Because you're a certified badass, you cut straight through the creature's defences and stab it in the face. Whatever this thing is, it's slow, so you actually get the chance to do so repeatedly.

The creature is still standing, for now, though it's pretty much blind now. It thrashes blindly and manages to hit you, but only just. You're good for now.
