okay?"

 

Jordyn looked up without moving her face at Kuro.. The only thoughts that passed her was that she wanted to rest a little more. She shook her head, trying to get the stress out of her system. She watched her carefully, her eyes showing weakness. Though she never wanted anyone to know that she was weak. She took a heavey sigh, and shook her head no to the question that Kuro had asked her. She closed her eyes and was almost ready to fall asleep.
"Just...let me rest," she said weakly. It sounded as if something were pressing against her but it was only the breaths that she could take in. She tried to adjust herself to get comfortable, but the hot pavement wasn't going to get comfortable at all. She even realized when she tried to move, all she moved was her left hand, and it was so hard to. She titled her head up slightly and took a deep breath.

 

Edmondus flew over the city, wings spread gracefully. His shadow passed over a grouping of people and he looked down, golden hawk eyes analyzing them. He dismissed them as nothing. Feeling his wings tire, he landed on the top of a church steeple, close to where he had seen the group. Pulling out his ipod, he put it on shuffle and stared out at the sky.

 

"Aright. I'll take you back to up to the building then. The sun's starting to set anyway." Kuro said, and she put Jordyn's arm over her shoulder. As she prepared to jump, a sudden shock went through her.
"Kuro." It was the only thing her brother said before both turned to where they sensed an aura from - the top of a church. The setting sun, however, made it hard for them to see, and they dismissed it as nothing to worry about yet. A disgruntled Kuro and calculating Shiro reentered their apartment.
She quickly did the math. It was usually just her and her brother, but now they had two other people. She sighed.
"Jordyn, you need the most rest. Take my bed tonight. It may not be the most comfortable, but you'll sleep better. Unless you'd like the couch, of course."

 

Jordyn felt the aura too. It made her even more determined to turn... To kill something else. What the hell was wrong with her?? Was it the presence of demons that made her so edgy? She could control herself and she'd felt like she was ready to drop. She heard some talking, but she couldn't make it out, everything just sounded groggy to herself. She could tell who it was, even though she was dizzy. She felt her stomach twist, and she felt so insecure about herself. She couldn't trust herself. She made herself walk and sit on the couch, and to convince herself she didn't need rest. She felt another shock go through her, and it was time again. The more aura about is what drove her so crazy. She felt out a pieced yell, that was only half a second long. She felt herself start to change. She looked up, almost as if she were ready to cry. She look straight at Kuro, or Shiro. She was confident it was Kuro, she still couldn't see. A moist sweat broke out on her face, and she felt the pain of the knot in her stomach twist and turn. She cried a little.
"Kuro," she tried to say. She stood up warily, her knee's wobbling. She let out a small breath and she looked at her, her eyes pulsing red.
"Kill me... Now! I can't..hurt anyone else!," she said, almost in a growl. Her voice seemed to be changing.
